Barbecue sauce is gluten-free
Accommodating. I have several allergies (celiac, dairy, allium, honey, etc) and they were able to make me chicken breast and a salad with tomato, carrot, oil, vinegar, salt, and pepper. I put the chicken on the salad and really enjoyed the meal. Staff was very knowledgeable.

I ate here with my nephew who has Celiac and can’t tolerate any cross contamination and we both did great! I have now eaten there 4 times in the last two months because they have the best full gluten free menu, they have special color plates and the shift manager brings out the GF dishes themselves. So far, Dino has been the best GF restaurant in the Syracuse area for me.

Honestly, I feel 75% of the time they get it absolutely right. I have no idea about cross-contamination policies.
I usually feel ok/good after, I did eat their wings and felt like I was going to get sick to my stomach immediately. That was over a year ago though.
Ribs are so good! Love the food, recommend the mashed potatoes as a side for sure!
Haven’t been in a long time.
A bit pricey but serving sizes are great.

We ate at an event where Dinosaur BBQ supplied the food. The host requested everything GF and explained there was someone with Celiac. I also called to get my own comfort level. I felt very reassured by the person on the phone that they take great caution in their preparation to avoid cross contamination. She even told me "if the host is serving GF rolls, make sure your son goes through the line first to avoid cross contamination." That told me that she understood.
The food was delicious and my son felt safe eating it.

My favorite BBQ place ever!! Staff is so knowledgable about what is and isn’t gluten free (and the majority of foods are gf)! They are very careful about cross contamination and change their gloves when preparing the food. I’ve been coming here for years and never have gotten sick!

Classic BBQ restaurant - brisket, pulled pork, BBQ chicken, ribs and so on. They have a separate GF menu and our server took pains to explain the precautions that would be taken by the kitchento prevent cross contamination. We had combo platters and the food was nicely cooked with a large choice of sides. GF dishes are delivered separately and are on red plates for confirmation. Gluten free beer is available. Excellent service. Recommended.

Staff were great, everyone was very knowledgeable. There was a gf menu and the only thing I couldn't get was the bun or cornbread :((. I got the sliders duo with mashed potatoes and coleslaw on the side. No symptoms, food was amazing and tasteful.

Great gf Celiac safe smoked wings!! Staff were great, knowledge, and answered all my questions. They have a separate gf menu, just ask. Gf buns would be great, didn't seem like they were an option based on the menu, but the wings were huge and left me wanting for nothing else. Definitely worth a visit. Gluten eaters appreciated it here too.

Restaurant was pretty good about gf options and questions. They have a separate gf menu that has a lot more options than I expected, new gf rolls for the sandwiches, and special colored plates to mark the food. At least our waitress knew what she was doing, and walked me through everything and answered all of my questions without hesitation. Super smooth night. I ordered the combo with chicken, brisket, steamed greens, and beans. Took half of it home for left overs. I did not have a reaction after either meal.

This place was great! They have a separate GF menu, wait staff is very knowledgeable about GF and allergy prep. Many items are naturally GF and GF plates I was told are prepped separately. My meal came out on a different plate that they keep separate for GF meals and brought to the table separately by the manager. The only problem was that the food looked so delicious I immediately began to consume it before taking a photo.

I attended an event catered by this restaurant that was supposed to have several gluten free options. Unfortunately they immediately cross contaminated several of the options and even in sides I found gluten noodles. It seems like their catering is not up to snuff and as a result I got very sick.

I had the 1/4 rack of baby back ribs with the cucumber tomatoes salad and BBQ beans as sides. It was delicious!! I made sure to let Jenn know I was celiac and they verified when the food was delivered it was gf. No reaction to it. I wish I lived nearby because I would be back!

This is a must stop if you’re in Buffalo! The food is incredible and even better, they really understand celiac and have so many safety precautions in place. Ask for a gluten free menu when you’re being seated. There are so many choices for gluten free. Personally, I think everyone should try the applesauce - it’s homemade and honestly tastes like apple pie. Gluten free food gets flagged for the kitchen, they wash their hands, switch their gloves and serve food on a red colored plate. Celiacs can definitely eat here safely and enjoy fantastic bbq!!!

Driving through Syracuse so ordered online and specified gluten allergy for both a kids grilled cheese and burger. Both looked too good to be true and they were because when I spoke to the cashier she said they don’t have GF bread or buns. I had the ticket which clearly read “allergy- gluten allergy” under both items which she showed to the cook who seemed like he could care less. She apologized and said they would remake the burger without the bun but I was extremely hesitant to eat it. Was nauseous and eventually vomited after eating some deviled eggs and part of the remade burger 😞 So disappointing especially since I’ve read good reviews on here. Maybe just an off day but Celiacs be very cautious here.

This is the only place in the Rochester area that I have never gotten sick from eating at. Every server I have ever had knew exactly what celiacs was and were knowledgeable beyond belief. They bring your food out on a different colored plate. They offer a separate menu but honestly the server can tell you everything you need to know. I am super sensitive to cross-contamination and this is the only place I never worry about eating at!

They have a GF menu with lots of options.
They also verbally announced my allergen plate when they brought it to the table, and I noticed that my plate was red while my family’s plates were blue. I confirmed with my waitress that that was intentional - the red is for allergens!
I also asked if they change gloves and she said yes.
As always, the food is amazing. I got the “Tres Niños” (pulled pork, ribs, and brisket) with mashed potatoes and tomato cucumber salad.

Overall pretty good experience! I ordered ribs, and 4 sides of corn, bbq beans, tomatoes and cucumber salad, and cooked collard greens. I didn’t get sick and food was delicious!
They have a gluten free menu, but it doesn’t say which sides are gluten free, which makes no sense to me. They also brought my food out with two pieces of corn bread on the platter after I told them about my gluten allergy (celiac). It was a mistake by a waitress who wasn’t my own, and they fixed it immediately by switching out my rack of ribs, and getting me all new sides (they let me keep the old ones too).
Overall good experience!

Let me first say I’ve been to Dinosaur BBQ in Rochester many times and NEVER had an issue. So I was excited to go to the original after we moved my daughter out of her dorm. Everything was handled the way I expected and the food was delicious (wings and cucumber tomato salad). Unfortunately on my drive home I got so nauseous and bloated I had to have my husband take over the driving. Thankfully we only live 1.5 hours from Syracuse so that was a good thing. Given all of the recent negative reviews I suspect there’s someone in the kitchen who doesn’t fully understand and appreciate the importance of following the protocol to keep our food safe. So at this point in time I can’t recommend to anyone who experiences serious reactions to gluten to dine at the Syracuse Dinosaur BBQ.

A savory experience in a spacious restaurant! Would recommend.
I am enormously sensitive and had no reaction at all. The staff was knowledgeable about celiacs' needs and helped with the gluten-free menue. As other reviews mentioned to have experienced cross-contamination, I asked them to take extra care and they assured me they would. And everything went just fine.
I had a "Combo Plate" to try out their variety of meats. And it was a great choice. A real barbecue fest!
My favorites were the ribs (so savory and tasty!) and the beans (tasted simply delicious!).
The pulled pork and coleslaw were good. The brisket just slightly tough but still good and tasty.
Staff was a little slow when it came to taking the order and processing the bill but food arrived very promptly (the venue was not highly occupied though).
I'd definitely come back.

I have been here many times and have good experiences, but today I got glutened. They had chicken soup on the specials menu. I asked if it was gluten free, the waitress asked, and was told it was. Unfortunately, the soup came with noodles in it. They don’t have gluten free noodles here so I did not eat it. The manager removed the side soup from the bill and apologized and brought me some mashed potatoes (no gravy) instead. When I went to eat my side of tomato cucumber salad, I found another noodle in that. I told the manager who apologized and brought me applesauce and took my entire meal off the bill. She said that this was an anomaly and she would speak to the cook. Again, I normally have good experiences here, so I do think this is an anomaly, but it could have been worse if I had not been paying attention.

Note , same as others have said. Service waas good. They work on autodrive in the kitchen apparently. Even when you mention gluten free, they still put the cornbread on top of your meat. We were there at opening time 4pm, with no crowd, and my wife who is gluten intolerant, asked for no cornbread, remove it from the order. And she still got cornbread on top of her meat. Server did not pick up on it eitBBQ. . Overall, good bbq. We used to go to the one in Rochester before my wife's diagnosis, so we're not sure if they had gf options.

What an amazing restaurant with so many gluten free options! I went to school at Syracuse and never went because I was vegetarian then so I was excited for my first Dinosaur experience. It did not disappoint! The gluten free menu for Syracuse is right on the website so I could review ahead of time and figure out what I wanted. I got a bowl with smoked mushrooms (the mushrooms were unbelievable) and my fiance was kind enough to also order gluten free by getting a pick three. The great thing is the only difference seemed to be he just did not get cornbread. This was only my second time having barbeque and it was so exciting to try all of the different options and figure out what I actually like (the chicken wings and barbeque chicken were amazing). The server announced gluten allergy when the food was brought to the table. I had an appetizer, my bowl and sampled all three of the bbq meats and the two sides and nothing bothered me so clearly there are measures being taken to prevent cross-contamination. I was also excited to take home some bottles of sauce which I knew would taste great and not bother me!

Unfortunately got sick here. I've been before with no issues, but this time (as many of the other reviews say) my plate came out with cornbread. I asked if it was GF and she said no, said they would "replate" my dinner. I think they may have just removed the bread and sent it back out.
I think this can be safe but you have to be super vigilant.

Pleased to find a 2 page gluten free menu. Our server could not have been more informed about all the kitchen precautions, and freely shared this information as soon as I inquired about a menu. He was very sweet and reassuring throughout the whole experience. Many times I feel like a bother when I eat out, but he really was amazing and one step ahead of my concerns the whole time, and that made a big difference. The plates are even color coded for allergens. Very good experience overall.

I had a great lunch at Dinosaur BBQ yesterday. They have a 2 page GF menu. I chose the bbq chicken with simmered greens and a side salad. It was all so delicious. The server took my celiac seriously and told me the kitchen staff change gloves before making any meals for customers with allergies. My meal was delivered to me on a special red plate. I felt great afterward. My non-celiac husband and daughter also thoroughly enjoyed their meals. This is a fun spot in Buffalo for a safe and delicious meal.
