Great convenient city option close to Town Hall station! It’s 100% gluten free, Coeliac Australia accredited and staff actively maintain this (there's even a sign to ask that no gluten is consumed in the cafe to maintain safety for coeliacs). They have lovely cafe style tables and chairs all indoors. I'm a big fan of their Portugese tarts which have extra cinnamon, strawberry tarts and brownies. They do have savoury options too like pies, sausage rolls, chunky sandwiches, croissants and more. Some items are noted as dairy free, vegetarian etc. Just be aware they're not open at this location on Sunday.

100% safe. Portuguese custard tarts and lemon meringue tarts are perfect! Bread is great too and their toasted sandwiches are delicious. Unfortunately croissants are not the same as they were, very difficult to eat as they are hard. Service was dissapointing. To the point where I felt embarrassed to order more food, like I was interrupting them. Good coffee. Ran out of loose leaf tea which is on menu so we were given teabags.

I’ve been looking everywhere for a GF Portuguese tart and these didn’t disappoint. Croissant sandwich was a bit tough but high quality ingredients; I should’ve asked them to warm it up. Very friendly service.

I visited the place on the 11th of January at their bakery on Clarence Street because of the good reviews but I was very disappointed about the quality of both croissant 🥐 and Tarte au citron concerning the pastry part. Both were too heavy and compact inside. Specially the croissant which has got a nice butter scent was hard like a bun inside. Well it is very difficult to make a gluten free croissant and wholegreen bakery is not there yet. The lemon cheese and the Meringue of Lemon tart were enjoyable, but the tart itself were not enjoyable. Another thing I noticed was, that the staff was very vague concerning what kind of flour they use. “gluten free plain flour’ they call it, that explains the rather low quality.

Some of the best GF bakes I’ve had! Honestly I think many GF bakeries are overrated by people who simply miss GF treats. But I would put Wholegreen in a shortlist of some great international bakeries like HUG in Copenhagen and Modern Bread in NY. Great croissants, fantastic meat pies. A good selection of savoury and sweet — but come early in the day before it all disappears! Great coffees too. I don’t usually look for GF beer in bakery cafes but was impressed to see TwoBays as an option.

I've never been to a dedicated gf place before and I can safely say that it was an incredible experience. I didn't have to "work around" anything, every single thing there was 100% gf.

We had a cheese and spinach roll thing which was delicious. The pastry was more of a solid crust than flaky pastry. We also had the pork and fennel sausage roll which had flaky pastry and was absolutely phenomenal. And finally, we had the blueberry custard Danish which had flaky sweet pastry, I almost cried when I tried it. I haven't had that texture in so long, the whole meal was absolutely stunning.

Highly highly recommend coming here. Your non gf companions will be happy, and you'll be free.

Wow! Little oasis near the QVB. We travel to Sydney for theatre and shows and I used to have issues getting something to eat. Not anymore! Perfect sandwiches, pastries and cakes. I’m told the coffee is excellent (I’m a tea drinker) and the little tea pit seems never ending. Highly recommend supporting this cafe.

What an amazing place! Highly recommend for any coeliacs! I am only wheat intolerant but it was so good to go to a place that took coeliac disease so seriously! I was visiting from interstate and was super excited with the whole green Bakery! Will definitely visit next time I am in Sydney!

A nice cafe, looked really promising. Ordered the beef pie and a chicken & leek pie, americano & iced coffee. Chicken pie was really overpowering with thyme, beef pie not available hot so changed to a sausage roll which was ok. Iced coffee came hot but ok. No ketchup but a tomato relish served on the side, not great though. I wouldn’t go back for pies but there was other things to try.

Went there with my celiac gf on our Sydney leg on the travels of East Coast Australia. The place is fully dedicated gluten free. I had the banana bread and the chocloate bread. She had a croissant and a chocolate brownie. She needs to eat gluten free half her life and hadnt had a good croissant since 15 years. But thanks to this place she finally could have it again. Her smile alone was the price worth.

In the end we ordered sandwiches and quiches for lunch. Everything was delicious even for me as a non celiac. Can only recommend this place.

Not only does Wholegreen have the best gluten free baked food, the coffee is outstanding. My personal favourites are the spinach and feta pastries, the tuna sandwich, the ruben sandwich, the beef pie, the lentil pie - all with a great healthy salad. I buy the activated charcoal bread, the whole meal baguette and a long list of astonishing cakes and pastries. My favourite with a morning coffee are the choquettes. My family (who aren’t coeliacs like me) eat and love the food at Wholegreen too. They adore the danishes, the croissants, feather like eclairs, lemon meringue tarts and much more. The same ace in the city with the marble tables is a lovely calm space. Highly recommended

Lovely little bakery café that is 100% gluten free. They took time to warn us that the pain au chocolat was “heavy” compared to a wheat one but it was great - that’s the first time in 15 years that I’ve been able to have pain au chocolat.
