Nice atmosphere, not a long wait despite having no reservations. Everything that is gluten free has a GF noted next to it. Our waitress was very friendly and very knowledgeable about what was safe and not safe. I had a grilled salmon, baked potatoes and broccoli with garlic butter. She even recommended a flourless chocolate cake for dessert that was also gluten free.
Delicious salmon and baked potato
Great selection on the GF menu. My son did not like the food, he said it didn’t taste like anything, but it could be that he didn’t want to eat this type of food. He had the filet mignon, mash potatoes and broccoli. Service was great, staff was friendly. They even have a gluten-free dessert.
I called ahead of time, and the gentleman who answered was enthusiastic and confident in their Gluten Free selection, he stated that most of the menu can be gluten free, and there is even a separate menu.
My wife ordered the Gluten Free NY Strip, with a loaded baked potato and Salad. The Server was very aware of not adding croutons.
I ordered the Prime Rib with the loaded baked potato, and a salad (Not Gluten Free) and I requested the croutons in mine.
He also reiterated as they brought the food out that she had the Gluten Free Allergy and everything was made separate.
The food was delicious, and my wife didn't get sick.
We're definitely going back.
... Wish they added onion in their salad
No gluten free menu. Staff friendly, but not knowledgeable. Will not be back. Cross contamination galore.
Gluten free menu, which is pretty rare in this area. Steak was excellent, nice and tender. Not sure about cross-contamination, as I am not the most sensitive celiac. If you can, call them and ask. They also have a gluten-free chocolate dessert, which I didn't get to try. Wait staff and the manager are very nice.
Staff was not knowledgeable about how food is prepared, manager advised that the restaurant can not guarantee food would not be cross contaminated. Manager did at least take the time to go over everything on the menu and really did make an attempt to see if they could accommodate. He did offer to wash a separate pan for my friend with gluten sensitivity & shellfish allergy (they grill everything on same grill) for her steak. I opted not to chance it and had a baked potato. 3 Star since food was decent and manager was helpful
There have been a few times after ordering from the GF menu that we have had to stop waiters from setting bread on our table. Other than that I have had good experiences here. I have Celiac and explain every time about cross contamination and they seem helpful and understanding. They have a gluten free menu with good selection. Also they have a GF dessert (chocolate cake)
I didn't get sick from gluten after eating here 3 times.
Gluten free menu with plenty of options. My steak was cooked perfectly and the mashed potatoes were delicious
For the Gluten & dairy free folks - We rarely go out to eat due to the hassle of explanation and cross contamination but it was the hubby's bday so I called first to question the manager and we forged ahead. We told our server about our allergies and he asked us several questions, went over everything twice then got the manager to go over it again to be sure we'd be ok. They didn't make us feel like the pains in the butt that some restaurants have - bonus points. The manager himself delivered the food - steaks, brocolli (the only veggie that is not already prepped with butter) and baked potatoes. So the reason the rating is not a 5 star - the plating was terrible - I can't believe a chef let that plate out of his kitchen; it was an embarrassment. This big stark white plate with a grayish looking piece of meat and 2 bright green stalks of brocolli and a lot of empty space (they forgot the potatoes). Once the potatoes made it onto the plate it looked a little less sad. We brought our own container of Earth Balance and slapped some on the steak, broccoli and potato. Even though the meat looked pathetic, it tasted delicious - as did everything else. And the service was great. We'll definitely be back. Shout out to our server - Jacob and the manager, Kenan.
The wait staff had no appreciation, sensitivity or knowledge of Celiac. I asked the hostess if staff received training in food allergies, she said, "no." I asked if she knew why they had a gluten free menu, she said, "because some people ask for it." I asked her if she had heard of Celiac, she said, "no." I suppose that helped explain why I ended up with croutons in my salad and why I was asked what type of cake I might like for dessert, even after I told them I had Celiac. Amazing! Oh, the steak was mediocre to boot.
Excellent choices to choose from.
Each time I've eaten here, the staff have been helpful and knowledgeable. I do feel about as safe as I can at a restaurant. It's kind of exciting to find both a gluten free appetizer (artichoke) and a dessert (flourless chocolate cake) in addition to the steak and chicken entrées. Probably seafood too (I don't eat fish.) There is a good selection of choices for sides too. I've chosen this restaurant for my birthday dinner with family and it was a favorite as a kid.
Cattle Company Steakhouse is affiliated with Black Angus and has the identical menu. You can look up the gluten free menu on the Black Angus website beforehand. They have a good variety to choose from. Plenty is side choices. Only one gluten free appetizer and one dessert. Drinks aren't listed so you'll have to ask what is gluten free.Prices range from under $20 for chicken to $30 for steak. They have a two person feast for $62; one appetizer, two full entrees, two sides each, one shared dessert. My wife and I love this option when we're both in the mood for steak. The appetizer is artichoke. We got three halves. It was delicious. The preparation of the artichoke was great. And it just whet our appetite for the steaks.I had New York and my wife had rib eye. They were both delicious. Cooked rare and well seasoned. Easy to cut; no tough parts. Neither of us finished because we knew dessert was coming. The dessert was flourless chocolate cake. It was good and chocolatey. Nothing special. Similar to what I've found at many restaurants now. Flourless chocolate cake is becoming the standard gluten free dessert on menus. My only critique was that our water request was initially forgotten. We weren't brought water when seated. When we ordered we asked for water in addition to ordering drinks. We had to flag somebody down to get water.
A very good gluten free menu. GF kids menu too!!
Not a huge selection but at least they offer a gf menu.
best steakhouse in Anchorage, hands down. menus on the table have gf items listed and a delicious flourless chocolate dessert.
