I’ve eaten here several times and have had good experiences. The simple beef burger and BC chicken burger are delicious with the special sauce on them, and the gf buns don’t fall apart. The fries are made in a dedicated gf fryer, one of the few places I find I can eat fries, so that is a treat!
While there are not many menu items that are considered or marked G for Gluten Friendly, the wait staff were familiar with the allergy and marked my order accordingly for the chef to be aware of.
I ordered salt and pepper wings which were delicious with a simple green side salad that was also very fresh and I had no reaction to any of the food I ate or drank.
They have a Gluten wise menu, I ordered the Teriyaki Donburi Bowl. I informed the server that I am celiac and have a dairy allergy. She checked with the kitchen and said it was gluten and dairy free. I believe it is gluten free sauce but still I ended up have reaction. I can't not say how the other dishes are but I will not be eatting here agian.
They don’t claim to be a gluten free place and warn about cross contamination but do offer gluten free options.
I ordered one of the gluten free pasta dishes, was concerned when they brought a different option. They did confirm that the substitute was gluten free. It tasted amazing! I am definitely regretting eating it now.
White Spot clearly marks every order that has allergies, but unfortunately are not always successful with keeping them clean of cross contact. I get glutened here on average 1/4 times per meal. White Spot also changed the gravy to contain flour, which is a big let down as it's hard to find safe poutine away from Vancouver. I like the restaurant for being a classic and something my grandma loves to visit, but I'm always taking a gamble eating here.
