Very knowledgeable. All items are or can be gluten free except the regular buns. They get the buns from something sweet without wheat. Also have some of their treats. Mozzarella sticks, chicken fingers and now gf fish n chips and clam strips that they get from a local seafood place. I wish they were closer. Apparently the other wild Willy’s doesn’t have the same gf flour they use here. Patronize this place do they keep doing this!!! And yummy food too! Second review first was months ago. Beware. At night they have waitstaff. Much safer when you order yourself takeout and isn’t waitress. I watched her serve burgers with regular buns then beer that was overflowing then go to get my celiac Dtr a top for her drink. She said she wasn’t taught. Please please teach your staff how not to cross contaminate. You have amazing potential to be one of the safest spots. The chicken fingers are the bomb!!!
We used to love coming here for a casual dinner, but the last three times we've been, my gluten-free burger has been delivered lukewarm. I sent it back the first two times, but the third time in six months means we won't be returning. Service has always been great, but the kitchen needs work.
Absolutely loved this place! Even has on their menu everything can be made GF unless specified. Homemade mozz sticks and fried pickles, the burger and bun qere delish! Even had an amazing brownie sundae!! Wish this place was closer to home for me!
I love this place! I’ve been coming here since I was little and have been satisfied every time! They’ve given me a tour of their kitchen before to show how well they separate gluten free things from everything. They can make ANYTHING gluten free because they have a gluten free fryer (for French fries and onion rings) and they have gf buns. It’s a little expensive but totally worth it for the quality of food and peace of mind when it comes to gluten free food.
My family and I typically love Wild Willy Burgers. We often go to Maine and Rochester NH to indulge in their amazing Gluten free burgers. However, our first time going to the Worcester location was a HUGH disappointment. Cold fries and burgers, gross gf buns (different from their other locations), and no fixings on burgers like we ordered. We couldn’t even eat the meal. I took my gf bun off because it had a weird taste to it only to find big charred pieces on the burger. So disappointing!!! We spent close to $60 dollars on three burgers and fries, what a waste of money!!!! I will never go back to this location!!!
The staff was knowledgeable and accommodating. I’m celiac and vegan, and my server was able to answer all of my questions without even having to ask the kitchen, which shows the dedication to training staff. It is not on the menu yet, but they have the Beyond Burger, in addition to their two other veggie patties. The fried pickles, peppers, and fries were great. The guacamole rings were exactly what I expected and made with mediocre guacamole, and while I’m glad I tried them, I wouldn’t get them again. According to my friend, the mozzarella sticks were just okay. Portions were weird, as illustrated by the 5 oz of nacho-style cheese sauce that came with our fries. The lettuce on my burger wasn’t crisp, but the rest of the produce was fresh. Prices are very reasonable. If I’m back in the area, I’d return.
Great gluten free food! Nima tester and all gluten free. So hard to find tastey fried eats and the burgers are also great. The hostess let me know there was a risk of cross contamination with sauteed extras in the burgers such as onions and mushrooms which I also appreciated.
I was Soo excited to eat crispy gluten free onion rings! I got my burger in a lettuce wrap, but they also have gluten free buns. Our waitress couldn't have been nicer! And she asked if I had celiac, and brought out my food separate. This place was great!
Great selection of burgers and fries - seems like everything on the menu can be made gluten free. They have a gluten free fryer and most foods are also free of other main allergens. Waitress was very knowledgeable and friendly. If you are ordering for someone with Celiac, they prepare in a separate area and label the food as such. Great fried banana peppers!
I had the onion rings, fries, and burger on a gf bun. I was very sick afterwards. When I placed my order, she said that everything is GF except for the buns. Apparently not.
Comment from business owner Jill, We're disappointed to hear about your experience. We take food safety extremely serious and we're quite concerned about this review, as we've been successfully serving the Celiac community for many years now. Not only are we a trusted friend, but we continue to make significant investments into maintaining the high quality standards you'd expect to find at a GF-friendly restaurant. Our food is always made fresh-to-order and we carefully select premium, Gluten-Free ingredients, which are available for almost all of our menu items. Therefore, we'd really like to learn more about your visit. Please email us @ [email protected] with some additional details about your visit, including your meal selection and/or any food allergies you may have, so we can investigate for root cause.
Lots of GF and vegan options! Manager mentioned his child has allergy so he was are of how his all works. I didn't see certified but there are burger buns (not the crappy styrofoam kind) that were delicious!! Onions rings, fruit snacks even cake was GF. No egg free desserts other than ice cream so we had to pass. Defiantly coming back for the vegan burgers! Pricey, but it's local food
Very yummy food! Gf onion rings, French fries and chicken tenders! I'd pass on the fries next time and get more onion rings they were way better than the fries which were kind of soggy and somewhat burned. Chicken tenders were nice and crispy and no reaction! Staff was very knowledgeable and helpful!
Tasty, and super accommodating with my needs as a celiac. I've eaten here several times and not gotten sick. They cost/healthiness/deliciousness isn't quite perfect, hence the 4 stars, but they're 5+ stars for allergies. Oh, and the root beer is yummy.
So disappointed! I've never been to a Wild Willys so I didn't know what to expect. While ordering I was still excited, based on the prices I thought it was going to be good quality and delicious burgers and sides. But it ended up being way overpriced garbage. The food was greasy and tasteless. And my boyfriend ordered mac and cheese as a side and it was legitimately Kraft macaroni and cheese out of the box. I'll never go back.
Wild Willy's in Worcester is one of my favorite places. They are incredibly accommodating of celiac disease, and the owner has told me to let him know if there's anything else I'd like to see there gluten free. They have all my favorites though! GF chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, onion rings, fish and chips, burgers, fries, etc. It's a must try!
This place is awesome! Literally almost everything is gluten free! Best GF chicken fingers I've had. update 12/2016: now they have mozzarella sticks! served with salsa, so if you're a motz stick connoisseur (like me) bring your own marinara sauce.
This place is unbelievable with a great selection of gluten free food. They occasionally introduce "specials" such as mozzarella sticks, pigs in a blanket, cheese/bacon/potato balls, etc and they are all gluten free. Burgers are cooked as ordered. Service is great. Beware... not ALL Wild Willy's have gluten free items. Go to the one in Worcester. It's the best!
I have Celiacs Disease and the gluten free options have not made me bedridden! Sometimes it's hard to trust places and sometimes you have to take the blow if its cross contaminated, but this place is so delicious - gives me hope for future restaurants to accommodate for my disease. Love the food and love the atmosphere!
Had a wonderful meal with my husband for a date night. Told them I was GF, and they were great. A very tasty GF bun for my awesome burger and the French fries were safe to eat too. Even their chicken fingers were GF (I will make sure to try them next time!) Also had an angry orchard cider to top it off. I loved going to Wild Willy's when I visited York, Maine as a teen so it's nice to have one closer to home too.
Not for someone with Celiac. They have gluten free rolls, but they said there is cross contamination. Would probably be alright for someone who eats gluten free by choice but not someone with celiac disease
Just had to leave Wild Willys York Maine location without eating after being informed that they could not accommodate multiple simultaneous gluten free orders. The man taking orders was rude and actually said he "couldn't believe" that we legitimately needed 4 celiac orders at once. When I asked if he'd rather not serve us, he said "yes." So we left. Um, it's a genetic thing and we're all in the same family. I would not recommend attempting to eat here if you have more than one gf person in your party and even then I'd be prepared for some attitude. If you really can't or don't want to accommodate gluten free, don't advertise it. I have eaten here before without getting sick, but doubt I'll be back because I don't appreciate being called a liar about a medical condition I didn't choose.
Great burgers. They are pretty big. My 6 yr and 9 yr old boys only ate 1/2. Fries are fresh cut and cooked in dedicated fryer. Other gf options include chicken sandwich and ice cream for dessert. Not a huge gf menu, but it's a burger and fry place, so get the burger and fries! Yummm.
Awesome!!! Celiac menu available. They are very clear that you cannot substitute anything on the menu if you have celiacs. Not to worry, the burger was fantastic, the bun was soft, and I got to eat fries with my family! They recommend ordering all fries for the table off the GF menu so there is no risk of contamination. The fries are cooked in dedicated oil. The GF order was placed separately and delivered on a separate tray. My non-celiac family members were equally excited with the food and all want to go back too. Everyone was happy! Can't wait to go back!!!
Awesome GF Burger. Gluten free menu and dedicated fryer. French fries are awesome! They asked me if I had an issue with cross contamination (I do) and they cleared the line to prevent it. Children's menu is limited at this location.
I got the Willy Burger with a side of fries and it was delicious. When you enter the restaurant they hand you a menu(request a gluten free one) and have you figure out what you want to eat. Then you enter your order and ask if you choose to be gluten free or have celiac and mark the order to symbolize your choice. You then grab a booth and wait for your number to be called. This place is the go to place for people with celiac and who eat gluten free. I just got sick a few weeks ago from gluten at another place and this place made be feel safe from gluten.
The burger I ordered exceeded expectations. It was full of flavor and no cross contamination. They even have a fryer devoted to gf fries which are phenomenal! I didn't give five stars because the service was awkward. Not being there before I didn't understand that you ordered first then grabbed an available seat if there was one. It's a small place but very popular! They were packed. Knowing what to expect from now on I'm sure I'll have a better rating to give.
The burgers are great & I've never had a reaction here. I'm only giving it three stars because the french fries are prepared in the fryer with glutened items, so not being able to complete the meal with fries is a huge negative for me. The Quincy location has gf fries.
Great, great GF burgers. They are very knowledgable about what is safe for celiacs, and for those who are just " gluten sensitive". That being said, in order to have your GF burger to be safe for a celiac, there are limitations such as not putting your bun on the grill (needs to be toasted) and only certain toppings are safe because of cross contamination from the spoons. (No sautéed onions!) I have mixed feelings, because when Wild Willy's was in Portland, they had a special GF section on their grill, and ALL toppings were available. BUT, here in York, the French fries are made in safe friers and are delicious!! Also, when we were there, the white vinegar on the tables was distilled, and safe! Yum! The one thing we really noticed though was an attitude from the front staff, possibly because of ordering GF. Very uncomfortable. All in all, my husband and I will probably be back if we're down there again.
A small, pleasant place with a decent burger (on Udis) and GOOD fries (dedicated drier) They asked if my GF order was Celiac then informed the kitchen throughly. Side bonus: Bell & Evan chicken and Pineland Farms beef available. Downside: the food is good, the bathrooms are distinctly NOT handicap friendly.
I have to say, I've tried a lot of very decent gluten free burgers in my area (Red Robin and British Beer Company, to name a few) but I think this one may be the best one I've tried yet. The only bad thing I have to say about them is that the GF menu is not available online. I've now tried the "Willy" burger and the "Conestoga" and both were really really yummy. The rolls are particularly good, better than the standard Udi's rolls I've had other places. I'm not sure where they get them from, but I definitely hadn't had them anywhere else before. The fries are also GF - personally, I thought the fries were nothing special but put some salt on them and they're not bad. The burgers are the real draw for me - I will definitely be back many times. This would definitely be a good place to bring kids!
burgers? this is the spot! opened the door and the aroma said it all. menu is clearly marked. The staff here made me feel like eating GF was NORMAL. our party had; outlaw Burger, willy burger, sweet potato fries, root beer float all GF they have angry orchard hard cider 3 locations in MA, 1 location in Maine and New Hampshire
Don't know why this particular location takes gluten free product (chicken fingers, fries, etc) and makes then not gluten free. The reason i was told the onions aren't GF at the Worcester location is because the ladle touches the regular bread. You think they'd stop doing that, but at least they're good about cross contamination.
Was surprised to learn the fries are not gluten free, but understandable. The guacamole and peppers and onions are not gluten free though and I'm really confused as to why. They have no signage about their gluten free options and by asking I opened a Pandora's box of all the odd things that are usually gluten free in every other restaurant.
I asked if the ice cream (giffords) was gf and the woman wasn't 100% sure so she went and brought the ingredients label out for me to read, without any prompting from me. Then she mentioned they had gone through gf training. Love that!!! Great burger! Just wish they had a separate fryer so I could enjoy the fries :)
Customer service was awesome! I asked for no bun not knowing they had gluten free and they asked if it was for celiac and he said they have gluten free buns and will even make the fries and burger in a GF safe/separate grill and fryer. Everything was so tasty!!!
Excellent base product, my friends have been coming here for a while as the burgers are such a high quality and very reasonably priced. The gluten free bun was fantastic I'd love to know what brand/where they got it because it was great. The restaurant has a separate gluten free menu and was very easy to follow what was gluten free. I'd definitely go back!
The burgers are great and they advertise as gluten free. The front end staff, however, has had an attitude each time my family has been here and has ordered a celiac meal. I know that it takes a cook's attention to make a celiac meal more than a normal meal and it might be a challenge when the kitchen is busy, but IF THEY ADVERTISE THAT THEY ARE GLUTEN FREE THEN THEY SHOULD BE PREPARED TO DEAL WITH IT WITHOUT MAKING ME FEEL GUILTY ABOUT IT! Never a good feeling when you see the cook roll his eyes and complain to the front staff when a celiac order comes in. My wife and kids did not choose to have Celiacs and we are grateful whenever a restaurant offers them any option to eat out but we are choosing not to eat here anymore.
