Very sad. Everyone was so happy with their experience here, but the person who helped me seemed uninterested in answering questions about fryers or grills. They had no clue on menu items or safety. The problem wasn’t they were new or confused, they just didn’t care. I also was the only person in the restaurant at 2:30 so it wasn’t rush time. I try to always sweet and polite because I know gluten precautions can be a pain, but smash burger really let me down.

Bun is great. I reacted to the fries. The burger is great, though.
Very good burger! Best and closest to a real “fast food” burger I have found. Delicious!!!!

Have gluten free buns as an option. Unclear about the fries and cross contamination. Workers did not seem to care much about the GF bun selection which would point to no allergy trainings.

Have eaten here regularly and have not gotten sick. They have Udi’s gluten free buns and a dedicated fryer for their fries and tots. Beef and Turkey burgers, grilled chicken and wings are GF. Their website is great - lists all the ingredients of each item and you can filter your specific allergies.
This place is great! They specify if it’s an allergy or not. Never had any reactions after eating here.

When we ordered it was fine but then they said they didn’t have any buns, but then they found out they had some but they were frozen. So I decided to get a lettuce wrap instead, when it came out it wasn’t wrapped in lettuce it was just put on top of shredded lettuce. (Also warning they fry their fry’s in the same oil as everything else)

Delicious burgers and they offer gluten free buns! Not bad, be sure to ask about specifics related to preparation.

I eat here all the time! The food is yummy! The shakes are not safe! Also do not get the buns toasted. Say “allergy” when ordering and they will separate items.

I came here after a few hours of dartying and it was the most magical experience of my life. While under the influence I ordered a bbq bacon brisket burger and sweet potato fries and licked my plate clean. They said the fries were fried separately and nothing made me sick so I believe them. The burger was alright, not a lot of bbq sauce and I think a regular cheeseburger probably would have been better. I tried to get the double and the lovely cashier informed me you only get a second patty, and no extra brisket or bacon, so I just got a single. Their website has super great tools for checking what has gluten or other allergens so it is very easy to see everything, but not a lot of info on the signs in store. Cannot wait to go back, amazing spot to have on campus

Good burger and safe fries. I think a $2 upcharge for the gf bun is absurd but what can you do? They also have dairy-free shakes that are very good although a little unusual.

We’ve been coming here for a few years without issue after good experiences with a dedicated Gf and strict safety protocols. The last few times my celiac daughter has had a bad stomachache after, so they might have changed things. We will have another conversation with the manager if we decide to come back.

Had a single smash burger with Udi’s bun and it was good. However, I was a little suspicious of the website and others sites claiming fries had a dedicated fryer. I decided to use my Nima sensor on the sweet potato fries and they tested positive- gluten found. I’m so happy I had the Nima with me, it saved the day. Could’ve tested positive for cross contamination even with a dedicated fryer but who knows…
Take away is that it is safer to get a burger. I would’ve tested the burger patties too but only had 1 capsule.
Most likely won’t return…trying to weed out restaurants that claim to be safe and aren’t.

Staff didn’t know what celiac or gluten was. That was the first red flag. I should’ve left but let my son order a kids burger and fries marked with a gluten allergy. I asked them to change gloves etc but they were so confused. Now my son is in pain and has diarrhea. This is his first time being glutened since his diagnosis in 2021.

These guys are great! First, we had a 2 hour flight delay and were a little frazzled. We decided to try them even the there was alarge line.
Totally worth it! My wife forgot to specify gluten free bum and we didn't realize our mistake until after 5 minutes. When I let them know they jumped all over it to make sure my wife was safe. The food was great!!
I really appreciate the extra effort they made for usa
Also, dedicated fryer for their delicious smash fries! Really helped turn a bad situation around for us!

I felt super safe. Stated they did have a dedicated fryer, buns not toasted on grill and sauces (smash sauce) is with spatula so for GF they just put ketchup (from a squeeze bottle). Packages my GF in a separate bag.

They seem to be careful in the preparation of my celiac daughter's food. She gets the gf bun cheeseburger plain and the fries. They have been inconsistent in their response about fries being gf, but were positive this last time that they were (no shared frier) so we tried them. Daughter has never been sick or had an upset belly afterwards.

Smash burger was amazing! I’m an extremely symptomatic celiac and I didn’t have any problems here. The workers were willing to change gloves, and the tray was separated from the others.
I got a cheeseburger with rosemary fries and both were perfect! They have a separate fryer for the fries, and gluten free buns for any alterations you’d want to make.

We had a GF bun on the burger and the rosemary fries, no upset stomach at all. The staff was accommodating and was kind about changing gloves and not setting the burger on the regular surfaces. My daughter is a highly sensitive diagnosed Celiac.

This place was amazing!! I have celiac and I could eat their buns, an amazing coffee milkshake, sweet potato fries, and all toppings for the burger except for haystack onions. You can have all flavors of milkshakes except for Oreo. The buns are really good and the fries are shoestring style and super delicious. All condiments are gluten-free and I have never felt sick eating here!! Ate here 2x in a week when I discovered it 😂😂

At this SmashBurger in Sugar Land, they are very helpful with my gluten allergy / Celiac. The cashiers and managers are helpful, because they talk with the kitchen employees, when I place my order. There are gluten-free hamburger buns at SmashBurger. I am able to eat the French fries, also.

the cashier told me that all of their fries are cooked in a dedicated gluten free fryer. i’ve seen rave reviews about smash burger online and everyone should absolutely try it. the gluten free buns are so good and this is one of the best burgers i’ve had in years :)
the only thing that appeared to not be gluten free was the chicken tenders (breaded) but everything else had a gluten free option for a bun or were fries

Disclaimer : I do not have Celiac, I have to follow the LowFODMAP diet, or else good makes me sick. So cross contamination is not something I would typically.
My husband really wanted a burger, so we decided to go to Smashburger. I knew from before offer a gluten free bun so I got that option. It looked very different from last year so I questioned it and was assured it was the GF Bun. Once I started to eat it I could tell right away it was as it crumbled very easily, and had the very distinct taste. Its very hard to know from their menu what is safe to eat and not, and I don't believe my food was prepared any differently than others.

I’m scratching this place off my list. They had a meltdown of some sort & all the staff quit at once. They used to be awesome but they just don’t have anyone who knows about gluten free. This is my second time in here and it’s just an unhappy vibe - and unsafe for gluten free.
They bungled my fries after I asked whether they were gluten free. They came in the same bag as my son’s order with gluten.
Also the fries were really greasy. The manager seemed grumpy that i commented. It’s just not the same place….

They had food marked gluten free, but the bun turned out to be whole grain instead of gluten free! It’s a terrible mistake for a restaurant to make.

I just attempted to order a gluten free cheeseburger, which I’ve had several times, but was told the only gluten free item is the bun….
I politely questioned this, asking, “so the burger isn’t gluten free?”
Response: “no nothing is gluten free other than the bun.”
While I know this is incorrect, i didn’t want to aggravate the employee who had already walked away to continue the phone call conversation he was having.
Smashburger is one of the few places I can typically eat gluten free and this was beyond discouraging.
