have eaten here a few times and never gotten sick. any staff I've spoken with were either educated enough on the issues or were new but eager to ask their coworkers/mamagers for help to make sure they get it right. we've enjoyed our meals here each time.
Ate the gluten free burger and sweet potato fries. Tasted great and did not get sick. :) Update: have gotten sick twice now after eating the hamburger with a gluten free bun and the sweet potato chips. May be a cross contamination issue.
They have good gluten free buns and tons of of topping options. Eaten here many times without getting sick. They also have yummy shakes.
Twisted Root is the BEST place in town to get a gluten-free specialty burger. They also have plenty of other options like specialty salads and fritos.
This restaurant was featured on Diners Drive-ins and Dives, and it showed them mixing bread crumbs (or crushed ritz crackers) in with their ground beef for their burgers. I always reacted after eating here, and couldn't figure out why a burger with no bun would have me react. Then I saw the show. Ask about the ground beef if you're celiac before eating their meat! I stick with salads here now.
The first time I went, they were out of gluten free buns. I was very disappointed! On a repeat visit, they had the buns available and everything was very delicious. The bun was tastier than most others I've tried. I liked that it wasn't huge...which allowed the taste of the burger and toppings to shine through. If you're very keen on a bun, I would call first. But overall, I would definitely recommend!
Twisted Root Burger Co. was fantastic! We took a fairly large group with multiple food allergies. They were patient with me, despite the many questions that I had for them. Their menu options were insanely generous! Because they were unable to verify if the seasoning on their gluten free fries did or did not have MSG in it, they made me a fresh bunch of fries. Their staff was super friendly and helpful! The food was great!! We will be stopping there again on our way through east Texas!
We were so pleased with the quality of everything here. They make their own buns and the gluten free ones are large! And the fries are gf with no cross contamination. I could have cried for joy! Just for good measure we got a shakes. I was so full that if I ate another bite I would have exploded and you would have found bits of me all over the country.
I think this is my last time here. I honestly don't feel that I can trust things to be gluten-free, their allergen list is incomplete and contradictory, status of individual items seems to be constantly changing, and by their own admission they don't protect against cross-contamination.
The customer service was fabulous. We had an issue though. I ordered a burger with a gluten free bun. I got my order and I remarked to my husband that our buns looked the same. He said well maybe they have figured out the gluten free cooking. Eh yea. I took two good sized bites when the server came by and said I need you to stop eating right now. 1. Manager immediately came over and refunded our money, Brought a gluten free meal over and brought water. He knew what was going to happen. He tried to help as much he could. 2. The server could have said nothing. I would not have known. Her honestly alone raises the rating. While a mistake was made and I am still having issues. The way they took ownership of the problem and tried to resolve it as best they could impressed me
I had great service here and was excited to find a place where I could eat a burger on a GF bun and have fries from a dedicated fryer (both the regular fries and sweet potato fries). I'll definitely be coming back here. I do wish the GF burger toppings were labeled on the menu, but that's really my only complaint. The person taking my order was able to answer my initial questions (about having a dedicated fryer and about some of the topping options), but didn't know that the sauteed onions are sauteed in beer. When I went to pick up my food, they had put the sauteed onions in a separate cup on the side and notified me that they were cooked in beer, so I just gave them to my husband.
This was my first visit to Twisted Root Burger Co. I ordered the beef buger with GF bun and fries which I was told were made in a dedicated fryer. I know the bun was GF but it was also heated on a grill. The grill may have been the issue. I know that any tme I eat away from home, I take a risk that the restaurant is not as careful I would be at home. From all I had heard about Twisted Root, I expected my meal to be truly GF. It wasn't and we won't go back.
This place is NOT Celiac-friendly. There is so much cross contamination. The buns are toasted on the same equipment as regular buns, regardless if it's gluten free. I watched the chefs touch spatulas to bread with all burgers. The guy who prepped my burger did change his gloves, but I found 2 not gluten-free fries under my food.
They have gluten free buns and a designated fryer. For those who are also allergic to soy, they fry in canola oil. The staff was very knowledgeable about food allergies. They answered all my questions with ease! Loved this place; will be coming back!
The service was impeccable. It was honestly some of the best service I have ever had in my life. The food was really good. They lost a star because there were no real places for a high chair even though they did try. It was also a bit loud for my taste but I would have loved it 15 years ago. Haha!
They have gluten free buns made be local oven for many restaurants. The burgers are very good and when I asked the sever change gloves and us fresh utencils they were happy to. They have dedicated fryer for fries and sweet potato chips. One of the best burgers I've had in a long time. I will go back next time we go to Texas Motor speedway. About the only thing missing was gf cider.
Got sick 2 out of 3 times I've eaten here. The burger is delicious but not worth getting sick. Fries are not GF. The Arlington location ask if it is an allergy when I order. I have eaten there twice and did not get sick.
They just opened in Birmingham and I had heard great things about their burgers. I must say they lived up to the hype. The burgers are cooked perfectly and the gluten free bun is very moist and doesn't fall apart when you add toppings. Their milkshakes are delicious as well. We will be coming back. They are a little pricey, but you get a lot of food for your money. All the other reviews at other locations said they are celiac friendly. I didn't ask but had no problems.
They are also Vegan Friendly with their veggie burger. Just tell them that your Gluten Free is an allergy not a preference and they will change gloves and cook your bun separately. If you want regular fries they will cook a new batch for you. They will inform you as to what else you should stay away from but it's not much! Great place/only place in town to get a turkey burger along with many other meats!
