No GF menu but the server (Aaron) was very knowledgeable. He would ask questions of the kitchen and did an outstanding job. We had the tomato bisque (very good), pistachio encrusted whitefish ( perfectly cooked), and ice cream sundae no brownie. Definitely go back here.
Good options! But no GF menu. It is so much easier and comforting when there is a GF menu because you are not putting your health in the hands of your server's memory. Our server needed to check on whether or not the fries were GF. They are NOT.
Don't go here. No allergy menu and the Waiter wouldn't work with us. He tried to steer us wrong so we ended up leaving.
I was really disappointed in our meal. It was only a mediocre burger on a dry bun. There was no gluten free menu or allergen list. Our server was great and helped us out quite a bit. They switched to their dinner menu an hour early making prices higher and options fewer.
Menu was easy to navigate and staff very kind & knowledgable. They have gf buns so I had the tavern burger which almost made me choke bc it was so dry & tasteless. My son had the cowboy burger on a regular bun & also said it had very little taste. Everything else concerning food safety was stellar. You can tell these folks have a handle on food allergies. Expensive for such poor food quality though. Might try a salad if ever in the area again.
Told the hostess we needed gluten free and asked if they had options. She said yes and we decided to give it a try. My son had a cheeseburger on a gluten free bun with gluten free kettle chips. They do not have a dedicated fryer. The food was prepared in a separate area from the other food and his bun was even toasted! The bun looked home made, too. Waitress knew what he could have and was patient with our questions. No reactions and he has Celiac disease. We will go back next time we are on Mackinaw Island.
I liked this restaurant even before my celiac diagnosis, and now it is my favorite on the island. We sat at the (well stocked) bar, where I could see an allergy awareness poster tacked on the wall. Our bartender, Stephanie, was knowledgeable about gluten and celiac disease, and even checked to make sure that I didn't have other food allergies because she knew that they tended to cluster. I got the excellent walnut summer salad with chicken, but was assured that most of the menu was already gluten free or could easily be made so (GF sandwich buns, no croutons, avoid the salad dressings with soy sauce).
Had the walnut summer salad and it was amazing. Sat at the bar and the male bartender was very knowledgeable about gluten free. He was honest that the gluten free buns were small dinner rolls and suggested the salad, which was one of the best I've ever had!
No dedicated GF menu. We had the Rueben and philly cheese steak. Both on GF buns with kettle chips. Rueben had more taste. It was good, not great. Good staff. Would go back to try something else.
I got the chicken sandwich on a gf bun. The waitress let me know that the fries weren't safe due to cross contamination (which is the case for major places) but made me feel better that she presented the information to me so she knew about the importance of being safe. Excellent meal with the kettle chips and reasonable prices!
I had dinner here with my wife and two teenage daughters. Finding food I can eat is difficult, as I have celiac disease. However, they have a good range of gluten-free foods, and were very helpful in letting me know what was and was not safe. They have some gluten-free pastas and gluten-free rolls, but they don't have a dedicated fryer, so anything fried is not an option if you have celiac. They do have gluten-free chips to substitute, however. Food quality was excellent. My wife and I shared the walnut cherry blue cheese salad, which I highly recommend. My older daughter was happy with her burger, and my younger daughter enjoyed soup and the Asian Chicken salad. A tasty meal, with helpful staff, and a good option if you have special dietary needs.
Yes! This place is a must! Great gf options and good food! One of the sailboat teams was celebrating the end of their race at the table next to ours and was a good time. I will definitely be returning!
So, they were very welcoming, explained my menu options, and have lots of GF options. I carefully discussed my order and my needs in advance and when at the table. I ordered fish and risotto and I was SO SICK within 30 minutes of finishing my dinner. It was very busy last night (sailboat racing weekend) and I suspect my meal was not prepped on a cleaned grill as claimed (they warned me that they have shared cook spaces, but that they would be cleaned).
Excellent choice while on the island. Our server was excellent and the food was great and did not mess with me. I got a burger with a GF bun. FYI the fries are breaded so for anybody even thinking about it, don't try them.
Visited last month. Lots of GF options on the menu. It Was hard to decide, but settled on the pot roast which did not disappoint. Very generous portion.
Delicious! Dined here twice during our stay on Mackinac Island, dinner and then lunch. Servers were very knowledgable about which menu items could be prepared GF. Most of their sandwiches could be prepared on a GF bun. They also have GF pasta. I had the salt and pepper shrimp for dinner and it was amazing! For lunch I had the grilled chicken sandwich in a GF bun served with kettle chips. Very good!
My girls loved the gluten free bun. The waitress was knowledgeable about cross contamination issues, no French fries because they also fry breaded white fish. The food was amazing and the lunch bill for 5 was $91. We were all very happy and full.
very knowledgeable waitress and good food. had prime rib and tried the pot roast. as for cost....nothing on the island is cheap....at least this was good

There is no actual gluten free menu there are a few items that are supposedly gluten free on the menu. That night I had awful stomach cramps after eating the supposed gluten free item and my tummy hasn't been right since. It also didn't taste very good and was a bit expensive for the quality in my opinion.
Had gluten free options that were pretty extensive. Food was good.
Everything on their menu is gluten free apart from the fried food items. They carry gluten free pasta but ask that you allow 30 minutes for the dish. No problem! You get to eat pasta. They are incredible when it comes to dealing with allergies.

Best pot roast I have had in a long time. Waitress was knowledgable of gluten free items and helped me make my choices. She said things are made to order. Wish I could go back again tonight
No dedicated gluten free menu so you still have to ask about sauces and options, but much of the menu can be made gluten free. Including pasta and buns. Great pot roast sandwich. The pistachio encrusted whitefish was not battered. No fries since they have a common fryer. No cream sauces - apparently thickened with flour. But I also got hard cider and GF dessert was Creme brûlée! Good food, lots of options, delicious food. Would rate it higher if I didn't have to ask about each and every item I was interested in. Good option on Mackinac Island!
Had an excellent meal (prime rib). Service was excellent and our waitress (Karri) was very knowledgable on gluten
Very nice place: good menu, Michigan beers and wines. Our server was very knowledgeable about gluten free items on the menu (even said that she might have a gluten free chocolate cake for dessert), and was able to walk me through my gluten free meal options with obvious knowledge of safe gluten free dining.
I had a TERRIBLE experience at the restaurant. I ordered a BLT on a gluten free bun with homemade potato chips. First of all, there was barely ANY bacon on the sandwich. Next, I have feeling that the chips were fried in the same oil as their breaded items, as I felt awful later. Lastly, as we received our bill, I was shocked and frustrated that there was an extra charge for my bun that was not previously stated by the wait staff or the menu. When I tried to address my waitress about this, she gave me attitude about how it's just their charge for the buns, and they are passing it on to us. She didn't seem to get the fact that I was frustrated because of the hidden charge. I don't think I would EVER go back there.
