Pleasantly surprised bij Ike's. They knew what they were talking about. Had gluten free bread and a list of which allergines (lactose/gluten/etc) are used. Super! Very big portions for a reasonable price.

Outstanding sandwiches! Their gluten free bread was excellent and the very knowledgeable on gluten allergies. They took precautions as well. The menu doesn’t have each sandwich labeled as gluten free or not, but they had a folder at the order counter with each ingredients listed allergies. They said they were trying a new gluten free bread and it was excellent. All around a great sandwich.

We order gf 63 Hella Fat Bastard sandwich for my daughter. They are very helpful in making it gluten free. Told me to substitute Mozzarella cheese and dirty sauce. We really appreciate that.

best best best gluten free bread/sandwich i’ve ever had! they just opened today, but we’re extremely knowledgeable about what was gluten free and kept the sandwich made in a separate part of the kitchen and bagged my sandwich in a separate bag and labeled it with a gf label!! (coming from a celiac) kept all the percautions to keep me safe!

I have ordered from here 4 times the the first time they did use gluten free bread, the 2nd time they ran out and gave me whole grain. The third time I got the right bread again but the 4th time I did not. It’s a true 50/50 experience where it’s either great or it’s just bad.

We’ve stopped at many Ike’s love & sandwiches and they do such a good job to take care of their celiac community. They have separate area and condiments to make sandwiches for us and they are sooo good! Don’t hesitate. You’ll love it.

I've eaten here a few times in recent months and have never had an issue. Staff seems very knowledgeable about gluten free protocol. The food is delicious. The gluten free bread is some of the best.

The gluten free bread is fantastic. They take note of whether gf is a preference or allergy. They bake gf bread separately. And change gloves and cover the surfaces to prevent gluten contamination.

My celiac kids love the gluten free bread here. If you say it’s an allergy, they change gloves and utensils and keep everything on foil. My kids have never gotten sick from the sandwiches.

they have the absolute best gluten free bread i’ve ever had!! i’m not even exaggerating. It was so good I had to go double check they gave me the right bread. They ask if it’s an allergy or preference and will change their gloves for you and make it in a gf area. Delicious!! i’m absolutely obsessed.

Great sandwiches. You can check with the staff which sandwiches are gluten free. Be sure to mention that it's a gluten "allergy" and not just a lifestyle choice, and they will have the kitchen change gloves and clean knives before preparing your sandwich. I just have them leave the sandwich whole so as to have one less thing you worry about. The Tony Soprano is my favorite with some Voodoo chips on the side.

The staff at the downtown Tempe location was highly unprofessional, rude, inappropriately dressed, and playing music with profane lyrics. I asked for no cheese and they made my sandwich with cheese. I had to return it and they were rude about having to make it again. Not confident that they take precautions for allergens. I had to ask make sure that were using gluten free bread.

Sandwiches are amazing! I was so happy they came down from NCAL! Tell them you’ve got celiac or an allergy and they’ll be extra cautious! I have celiac and haven’t gotten sick here .
Yes
They have gluten free bread. They are knowledgeable and take steps to avoid cross contamination. Be sure to say gluten free because of an allergy.

They have a separate station where they prep gluten free sandwiches. But they put it through the same oven as other bread so crumbs are flying everywhere in the oven causing cross contamination. I've eaten here over 30 times and I'm a celiac and I've gotten sick half the time. But most recently I did not get sick and they offered to make the sandwich without toasting it, so I can take it home and toast myself. Since I'm a celiac I can't eat here really but I still do every now and then because they are so good. If you're not a celiac you gotta try this place. It's a 5/5 stars but since it's not fully safe for celiacs I gotta go 4.
No
this is a lunch time sandwich shop. A local and friendly feel, very casual. They have gluten-free subs which tastes so good I had to check they were genuinely gluten-free the first time I came here. They prepare gluten-free food in a separate part of the kitchen if you tell them that you have an allergy. you have to ask if the ingredients of each sandwich listed are gluten-free because they don't have a specifically gluten-free menu. Many of the vegetarian meats are not gluten free. In general very helpful and feels safe.
Yes
GF bread, but almost every veggie option has gluten because of the fake meat, so I had almost no choices. Very disappointing!
OMG the gluten free bread here and sandwiches are amazing. They have a dedicated space for gluten free, so you have nothing to worry about. I've been to two other Ike's and even though it's a chain, this one stands out as the best.
Yes
I follow a celiac diet (although not celiac myself) and am sensitive to certain ingredients so it was important to find somewhere that could accommodate allergies. Ike has an amazing menu of items that caters to meat eaters, vegans, and gluten sensitive people alike. They literally have an option called "allergy" to add to the order so that they can accommodate the order as such. I had the Matt Cain with a gluten free bun and no sauce (can't take a risk). I thought for sure it was going to be a dry unremarkable sandwich but was pleasantly surprised to find it tasty, warm, and fresh. The beef created it's own juice which made it delicious and easier to eat. I loved the bun. Made very well and almost like the real yeasty thing. The only thing I found negative was that they had no salt and pepper. That was odd. But regardless, I still had a good sandwich. I commend the team here for careful food handling cause I had no skin reactions and typically celiac/gluten sensitive people are paranoid even eating at places like this because of cross contamination.
Yes
I absolutely love Ike’s. I have Celiac as does my sister. The bread is toasted in a shared space, but I’ve been coming here for years with my sister and never had a problem. Sometimes they toast it on a separate piece of paper to separate the bread from the oven.
Yes
They have good allergen protocols in place. The GF bread is shockingly good and not just crumbly sandwich bread.
Yes
I’m celiac and had an Italian sandwich delivered to me - DELICIOUS- thanks for being around will definitely be ordering again
They have gf buns but put my sandwich on regular bread anyway. The prep area is piled up with food debris.
No
This place is great! Dedicated area for making the gf sandwiches. I had the stiffy tiffy and loved it!
Horrible. I tell the cashier I have celiac, a severe gluten allergy and I asked if they could change the gloves. While she did ask if i ordered the gluten free bread for preference or for allergy and of course I said allergy, after receiving and finishing my sandwich I look at he receipt and it says “gluten free bread preference”. When at other locations it always says allergy (because that’s what I ordered). Then I ask the cashier if they changed the gloves and she says something like no but if you said it was an allergy it wouldn’t have made any difference because there’s breadcrumbs everywhere like in the sauce.... never going there again. Do not recommend unless you just have a gluten free preference
No
Whether it's safe or not depends on the staff. Came here during a busy lunch hour but was fine, came during a quiet dinner hour with younger staff and got glutened. They even put my sandwich in the same bag as the other sandwiches for my family members that weren't gf.
No
Been here several times, staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. Never got sick. Definitely recommend for celiacs.
Yes
So good best sandwich I have a long long time! Celiac, and sensitive to cross contamination and I didn’t get get sick. Had separate area for food prep! Definitely recommend
Yes
Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about their Gluten Free offerings. Highly recommend.
The staff was very knowledgeable about what would not only taste great, but satisfy my dietary needs (celiac and vegan). Always a good time.
I have been waiting for Ike’s to come this way for awhile!! It is really small and it is usually crowded because it is new. I have never had problems and I am GF and lactose free! The manager is the best and knows his stuff. Usually they will even put my sandwich in separate bag from the other regular sandwiches!!
Communicate clearly that you have an allergy. I have never had a problem there. I have celiac and dairy sensitivity. Some locations are set up with a dedicated work space. Can’t really tell here. Ask.
Yes
Richard and Tommy behind the counter were super friendly and knowledgeable about safe food preparation for a celiac. They assured me that they use ingredients from the back, one person handled my sandwich from start to finish, and it was DELICIOUS. The bun was soft and not crumbly. It was unlike any other bread I’ve gotten from any other restaurant. Yay!!!!
Yes
They have the best gluten free bread for the sandwich!
Great place for a Celiac to get a real tasting gluten free sandwhich
Yes
Probably the best gf bread I’ve ever had!! Just specify you have an allergy.
I absolutely love Ike’s!! Not only do they have GF Vegan options, they also prepare the GF items in a completely separate room to ensure that your food doesn’t become contaminated with gluten.
Yes
They looked at me like I was a kicked puppy when I told them I have celiac. Super annoying and condescending.
They have gluten free bread but that's all. No accommodation appears possible in the kitchen. I've gotten sick here twice.
No
I did get mildly glutened here, but it was partially my own fault for forgetting to tell them it was an allergy (they usually ask at other locations, but didn't here). I am assuming they would be more careful with that information, but I would still say that it's not celiac safe. The gf bread was delicious as always (they get it from Mariposa).
No
This place is amazing and they “get it”, eat at ease of cross contamination risk, and the bread is delicious!
Yes
They outsource their gluten free baguettes all the way from Mariposa, my absolute favorite gluten free bakery In the Bay Area!!! Great, safe sandwich!
Yes
Very safe for celiac! They have separate cutting boards, utensils , etc.. I’ve never gotten sick here and I love this place!
Yes
One of the best gluten free sandwich places I’ve been to. I haven’t had an allergic reaction here yet.
Yes
