They have a separate gluten free menu (not on their website) but have noted that items are fried in a common fryer.
I ordered the Mediterranean Chicken prepared gluten free that came with asparagus and rice pilaf. The chef did come out later and let me know that rice pilaf is not actually gluten free because it has orzo pasta in it and he suggested subbing in mashed potatoes that they prepare from scratch.
The options are limited when you eliminate foods from a fryer and sides like the rice, but there are several options. I asked questions and felt safe with what was served to me. I did not get sick.

The worst gluten free dining experience I’ve ever had.
Staff was not knowledgeable about GF menu items. No GF menu or markings.
I ordered with a group which had people who could eat gluten in it, and they sent out the burgers on the wrong buns. If I had celiac it would be a miserable few weeks due to that mistake, but luckily I’m only intolerant.
DO NOT GO HERE!!!

Ridiculous. Waiter told me I could order anything with the bread removed (oh really?). I was clearly on my own for what items were gf. I ordered a steak and the green beans were doused in soy sauce. And yes, I did say I have celiac. They are very uneducated.

No gluten-free menu or markings on menu. When I asked staff, they directed me to items that were clearly not gluten-free and then brushed off further questions. I didn't even order food because it seemed unsafe.

My dad, sister and me are all gluten free, they have a gluten sensitive menu you have to ask for. Our server was very knowledgeable about gluten free. My sister had Mediterranean chicken, I had the turkey sandwich with sweet potato fries, my dad had the BLT with crinkle fries. I am by far the most sensitive to cross contamination and I did not get sick. Granite City exceeded my expectations in every way. The food is delicious!

**Do NOT eat here!** IT IS NOT SAFE!!! It is the same corporate owners. New management took this place down the drain. The previous management understood celiac disease & trained the kitchen staff. You know things are going downhill when the staff quits in large numbers. We went in staff members told me not to order any food. “Nothing is safe for you anymore.” We had a few drinks found out where the staff was moving to & now go there instead. It was such a great place that knew how to make items GF. It’s still busy, but it's near Woodfield Mall & tons of hotels, so don't let the crowds fool you.

Gluten free menu contains gluten items. After I let the waiter know I have an allergy that’s when my original order had to change. Do not order the spinach and artichoke on a gluten free bun, it contains gluten. They have rice pilaf listed as a side which also has gluten. Bonus is they do acknowledge that items are fried in a community fryer. Friendly and understanding staff but the menu is misguided.

New owners - waitress said they were told to tell anyone who is gluten free “you know what you can order. When I asked about anything I was told it was contaminated - rice, not GF, Veggies, not gf… Manager came out and said “we can do a plain chicken breast, that’s it”

No longer offering a GF menu, but thought the salmon with asparagus and rice would be safe. Even added a note that if the rice is not GF to switch it out with mashed potatoes. Got the order home to find orzo in the rice. Either they didn't read the note or the staff aren't trained to know that orzo is pasta. Either way, we won't return anytime soon.

They don't have a kids GF menu -- the food is absolutely delicious though. The nacho plate definitely gives leftovers for the kid. Next time we will just share it. They are very accommodating for GF things

They no longer have a separate Gluten-sensitive menu, as an earlier review states. Nothing was labeled as gluten free on the menu. They can do gluten-free buns for the burgers or gluten-free bread for the flatbreads, but the menu doesn’t mention this either.
I got a burger with a gf bun and it was one of the less impressive burgers I’ve had in awhile.

I went to Granite with family I was visiting in Naperville. After asking the waitress if they had gluten free buns she was very kind and she worked with me to go over which foods were gluten free and which were not. However I got very very very sick after going! It was a cross contamination kind of sick. I would not recommend for anyone with Celiacs disease!!

Waiter was very informative and explained the cooks process for gluten free prep (changing gloves often, cleaning the work space, etc). While not on the menu, they offer gluten free buns and burgers and grilled chicken are safe. I had a steak salad and it was delicious!

I ordered a grilled chicken salad without croutons- the mound of shredded lettuce was wilted. I don’t believe I was gluten contaminated but I did end up not feeling well at all after. Generally crappy food, I would just stay away.

I’ve been to other Granite City locations with no issue and lots of good customer service, unfortunately this location didn’t live up to those expectations. First time I ordered the waitress had no knowledge of gluten free. When asked if something contained gluten she said “I don’t know. Probably” and wouldn’t asked the kitchen or manager. The second time, the waitress said they had so much cross contamination and unclean services that she wouldn’t say anything is safe to eat if gluten free (at least she was somewhat knowledgeable). There are plenty of other places in Fargo, definitely skip this one.

If you have Celiacs do not eat here, if you have a gluten sensitivity DO NOT EAT HERE. They label items with wheat based ingredients as gluten sensitive. They don’t make anything in a separate fryer or environment. Not only is there cross contamination, but they actually label wheat based chips as gluten sensitive!!! Do not eat here if you have an allergy to gluten!!

Scratch kitchen & the chef can alter many dishes to make sure they are GF. The current manager’s wife has celiacs & is extremely knowledgeable. The servers are excellent & will ask any questions you wish to the chef. It’s good to be knowledgeable & order it the safest way possible. My favorite dishes that I have NEVER had a cross contamination with are: buffalo shrimp w/o breading, mussels w/o marinara sauce extra garlic, roasted salmon w/ mashed potatoes & asparagus or green beans, impossible burger (sometimes run out of GF buns so I just eat it w/ mashed potatoes, salmon salad, & they’ve started brewing their own hard seltzers—YUM.
I find that it’s a nice variety, but I’m a pescatarian. I can’t recommend brunch, but most celiac patients are taught to avoid buffets.
Great bartenders! It has great vibe & EVERYONE that works their is so sweet. The bar area is like Cheers w/ lots of regulars. They have a 4 seasons room, patio, during COVID they’ve had big tents outside & entertainment on Friday nights in the tent.

GF bun is pretty good. A little on the expensive side. They label the fries as gluten free, but they place them in the same fryer as the food containing gluten.
The server had no idea what was gluten free and what was unsafe. She went back to the kitchen at least four times. Their menu was not gluten free, just gluten sensitive, which is a joke because their gluten sensitive Idaho Natchos are cooked in a shared fryer. I was told they have several gluten free dressings and then came back to say only oil and vinegar. I do not recommend this restaurant.
No
Waitress was really knowledgeable about GF options. I had the GF flatbread. It was really tough, but good none the less. Did not get sick from them!
Cross contamination with the breakfast buffet. The buffet is the only thing available before 11am. If you are gluten intolerant, do not eat here before 11am unless you are going to pay $12.99 for some fruit and water. I dont know how the lunch/dinner experience is so I will give the benefit of the doubt.
Items on menu leading people to believe they may be safe for gluten free diets. However, there is no dedicated fryer...these items are not safe. No education on cross contamination.
Great food - I had salmon and it was very good
New menu contains a good amount of options labeled GS. Dedicated fryer. Our server didn’t know anything about celiac at the beginning of our dinner. I explained it to him and he made a strong effort to make sure I would be ok, he double checked every question I had. Didn’t get sick. Food itself was just ok though.
Yes
They use a shared fryer for almost all their GS items. That eliminates most of the options for anyone celiac. If you try it here, be very specific with your allergy. And don't eat anything crispy or fried. :-(
Menu is clearly marked “gs” for gluten sensitivity. Quite a few items to chose from. Our son ordered a kids burger with fries, and we asked for no seasoning on them. There is NO dedicated gluten free fryer. Food was yummy!
I had a great experience here tonight, my husband and I shared the chips and dip (with salsa) I had the Chicken Tinga Tacos, they were SO good! Since menu items are noted as Gluten Sensitive, I suppose it is dine at your own risk, but I had no reaction, and I am pretty sensitive.
A good gluten free menu. I had the chicken tacos and they were great. Didn’t get sick.
Yes
Not much gluten free and I think I was glutenated
Lack of communication between the server and the kitchen cost me two months of aggravation and pain. Servers need to be better informed of what Can happen when they screw up. I’ll never go back there again.
No
Server acknowledged the chance of CC. they have a new larger menu, but fewer gluten sensitive items. Not even the salads. Took a chance on a naked burger and green beans. So far, ok, but Probly won’t go back.
There is no ingredient list for brunch. No menu for brunch so nothing at all is labeled gluten free. Brunch is not safe at all. The dinner menu has like three things that are labeled gluten sensitive, nothing is gluten free. I would not recommend this to anyone who truly has an allergy.
Definitely not celiac friendly.
No
This location does not pay attention or listen to gluten free needs. I’ve had two bad experiences and will never return. The first time I ordered a GF flatbread as carry out. The hostess quickly realized it was not GF and had them remake it. So I forgave that. I tried Granite City again today, and as I type this I am glutened. I ordered another GF flatbread, had my celiac chat with the waitress. My food arrives and it looked like whole wheat crust, but the waitress assured me it was GF. Well within 15 mins I was nauseous and in a full-blown migraine. They are either completely ignorant or just don’t care, I believe it’s the latter.
