2023 review! We just came and had an excellent experience. They have a separate gluten free menu and our waiter checked with the chef multiple times to make sure we had a safe meal we ordered a few spicy rolls and a Philly roll but the winner was the Tropical roll!! My god it was so good! Overall a great meal and no sickness as long as you advocate for yourself they were great!

Got takeout from here. Called to see if the nigiri was gf because it didn’t seem to be marked as such on the menu. The person who answered the phone did not seem confident in their answer so I skipped the nigiri. I chose three things marked gf from the menu & when doing online ordering, it gave me an option to put food allergy for gluten. While I know celiac is not an allergy, I know many places better understand if you say gluten allergy. I skipped their soy sauce/wasabi and used liquid aminos at home. Did not get sick

I felt like sushi would be a safe option, but another example of where its best to speak to a manager at the restaurant before eating. The manager I spoke with was very familiar with Celiac disease as he has a family member with the same diagnosis. He was very helpful, but he, unfortunately, advised us that they do not safely avoid cross-contamination and that he would not let his family member with Celiac eat at Sushi Zushi.

Sushi Zushi has a fantastic GF menu! I’ve ordered delivery many times and never had an issue. The online ordering system notes what is GF on the menu.

The staff was very attentive and patient while listening to my concerns and took time to figure out which would be the most safe options for me. There was some education required on my end to help them understand what was and was not gluten. But they were open to hearing and accommodating.

Because the summer noodles are cold and therefore not cooked in a wok, I decided to try those and the coconut noodle soup. They said the protein options were marinated in a sauce that is NOT gluten free so I skipped those. I felt well after both dishes. I decided not to try the sake rita because staff was not sure if it was gluten free or not.

Incredibly limited selection, wait staff seemed hassled by the request for a gluten-free menu (online has no indicators) and gluten-free tamari (tried to insist low-sodium was the same thing!) The sushi was also grocery store quality and the spicy tuna was all mayo, no spice.

While this place does not have a separate gluten free preparation area, they will change their gloves, utensils and clean their prep space if you tell them your celiac and ask for it. They have extensive gluten free options. Their wasabi IS gluten free, the manager brought me the bag of powder they use and corn starch is used. Nothing else in it of concern. I’m fairly sensitive and I had no problem here, I trusted their gluten free menu and had a variety of options to choose from.

Looked so promising: gluten free menu, waitress told the chef about the allergy and careful note taking. BUT came with the roe which the menu says wasn’t gluten free: the waitress said she double checked with the chef but my husband had symptoms after. Definitely cross contamination at minimum.

Service was great. They were out of gluten free soy sauce and the sushi I ordered had spice from the cutting board or knife so they remade mine which was nice. I suspect cross contamination due to them using the same equipment but everyone else at the table enjoyed their food.

For the most part our experience was great. I told them I had celiac but my plate came out with wasabi on it. I asked if the wasbi was gluten free and I was informed it was not. They did have gluten free soy sauce and the menu did have labels for GF.

Gluten free menu and the staff was very knowledgeable. They were also open to asking questions of me if unsure. GF soy sauce and sushi rice which was amazing. Takes a little longer for them to prep but it’s worth it!

Prior to my gluten free life I was a huge Asian food and sushi person. In general the sushi didnt taste the best. It was sushi but didnt have much taste. The server was made aware of my gluten issues and I ordered off the gluten free menu. The rice from 2 pieces of sashimi tasted different than the rest, sweeter. I leaned over to my husband and told him im pretty sure im going to get sick. And i did. Nice restaurant and nice staff but not safe enough for me to risk it again

Stopped here while visiting Austin. I had not had a good experience with sushi since being diagnosed. I've never gotten sick anywhere, but that's mainly because I always order boring rolls. This place was a refreshing change. The menu is clearly marked with gluten free options. I would not say it was a huge amount, but enough to get some good variety and have a good meal. This was a good walk down memory lane for me to remind me why sushi is such a magical food, and not just boring rolls with no flavor. I was a little confused when I ordered an appetizer (yakitori I think?) that was marked gluten free on the menu, but was then told that the sauce it came with was not gluten free, so in the end it was just skewered pieces of unseasoned grilled chicken with sauce on the side for my wife to dip in. Not really gluten free is it? Oh well, just get another sushi roll instead.

As other reviewer's mentioned, the menu is clearly marked for GF. But you may have to flip through the menu to know the ingredients. Lots of options, tasted very delicious. I'd recommend it, and if I'm back in San Antonio, I'll be there again. Good atmosphere too, pretty quiet. They have a small bar area with a TV in case you want that

He even made a few recommendations and I was very pleased with everything. I am very sensitive and get sick easily, but this restaurant kept me safe.

If your craving sushi and have celiac disease like I do, feel free to go here. Service was not as good as it could be. But the waiter was nice and listened to my concerns. The menu does suck, it lists the sushi roll items in the back that are gluten free but doesn't list the ingredients. So you have to flip through the 7 page menu find the item to see what's in it and if that's what you want. They did prepare my meal separately to avoid cross contamination and also brought me GF soy sauce. I get sick easily and I feel fine. I had 3 sushi rolls! All were good. It does take some time to get your food but it's sushi, and they have to prepare it special to suit our GF needs so I didn't mind being patient.
