We arrived without reservations and our outdoor dining needs were met. It was raining, but we were seated under a roof, with quilts and heat. As a celiac, I have eaten here for years and I’ve never had a reaction to gluten; my dairy sensitivity is also taken seriously. Service and food are both consistently good. There is no compromise in the dining experience for anyone- -gluten free or not.

We had the GF Fish & Chips (tasty) and the Crab Mac & Cheese (very tasty...more like an Alfredo than a traditional mac & cheese).

We'll eat here again, if we're in the area.

Ordered the fish & chips as well as shepherds pie. The shepherds pie was absolutely amazing! Fish and chips were, well, fish and chips. Still good tho. The waitress assured me that the whole menu was gluten free except for bread and pasta, which could be subbed, so pretty much everything could be done gluten free. The meal was good, but a little pricier than expected. Definitely a small town atmosphere with small town gossip to enjoy if you’re the people watcher sort. Food was good, but not sure I’ll be back - service was lacking due to all the gossip and regulars that got preferred treatment

The staff seemed very knowledgeable about keeping gluten free foods safe from contamination. Most of the menu can Be gluten free and there isn’t many gluten foods in the menu, which helped. The food was delicious and I felt safe eating here.

We really enjoyed our meal here. Two of us had the fish and chips, and the other two tried both the bbq burger and mushroom burger on a lettuce wrap (they have GF buns but we just prefer lettuce). They completely get The concern with CC - to the point where they brought us a baked Brie with regular pita bread and completely remade it and served it with their homemade GF bread (warmed). The food and service were excellent on our visit and we got to sit outside on the patio and enjoy the sun with a view of the river. Not too bad!

Our meal was definitely not comparable to previous visits or worth $50 and they charged for condiments!!! Are you kidding me? We have eaten here so many times and it has always been fantastic. Incredibly disappointed. New owners??? Off night? Probably won’t go back. Sad!!

I wish I could say we had a good experience. I really wanted to love this place. Unfortunately, the dishes we ordered were average quality and the waitress was very rude and argued with us about our bill. Both my husband and I had heard her say one thing but she swore she said another. We asked to speak to the manager but he wouldn’t come out. Instead, she said he told her we could have a $5 gift certificate. Our issue was an $18 mistake on their part. We paid it. This just left a bad taste in my mouth. It wasn’t about the money, more about how they treated us.

I won’t name names. I’m considering revisiting for a second chance. I like to be optimistic about places like this! I do believe they are celiac friendly. I’ll update when/if I do.

Thankfully, we found Shambala down the street and every meal was amazing!

The best restaurant for eating GF anywhere! I have several friends that drive down from Vancouver, BC for fish and chips. It's just that good. You won't find better GF fish and chips this side of Portland. For an appetizer the Calamari is unbelievable! If you don't want seafood, I highly recommend the Shepard's Pie. It is fantastic! The French Onion Soup is another favorite.

Had their Seafood Chowder on a recent Friday. It was so delicious, I hope they make it again on a Friday.

I can’t believe it has been 3 years since I wrote a review for this restaurant. It’s still as great as it was then. Today stopped to grab a quick gluten free lunch and had the Humus/Tapenade with gluten free bread and Fish Soup (see photo). I agree with Tana—don’t let a bad experience by one reviewer dissuade you from trying this restaurant. I live an hour away and come here as often as I can. It is soooo good—I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. As one reviewer said, where can you get Clam Chowder, Fish & Chips and Calamari gluten free?! Not only can you get them here, but they are the best!

I’m very concerned about the last review. This restaurant is a celiacs dream. Up charges for additions to your gourmet burger are standard across the industry gluten free or not and an up charge for a gluten free bun is not only a standard but a given. The waitresses and staff go out of their way to accommodate everyone inclusively allergies or not. Please don’t let this last review affect your decision about trying this restaurant. As a very sensitive celiac I can attest that over the past year I have NEVER had a reaction or EVER had a bad meal. That goes for the non-celiacs in our household as well. Trumpeter House you rock!!!

What a terrible experience. We went there for lunch and my son got a basic cheeseburger with bacon and without telling us they charged $4 extra for the bacon, $2 extra for the cheese, as well as the $2 up charge for the gf bun! So his burger with a very dry crumbly bun that just fell apart was $19.50!!!! The manager refused to even come talk to my husband and said "that's what your ordered" even though neither the bacon nor the cheese up charges were listed on the menu My son also ordered lemonade that was so sour it was undrinkable. My husband got the lamb burger and it was overcooked, dry and his gf bun also totally crumbled. We all ended up having to eat our flavorless, dry burgers with a knife and fork as the buns just fell apart. So we ended up getting a bill for over $60 for the three of us to have burgers and fries for lunch with waters! While we were waiting to pay, the owner (who refused to come over and say anything in person) just glared at my husband the entire time. To top it all off, the waitress said they didn't take American Express, but after my hubby said he didn't have other with him they took the American Express and charged it after all. What?!? So they just lied? We have never had such an experience in our lives. Save your money and your time and go somewhere else!

They not only have a gluten free dedicated fryer, they also have a dedicated vegan fryer. We will definitely be patronizing this business again.

Food and service fantastic. This is the first time I have had real fish and chips since going gluten free five years ago. Also had a very good cheesecake for desert. So many things on the menu looked very good, but since I could only eat one, and I have been craving fish and chips for about a year... I'm just sorry that I live hundreds of miles from here.

This place is amazing! The two owners have Celiac and totally get having a "normal" restaurant with a wide variety of food that just so happens to be gluten free. Two of us in the party have Celiac and one other with gluten sensitivity. We all loved our food, the variety of choices on the menu, plus a great ambiance. Our waitress was also awesome and ensured she communicated to the chef that we were Celiac even though we ordered gluten free, she knew the importance of ensuring that extra bit of care. A great place to stop to or from the ferry in Anacortes. (Don't let the look of some other parts of the neighborhood scare you away!)

My husband and I are strictly gluten free as we are both gluten intolerant. You can imagine my surprise when we found this restaurant on our one night romantic getaway.

We walked into the restaurant a little bit before the dinner rush. There were only about 2 to 3 tables in the bar area that were occupied when we arrived. It took 15 minutes for a waitress to come greet us after a very cold hostess seated us and brought us water and when the waitress finally did greet us, it was my husband and I who had to say "could we maybe start with a drink order?" as our waitress wanted to "give us a few more minutes".

The food arrived out to the table fairly quick. We ordered the hummus plate and calamari to start with along with a side ceaser salad and two orders of fish and chips. All gluten free, of course. The calamari was limp and a bit lackluster especially for the $9 price tag and was served with tartar sauce and while we both understand that tartar sauce is considered the American standard, being offered tzatziki which is a bit more traditional would've been great especially since it is served on one of their burgers.

The fish was cooked great and the fries were fantastic. You could tell that the chef really cared about their gluten free food tasting as authentic or as close to the non-gluten-free version as possible. Unfortunately, no matter how good the food is however, it just cannot make up for the rest of the experience.

To say that the service left us feeling empty and undesired would be an understatement. It became pretty clear pretty early on in the dinner that we were not a "regular" or one of the pretty "Abercrombie and Fitch" people that apparently the staff has grown accustomed to. The atmosphere was dark with heavy, weighing down music which might have been easier to handle or look past had it not been for the servers who just added to the whole unappealing feel.

My husband said it best when he said to me, after I had to ask our server for the bill, of course "we were happy when we came in here.. Let's get out of here and get back to being happy cause it's not going to happen here!"

As soon as we got back to our hotel room, unfortunately, both my husband and I were using our bathroom to pay our respects to the porcelain throne. It wasn't exactly screaming romance, if you get my drift and this wasn't a meal or experience either of us ever care to repeat.

found this pub using this app. made a trip into Mt vernon just for the gf fish 'n' chips. Oh, my goodness!!!! the batter was lite and crunchy and the fries were very good. I am not a tartar sauce fan but that was a really good creamy AND flavored tartar sauce. normally they taste like mayo with pickle relish only. this had dill and flavor. I also ordered the calamari. it was the icing on the cake. perfectly cooked with said tartar sauce. rings and baby squid just in case you are squeamish. also had iced tea which is TOTALLY worth mentioning. it's a tropical paradise flavor that doesn't need sugar. just squeeze the lemon. it makes it that much better. I was so impressed with the service and how nice everyone was. great atmosphere. the only down side I can think of is that the calamari had a little bit of oil on the bottom, like it needed to drain a bit more. it's just how it is, calamari cooks fast and cools fast. overall this restaurant is almost all gf. just about everything on it is gf. they even make their own gf bread and buns! for non gf people, my mom had the Reuben and the meat tasted like it was home cooked and she raved about it. it was thick on the meat and she was only able to eat half. they can also make it gf with gf bread. overall it was a great experience. Mama said it was 'delightful'
