They told me that as long as I did not get the fried plaintains or anything fried, I should be fine. So I ordered a bowl, which is basically rice, meat, cheese, veggies, and fried plaintains. I told him to leave off the fried plaintains. I told him it was for celiac and he understood. When I got the bowl, 3 bites in, I uncovered fried plaintains. It was underneath all the cheese and meat. It also happens to look a lot like meat. When I went back and showed it to him to ask if those were fried plantains, he confirmed they were. He apologized and asked if I wanted another bowl but at that point, I have lost all confidence in them and said no. This was very late in the day, the place was empty, my group of 6 was the only people in the restaurant. I even placed my GF order completely separately because I didn’t want it to get lost in the shuffle. Still failed.

Highly reccomend coming here in person as the staff is very knowledgeable. However, on my second time ordering delivery from here my arepa came with their gluten containing plantains despite adding notes about celiac precautions/not adding the plantains to the order in the notes

Nearly all food is gluten-free, so little chance of cross-contamination.

We had arepas and cachapas. The arepas were terrific. The cachapas were a bit sweet, but my 5 year old liked it. Ordering 4 things for our family of 4 was a lot of food and we have leftovers.

I am very sensitive and I have eaten here many times without getting sick. The fried plantains are not GF as a caveat. I typically order the catira or the Parilla . All good and safe.

This is our neighborhood favorite. Arepas are always great, well toasted and chewy. The fillings are always fresh and delicious. Highly recommended for gluten-free. And we ask for dairy-free as well.

The staff was somewhat knowledgeable but when I Nima tested my arepa with black beans it did not pass. I know their fryer is not dedicated to gluten free. I believe the issue came from the grill the arepa was heated up on but do not know for certain yet.

As far as arepa places go, this place is fairly bland.

Best gluten free food in Cobble Hill or Carroll Gardens. Unlike most places around here, they take gluten seriously. The fact that their arepas are delicious doesn't hurt either.
