Really great experience! Be sure to read the gluten free menu because some of the ingredients aren’t the same. We ordered the GF bbq chicken pizza and it came with pineapple instead of cilantro. It was still delicious just not what we were expecting. I will go back here again! Dedicated GF pizza making station.
This establishment definitely take GF very seriously. I love that they have a separate area to prepare the pizzas and even keep GF toppings separate to avoid cross contamination! Total win!!
However, the quality of the pizza is pretty below average. They use very little sauce and the crust is very dry.
At the end of the day, I'm happy to have another option that wont make me seriously ill, but the quality of the food for the price is such that I think I will only go back if it was the only option or if a group of friends wanted to go and I happen to tag along.
My husband ate their regular pizza and said the same thing - very dry, little sauce, and overall pretty mediocre pizza.
But I'm rating 4 starts because of their serious effort to avoid cross contamination and to clearly mark their GF food. It is a safe place to eat but maybe not the most tasty.
Was so excited to try the pizza here. It was quite good. However, within minutes of taking the first bite, I could tell there was a potential cross contamination issue. Mild to moderate stomach cramps and bloating. Thankfully not a full gluten reaction, but still very uncomfortable and will not eat there again.
I am gluten free and dairy free, and the staff was helpful and knowledgeable. They also asked which type of oil/cooking spray I would like them to use since we were discussing my food sensitivities. They have a section of the kitchen that is dedicated to gluten free, including separate ingredients. My pizza came out in a box that had a gluten free sticker on it. The crust was good fresh but did not reheat well in my hotel microwave. It might reheat better in an oven.
Second update. Waited a year and tried again lol. October 2023, haven't gotten sick.
Update, got sick the last two times we ordered. Dang it. Something over the year of 2022 changed.
Ordered over the phone. Gluten free was labeled and tasted great. I'm extremely sensitive and didn't get sick.
We’ve eaten here a ton of times. My husband has celiac and is very particular about where he trusts and The Pie is his favorite for pizza. We love the GF chicken, bacon, ranch pizza. It’s so delicious and tasty. Their gluten free bread sticks are good too. They do a good job with cross contamination and keep their gluten free pizzas in labeled boxes rather than on the pizza pans for serving. It’s always been a good experience and my husband has never gotten sick here!
The reviews had me optimistic that this place would be safe, and the staff seemed very knowledgeable when i talked to them. but unfortuantely my gf pie caused a really bad flair up, I was in pain for hours after eating :(.
NOT GLUTEN FREE
I don't know if it was a fluke or if I didn't specify that i am VERY gluten free. But i got sick. At the restraunt i had 3 slices and felt off. (My main cleliac symptoms are a migraine, exhaustion, stomach pain)
I thought that it was probably my fault, shouldnt have used the plates their. Then i went home and tried again (it was $23 with a tip so I didn't want to throw it away). But it was the pizza and not me.
At least I have Tylenol and it is a weekend and I don't have to call out of work 🙃
Other reviews said they had a separate GF prep space, so I felt safe eating here. Even if eating at the restaurant, the pizza comes out in a box and is marked GF. Pizza was good and I didn't have any problems. Separate GF menu. We were at the underground location near the university, so it had an interesting atmosphere.
Lots of red flags. They claim to have a separate kitchen space, but the online ordering is turned off, leaving accuracy to the person taking phone orders. Some pizzas have arrived not having the GF sticker, some have been stored and delivered alongside normal pizzas. I have a severe egg allergy and they don’t seem to be able to resist the urge to add ranch to the box whether I want it or not.
Short of it: I have gotten sick from both locations almost every time I have eaten here.
I have celiac disease and I am pretty sensitive I think because I've been gluten free for so long. I have eaten here several times; both at the underground location and delivery from their other location since work buys from them often. I have gotten sick every time except once I think. It is so hard to find celiac-GF pizza so I break sometime and think 'maybe this time I'll be ok' but I'm not. Tasty but definitely not worth it if you get stabbing digestive abdominal pain from cross contamination.
I went here after being diagnosed. They do have a dedicated kitchen space and I didn’t get sick/contaminated. At this point several years ago, I wasn’t a fan of the pizza. I went back recently craving pizza with the family and I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was! Again, I didn’t get sick! I will go again, in the future, knowing it’s a very safe location. I also had the DF cheese since I am now dairy free as well.
Ogden location GF crust was awful. Like a piece of leather. And it took an hour to come to the table, with two reminders about it. And the cheese and toppings weren't even hot or even cooked all the way. I had a similar experience about two months ago at the Midvale Pie. Thinking I will start looking elsewhere.....
The Pie has been my go to since disclosing I had celiac. I make that they do have a dedicated kitchen because they do use a separate enclosed space. They also change aprons and gloves before entering. They have more info on their website.
AMAZING pizza and breadsticks! They prepare everything in a separate kitchen. They were very careful with how my food was prepared. They definitely understand gluten free and celiac. Everything was fantastic tasting! I was so excited to have cheesy breadsticks again! They also ha e a gluten free menu available online and at the restaurant.
My gluten free items came out in boxes so I knew they were mine, which was nice. I got a pull apart bread and the mini meat pie. I don’t think the sausage is gluten free because it wasn’t listed as an option. The pull apart bread was almost crunchy, not great—I wouldn’t get it again. The pizza was fairly good but a little overdone and crunchy at the edges. Standard thin gluten free crust. The large amount of cheese was nice.
There are breadsticks available that come with marinara and ranch. The pizza is delicious, I really enjoyed the crust and so did my friends who are not gluten free. They serve the gf pizza in a labeled pizza box so you know it’s completely separate from everything as well. Highly recommend!!
The gf pizza and bread sticks here is horrible lol. Go to mod not great pizza but much better than the pie. I've had their regular pizza (on a cheat day that I paid for horribly) and it's amazing but they really need to work on their gf...yuck
The crust is ok. It’s decent if it’s hot OR cold but not warm. Have your oven turned on when you bring it home and warm it up! They have a dedicated area for prep that is curtained off, because of this there are only certain toppings that you can get on your gf pizza. They cook it in the same oven but on dedicated pans. Dining in or taking out they will put it in a box sealed with a gf sticker. They don’t open the box after sealed to prevent cross contamination. Never gotten sick eating here
Staff definitely goes to an effort to avoid cross contamination and the GF pizza is good!
Didn’t get glutened - but felt like there may have been some cross contamination.
Delicious and a separate kitchen to make sure there is no cc
I am newly gluten free and this is one of the first places i went. It was also one of the hardest because i know how amazing the rest of their food is. I had a great experience. The gluten free pizza was delicious in the restaurant. The crust is thin, so reheated the next day it wasn't much to be desired, and my only other complaint is that the pizza price tag was a little higher than i expected. They offer a gluten free beer as well, that wasn't bad at all. Overall, i had a great experience and the pizza and beer were yummy and I'll be going back :)
Pretty good gf pizza. The ordering method is not completely user friendly; as there is a minimal entrance prior to the ordering window/counter which means if there are many people in line you may end up standing outside in the freezing cold. Had the gf Hawaiian minus the onions. It was not bad.
We called to order out and my husband mentioned I have celiac and they immediately started telling him about the gluten free chicken bacon ranch (it's a little different than the gluten one) when we picked it up they said here it is and it's sealed and labeled gluten free (with a striker) I don't have symptoms so I'm not sure about cc but it was delicious and easily worth the 20 bucks. It's a 14 in crust and it's thin but really good!
The salads are NOT gluten free. Chicken bacon ranch pizza is the best
They have a separate area in the kitchen for gluten free. I eat here all the time. BBQ pizza is good too.
