They have a gluten-free menu with lots of options. For salad dressing the menu states oil and vinegar, but online if you look at their menu and click on the allergen information for ranch dressing it’s gluten-free. I ended up ordering the pork chops with a sweet potato and salad with ranch dressing and did fine. I did tell them I was celiac and the manager came over and told me that they would change their gloves and they would take care of me and I would be safe. On the menu it says the peppercorn sauce for the pork chop is not gluten-free so to leave it off. When they brought me my food the peppercorn sauce was on the side and it spilled onto my meal so they had to remake it. Because it took so long to get my second meal, I did not have to pay for my meal at all. I would definitely come back to eat here again as the food was very good and they attempted to make it right, which they did.
Amazing experience!! As soon as I told my server about my wheat allergy, she excused herself to go get the allergy menu. The ‘allergy menu’ was literally one of the managers with a handheld that had their menu with the option to modify it to. your. allergies!!!!!!! It brings up a list of only what you can eat, specified to your allergy(ies) they were very careful, respectful and kind about it. I had the filet, mashed potatoes and a salad. It was all amazing!! Fresh shredded cheese and boiled eggs, tomatoes, and purple cabbage on the super crisp with a yummy, house made ranch on a fresh bed of lettuce, the homestyle mashed potatoes had amazing flavor but the filet?!?! The filet was not only perfectly cooked and seasoned, it was the most tender steak I’ve ever had. It was so thick I had to cut it both with and against the grain and it was like cutting butter. Not a bit of a reaction. It’s a bit pricey but worth it. Only downer was there’s no GF desserts.
They did not have an in person allergen menu and instead at first tried to point out which appetizers would be gluten free. This felt unsafe and very guesswork-y to me. They eventually led me to their website that has a way to filter out food with allergens. This was a weird way to determine what was gluten free and gave me no idea of protocols or cross contamination. I had a sirloin, salad (no cruotons), and baked sweet potato and did not get glutened, but I was still uncomfortable with the process.
I personally have never had any issues with Texas Roadhouse up until this point! I’ve eaten there multiple times since my celiac diagnosis before Thanksgiving and I’ve never had any issues issue! About a week ago I ate at Texas Roadhouse with some friends! I ordered the same thing I always do off their gluten friendly menu and I ended up getting sick the next day! When I ordered I let the waitress know that I was gluten free and she advised me the cook will take it seriously (she said they’d switch gloves, get a new piece of chicken from the fridge and they’d clean the grill before cooking my food)! I’m not sure which part the cook didn’t do, but I ended up getting sick the next day! I personally am going to be very cautious the next time I eat here!
Went to get some steak, ribs, and salad. The ribs and steak came out great . The salad ended up having a crouton in it and thankfully my boyfriend saw it before I took a bite of anything. I told the manager and she went and brought a new one out that she claimed to have made herself. Don’t know if I’ll be back to this location as she didn’t really apologize or understand the importance of me telling her I needed no croutons and that I had a gluten allergy.
I got glutened here last night. Their steak marinade is not gluten free.
Little disappointed because their seasoning they use has gluten and they use it for everything. So you can only have salad with oil and vinegar. Very limited menu. I got a steak which wasn’t the greatest tasted like it was microwaved and for my sides I got baked potatoes and corn. Just don’t go in with high expectations.
The wait staff was quite informed about kitchen preparation. The options are minimal compared to the full menu but there are plenty of options. There are zero salad dressings that are gluten free. My specific location has a make shift GF menu. Fries are not prepared in a separate fryer. Be very mindful of cross contamination. Please note - not all steaks are GF because of the marinade.
Had a separate gluten free menu. Server was nice, and happy to tell the kitchen about making sure everything was gluten free. I ordered a 6oz steak with mashed potatoes and veggies, steak was cooked to a proper medium, potatoes and veggies were good. I did not have any issues with feeling sick, I felt fine. Overall, a pretty good meal and I would go back.
We all know the risks of eating at a chain. I had a strip steak with green beans and baked potato.
Great staff! Great Regulars at the bar made my solo night after work such a great time!
I did not react, but didn’t have any sauces, etc
I wish they would put in just a little more effort to make it more inclusive.
Great experience. Waitress was prepared with a gluten-free menu immediately. Asked if we did/didn't want bread for the table (my hubby has zero issues, and thankfully I'm not bothered by wheat he eats) I had the steak salad, was fantastic. Only 4 stars as the menu isn't huge, seasoning options are small, but my food was great and I was taken seriously.
Texas Roadhouse has a good number of GF entrees and sides. And a gluten free menu you can find on their website. Personally the atmosphere was a little loud with the music-made conversation difficult. But delicious food and good service. The waitress marked on the order that I was GF
Overall a great experience, staff was friendly and was able to identify gluten free options. Waiter was well aware of what options they had available and let us know of any cross contamination that could occur in the kitchen. We ordered the T-bone stake and loaded baked potato, non had any gluten and zero allergic reactions afterwards. Would recommend but would inform waiter of any server allergies so they can further assist you.
Sincerely David
I never used to come here because they didn't offer much. Rechecked their allergy menu online and have made updates. U can now order the steaks and salmon with the seasoning on it. I had the ny strip, loaded baked potato, and buttered corn. All delicious. You can order the salad but no croutons and only oil and vinegar for the dressing
I've had good experiences here. That are able to advise on what's gluten free and I've never gotten sick eating here. I have avoided items with a high risk of contamination like salads that might normally have croutons, however - I've just stuck with steak and vegetables. I go here often when I'm visiting family in the area and it's been a reliable choice .
SKIP THIS LOCATION. Not celiac safe. I stopped eating here a year ago because they continued to cross contact my food. The food safety overall in this restaurant is horrible. I have caught a worker using the same rag from wiping down trays and cabinets using it on the plates to clean the edges before going out. They never have the sanitary buckets per NC code. I have spoken with the own and management several times about food safety. I have had croutons picked out of my salad after I specifically explained it had to be remade. Other locations may be safe but this one is not.
Upon arrival I asked the waiter if they had a gluten free menu. He informed me that they had a gluten-friendly menu. I will post a picture of it if I can figure out how. There were quite a few options but for anyone super sensitive to cross contamination I would be cautious. I had a grilled chicken breast, mashed potatoes and corn. The food was good and I did not have any issues with it.
Server knowledgeable and respectful yet very limited menu items available.
All meats available without seasoning or sauces.
Order flagged for my steak to be cooked on clean grill separated from others.
Simply chose steak salad with oil/vinegar dressing
(red wine oil vinegar)
Turned out to be very fresh and delicious!
You can scan their QR code to pull up the menu, mark your allergies, and it will tell you what foods they offer that do not have those allergens in them. I had the bbq ribs, which were delicious.
They have no allergen menu but they have a gluten-free menu. If you want a burger there are no bun options just no bun. Decent amount of sides and entree options. I got the herb crusted chicken with a baked potato and applesauce. Server was unfamiliar with cross-contamination but I got food anyway. No reaction at all and out of most restaurants it has a good amount of options
I went there and got a sweet tea with the grilled barbecue chicken and the loaded sweet potato. I’m not sure if the gluten-free suggestion menu is in the restaurant if you ask for it, but it is online. It will tell you scenes like for example you can get a burger if you take the bun off and it has any different things on it that you could get.
They have a separate gluten free menu (you can ask for it or find it online). I had some questions about the loaded sweet potato and the manager came over and told me they make the sauce for it fresh and the 4 ingredients they use in it. It was very good, I did not get sick <3 they said they wash their hands, change their gloves, and prepare it away from all gluten items.
I got a ribeye, green beans, and the loaded sweet potato. I do not think their steak sauce is gluten free so the steak was a little plain, I'll bring some seasoning next time lol

We ate here in May 2024. Kitchen manager came out to talk to us about a side dish that was delayed in coming out because they wanted to make sure there was no cross-contamination! Four stars for effort! As much as I prefer to dine in independently-owned restaurants, chains seem to manage gluten allergies best…not a big fan of overly stimulating atmospheres OR country music, but we will eat here again because we had that experience.
So the positive is we had an amazing server who noted I had gluten issues. She was very friendly and kind. The food-why is this place so popular?? The food was not good. My food came out with bread on it and the shrimp laying on top of the bread. We sent it back but it came back within minutes so I’m pretty sure it wasn’t redone just put in a bowl. Then they forgot to bring my vegetables. The steak I ordered was supposed to be medium rare. It was medium. The veggies that finally came out were way overcooked. The sweet potato was pure mush. Even the iced tea was flat. Definitely not feeling great after eating here. First and last time here, that is a for sure.
There is a gluten free menu available and the waitress was very kind with offering it and understanding my need for gluten free. However I did get exposure to gluten and I would presume it was from the kitchen due to failure of changing gloves etc. I will not be back just because the rash I received from my celiacs was not fun!
When I first sat down and asked for the gluten free menu, our waiter looked at me confused. So I mentioned my wheat and almond allergy. I think he wasn’t confused, rather as soon as I said allergy he was on it. I have had two managers come to check with me. They have cooked my food separately and been so transparent about all the food. I highly recommend this establishment based on my experience. Example of how good, my kids ordered the cheese fries and I can’t eat them because they aren’t on the gluten free menu. They even cooked us unseasoned fries without me even asking!!!!
The server seemed to understand what gluten free meant and warned me not to eat the potato skins (I wasn’t going to) due to frying. He marked my table’s order as gluten free, and my food (grilled chicken, sweet potato, and applesauce) arrived on a separate tray. I was told my chicken was cooked separately from other orders.
First time trying Texas Roadhouse since my diagnosis, so we'll see how it goes.
So far, while the hostess who greeted us didn't know about it, our waitress brought me a menu card with their "gluten-friendly suggestions" (see photo). As with most places they can't guarantee fully gluten free, but they do have an awareness.
Was very nervous to eat here since right as you sit down they give you a basket of bread. I am also sad a lot of places are no longer selling Trulys and now have angry orchard as the only gf option. Anyways I ordered a side house salad no croutons of course and a baked potato with a steak. I talked to our waiter and he told me I would be ok since they do their best in not cross contacting foods. Also he made sure he let them know I have a gluten allergy. That’s what I tell them when I go out because no one knows what celiac is.thankfully I didn’t get sick. If you go here just remember to speak up for yourself and let them know your concerns and what not.
Went here because they had a gf menu online and we were in a celebratory mood, which calls for steak in my book. The waiter brought me a paper copy of their gf menu which was very helpful. I didn’t have too many questions so can’t speak to staff knowledge. Got a filet, sweet potato (with butter, cinnamon and sugar), steamed veggies and a Cabernet. Very slight indigestion which I attribute to the 9oz pour of wine; it never morphed into the more vicious GI symptoms which tell me I’ve eaten gluten so I feel I was safe and this was a good choice. Decent number of options clearly indicated on their menu, this is winning as far as I’m concerned. Hubby enjoyed all the rolls and his non-gf fried fish.
We ate here without issue. Ask the server for the gf options and they carry a card round with them with some gf meal options. Options are limited (no starters) so we had a steak and baked potatoes. It was really good. The server understood it was an allergy. As always they can never guarantee as gluten in the kitchen but my daughter and I who are super sensitive had no cross contamination issues. No separate gf fryer.
I ordered off the gluten-free menu and informed the waiter of my allergy. They brought my food with bread directly in the center. Wheb I told the waiter, he apologized and brought it back, because it took a minute, I assumed he remade it because I had said that I was sensitive to cross contamination but no, they just took the bread off and brought it back ten minutes later. Of course I got sick right then and there and spent about an hour in the restroom. I would not at all recommend this restaurant for anyone sensitive to any amount of cross contamination.
Was given a gluten sensitive menu but wasn't given any indication that kitchen staff would be notified of an allergy issue. Ordered 8 oz steak with a side of corn and green beans, all of which were included on their gluten sensitive menu and also on their website when you select the filtered version for any allergy (my case wheat).
I have to say I did have some reservations when I seen how busy it was and that they also make their own buns/bread, but thought I would still like to try. The food was great but I did get 'glutened'.
This place is so busy that I feel it would be nearly impossible to do much to prevent cross contamination. Also because it's so busy they really don't have to cater to customers with allergies. My advice is to avoid this place if you have any food allergy.
My husband likes to eat here often. They have a limited gluten-free menu available, but a few more options with substitutions on their website. Our server was very nice and friendly and made sure to let the cook know of my allergy. They let me know about possible cross-contamination, but I don’t have many issues with that so I told him it was OK. You’re pretty safe getting a steak, baked potato, and a vegetable.
This location does offer a gluten free menu. Our server was very friendly and accommodating. She didn't know a lot about gluten itself, but understood quickly when we explained. My daughter ordered grilled salmon, mashed potatoes and applesauce. It was all really delicious and she didn't have any issues after eating here.
This place was very accommodating to my allergy. They had a good variety of options if you look up the Texas Roadhouse gluten free options online. They will put your allergy on the ticket and notify the kitchen. I have never had issues eating here. I always get the herb crusted chicken with either a sweet potato or baked potato with vegetables or green beans.
Ordered a burger with no bun. Asked at the to go window to make sure there was no bun, they said there was bo bun. When we got home we noticed 1/2 the bun on the burger had been ripped off. When we called about it, they did not take any responsibility. Would not recommend take out if they are going to lie about it.
My waiter has a sister with celiac and was incredibly cautious. They introduced a gluten free menu a few years ago that you can ask your waiter for. I get the steak with a sweet potato and ask for no seasoning on the steak. Our waiter was concerned about MSG in the seasoning which I didn’t think was a problem but I was cautious and went without. I’ve ordered it like that here multiple times and other locations and haven’t had any issues.
GF menu available upon request Lots of options and the service staff was very accommodating and friendly
I called ahead to see if they could accommodate celiac and they said yes but asked for 1 hour notice to prepare a safe food prep space. I ordered the filet medallions and a baked potato. The food was good and I didn't get sick. The server took care and was aware of my celiac needs. I would recommend them if in Hobbs, NM and you call ahead.
They do have a gluten-free menu kind of, I did tell the server that I have a good allergy. Later that night I've never had this much pain in my stomach after eating at a place. I asked them to change their gloves before touching my food and I don't think they did. I would not recommend this location.
This was probably the best GF meal I’ve ever had at a restaurant! I asked for GF menu, our waitress had one with her. I ordered the Steak Kabob with no rice. Mashed potatoes with no gravy and a side salad with oil and vinegar no croutons. They brought out the salad with a small container of oil and another small container of red wine vinegar so I could add as much or as little as I wanted. I really appreciate that! Then the Kabobs and mashed potatoes came out… absolutely fabulous! I was so shocked. Will be adding Texas Roadhouse to my favorites list ❤
Texas Roadhouse is usually a good chain for gluten free. This was not my vest experience with them. I ordered my food with allergy prep. When my steak come out, it had a stray piece of a not-gluten-free topping mixed in, which was highly concerning. They remade my steak and the manager brought it out. Granted, it was extremely busy and I was with a large party. In the end, I did not get sick. This is probably a decent stop for GF, especially considering there didn't seem to be much else in the area. This was an obligatory dinner stop on a road trip.
Very few options that would be safe. Their seasoning is not gluten free and they put it on EVERYTHING! My Celiac daughter wanted corn, couldn’t have it….baked potato? Nope, they cover the outside with bacon grease and seasoning. After a lot of discussion we ended up with a steak with no seasoning and a side of broccoli.
Yes, this is a chain, and has been safe go-to if available during our roadtrips. This location is near our home-base. They do have GF options on their website. My husband likes it there bc there are more GF options to choose from for sides. So far no reactions (knock on wood). Aside from most of the steak options, the ribs (bbq sauce or rub) have been alright for him.
Perks for me: the warm rolls with cinnamon butter, not to rub it in :)
Went to this Texas Roadhouse for a birthday dinner. They have a gluten friendly menu. I stressed to the waiter that I needed to eat gluten free. I had a NY Strip Steak with baked potato and a house salad. I ordered the house salad without croutons. The waiter seemed familiar with gluten friendly options but the kitchen gave me a salad with croutons anyway. Steak was cooked to order and was good.
Their steak, herb crusted chicken, broccoli, sweet potato & salad are all gluten free (let them know you have a gluten allergy).
There are not many options in the area that are super safe for someone with Celiacs (that we could find). We called ahead and asked some questions and decided to try it. You can look on their website and select your allergies to see what you can eat. My son had the potato skins with cheddar cheese and bacon bits as a shared appetizer and loved them. He had a bun less burger and substituted the unsafe fries for loaded mashed potatoes. We were told his burger was made in a separate corner away from breaded items and they used fresh gloves to handle his food. He has celiacs and didn’t get a bellyache. He also was excited to have some of the peanuts they bring to the table. Happy with our experience but it was definitely a risk.
Went here for my birthday and had a good experience with the waitress and staff. Super nice and she even brought out a Gluten Friendly menu. The menu was helpful in stating what items can be substituted out when ordering and what to stay away from in their menu. I’m not sure if they have this menu posted online, but I took a picture to share. I would recommend staying away from any of their appetizers if you’re super sensitive as they don’t have a dedicated fryer for fries or other non battered items.
The waitress didn’t seem confident on gluten info and didn’t know that butter was dairy when I mentioned my dairy allergy as well. Obviously there’s cross contact I didn’t get sick but I had the online allergen info pulled up while ordering because the waitress was clueless and didn’t seem willing to find someone who knew about the ingredients
