I was really excited for this but unfortunately I got SO sick after. I think a mistake was made and the food i was given had gluten in it. No one’s perfect so I just think a mistake was made when I ate here. But, based on other reviews it seems like this does not happen often. Just do your due diligence and double check the food you receive in gf.

So happy I found this place! Their fried food had such a great flavor and the owner even gave me an order of mac&cheese and deep fried GF Oreos when I arrived to pick my order up….AMAZING!

One of THE BEST gluten free food and menu option restaurants I have been. I have tried every item on the gf menu and all of it tastes like you’re eating the real thing. My absolute favorite is the chicken and waffles with the syrup. The customer service is also always a 10/10. Definitely a go to spot.

I cannot recommend this place enough. For celiacs such as myself, Yo Mama’s is worth an entire road trip for. They can do their whole menu GF-friend chicken, waffles, biscuits, buns (and not the crumbly buns!), fries, even fried Oreos! Very kind wait staff. This place is busy for good reason! Separate fryer as well. The owner is knowledgeable, friendly, and reassuring. Please go here! Especially if you miss fried chicken as I do:)

Wow!! I forgot I’m GF with these waffles and wings!! Hot wings are the bomb. The waffle is very good with their special syrup. Definitely will be my go to place when I’m back in Birmingham!!!
Crystal was very helpful in letting me know what I could have. I am allergic to gluten, dairy, and soy. She even told me what brand the bun was so I could make sure! My husband is just gluten free and he got the gluten free fried Oreos and he said they were “stupid good”
Great atmosphere and really good gluten free options! I had the chicken and waffles and didn’t show any signs of cross contamination. I would 100% recommend.
I love it! I got the bbq burger with gluten free bun! It was delicious the fry’s are I’m a dedicated fryer! My mom got the gluten free shrimp! It was also gluten free! My dad got gluten free hot wings! Amazing if you’re in the area!
This place was absolutely wonderful for someone who is new to Birmingham and was looking for some comfort foods. Unfortunately their waffles are not dairy free, but their fried chicken tenders and fries were delicious!

Amazing Fried chicken that my stepdad could eat and he was almost in tears it’s been so long since he could have fried chicken. Very diligent on Gluten Free options if you are worried about gluten free this is the place to be!

Hard to say as 2 of our party got sick. Only one of them has celiac and we think it was the coleslaw, only thing they ate that the rest of us didn't. Clearly understood celiac and said entire menu is gf. Nevertheless they marker our order as gf. Catfish was excellent as were the house cut fries and Lemonade.
My celiac daughter ate here today for the first time and it was wonderful! They know celiac and have separate waffle irons for gluten free. Chicken and waffles was amazing!

Food was very good. Also tried the lemonade, it’s homemade, best lemonade I’ve had. They said that they fry everything with gluten free breading. They have a separate waffle maker for gf and non-gf waffles. I had the shrimp, fries, chicken, and waffle, they were all very delicious and you couldn’t tell they were gf! Staff is very friendly and always happy to help. Food was about $45 for 1 drink and 2 dishes.
Had a wonderful experience at Yo Mama. The food was outstanding and many items celiacs don’t get very often; fried Oreos, fried shrimp, fried chicken and waffles. The staff was so friendly which is always a plus.

The food was wonderful! Almost entirely gluten free. I was traveling and I always worry about contamination but I never had any issues.
Delicious and safe food! My celiac son was so excited to actually be able to enjoy breaded chicken fingers at a restaurant! He said they were delicious! My husband got wings and raved about them too. The fried gluten-free Oreos were wonderful!

Yo’ Mama’s is FANTASTIC. Everything they fry is gluten free, so you’re safe no matter what you get. The owner’s sister is gf and has a friend with Celiac, so they are incredibly safe.
I had the chicken and waffles. The waffle was so soft and fluffy with the perfect sweetness. The chicken was very moist with a great breading. My non gluten free family loved it too, and said they wouldn’t have even known it was gluten free. The owner put all of our orders in as a gluten allergy (without me asking) just so that I could try everything at the table. When she found out I hadn’t tried what my brother had (fried shrimp), she brought me out one just so that I could try it. The care and attention to detail were incredible. I’ll 100% be back if I find myself in Birmingham again.
So well reviewed I had to try it out myself! Most things are gluten free - I had the chicken and waffles and they were delicious. Box came out with ‘GF’ written on it but didn’t see what it was like in the kitchen so not sure what they’re doing behind the scenes to prevent cross contamination (which is the only reason I put 4 stars for safety for the uncertainty). I didn’t have any reaction though. My friend (not GF) said the fish tacos were amazing. Staff were lovely and helpful. A great place!

SO delicious!!!! I had the GF chicken and waffles with their homemade butter and syrup. So. Freaking. Delicious. Every single item on the menu is gluten free or can be gluten free (the waffle in my meal could be gluten free or not) so there really isn't much cross contamination, if any at all. The owner was so sweet as well. Looking forward to going back!

We made a detour in our roadtrip so our celiac kid could have a big meal. I was surprised to see a line out the door at 11 on a weekday. We tried gf waffle, tenders, burger, fries and fried oreos. It was all great! Owner seemed knowledgeable and I heard about half the orders were for gf.
Fried shrimp is unbelievably good! Great service always! Thankful for YoMammas❤❤
Heaven…visiting from an area with no GF options…ordered the GF chicken/waffles with hot peaches and homemade syrup and added the GF Mac and cheese(yum!!). Portion was huge and I have extra to take home. Everyone in our party thought the food was delicious. Wonderful customer service and if I could eat here everyday I would. Looking forward to stopping here again.
im a VERY sensitive celiac and i got their chicken and waffles LET ME JUST SAY best meal i’ve had in a long time since being diagnosed and Denise at the register was very knowledgeable and knew exactly how to handle the food for someone with celiac and i can safely say i wasn’t glutened
It was all so good, but the grilled fish tacos were amazing. Incredible and very friendly service, can’t say enough good things about this place.
The fried chicken was so amazing!!! Hadn’t had fried chicken since I was diagnosed and wow, what a treat! They told me they also serve gluten-free French toast and biscuits on weekend mornings!
Found this place on this app while in Birmingham at a conference. Absolutely phenomenal! Everything they fry is GF. I ordered the hot wings plate extra crispy and it was great.
This is my fav place for lunch downtown- was my first fried chicken and shrimp in 20 years! Crystal and company are simply amazing…great food!
The food is truly delicious and the owner and staff fully educated on celiac. We had shrimp and grits, chicken fingers and waffles, and fried catfish. All made gf, meat did NOT come out of a freezer, batter crispy and well-seasoned, waffle tasty and came with syrup that was a brown sugar and butter heavenly concoction. We are in town for 2 days, and we will be back tomorrow, when I have big plans for a fried pork chop, Mac and cheese and cornbread.
A DREAM! Truly truly floating on clouds after eating this food. If you have Celiac- this is THE place. Delicious fried foods made with love (and everything is amazing).

I have found my new favorite restaurant! We ordered fish tacos with corn tortillas, one fried and one grilled, chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, and fried Oreos. All of the food was delicious in its own right, but the fact that it was all gluten free makes it astounding! The prices were reasonable, the portions were more than enough, and the flavors were unbelievable. Crystal checked on us and was personable and friendly. We are just blown away. This is a new staple spot for us.

The staff and owner were super knowledgeable about all allergies and all of the fried food is gluten free so there's no cross contamination. This was excellent. Blew me away.
