Great food and service. Great atmosphere. Gluten free menu
My friends and I dined at Mastro’s Restaurant on Christmas Eve. It was an elegant, lavish dinner—the restaurant is beautiful, and the service is exceptional. Mastro’s has a separate menu with items considered safe for those avoiding gluten. For the table, asparagus, scalloped potatoes, and mushrooms were ordered; I will flag that, when the potatoes were delivered, we were told these were NOT gluten-free (making me question the accuracy of the menu). So, I avoided the sides and stuck with my entrée, the roast chicken. It was delicious; I felt very safe during the meal, and I did not get sick afterward. For dessert, there were several options; I played it safe and enjoyed two scoops of vanilla ice cream. Overall, I had an enjoyable experience at Mastro’s. While expensive, it was a special night at which I was not worried about cross-contamination or accidental gluten exposure.
So I at at ocean club one in Aria shoppes. I was here for a fancy work event with my husband and the people who hosted it paid for seafood towers that were BOMB! Because this wasn’t a regular meal I’m unsure how that changed their care but I was impressed. They understood about celiac and cross contact, they use flour rub on most the meats so omitted on mine. Mine even looked different to other fillets (less darkened) so I could tell it was cooked right. They delivered saying “gluten allergy ___”. Everything was delicious.
Got incredibly bad gluten poisoning here. Delicious food but not sure which dish I had caused the problem. One big issue I think contributes is how ridiculously loud they keep the music, I could barely hear my husband, so I wouldn’t be surprised if some communication issue led to me getting glutened
You’re really paying for the location here, having a table on the front by the water is awesome. They have live music often, and it’s a great vibe. Lots to eat gluten free! Excellent seafood, wine and steaks. A little overpriced tho and only worth it if you sit by the water.
I have Celiac. My wife doesn’t. They are supposed to make the steak without the rub for it to be gluten free. You really can’t tell if the rub is on the steak, so normally you have to take their word for it. Luckily for me, my wife likes her steak well done, so I noticed mine looked very cooked before even cutting into it. The waiter dismissed my concern, saying the runners never make mistakes. I then cut into the steak and it was beyond well done. I pointed it out only to find out that they did indeed switch our steaks. The manager came over and I told them, beyond how the steak was cooked, that I have a serious allergy to gluten and they need to be more careful. The manager offered me a salad while I waited for the steak… the salad came with croutons on it!! Needless to say, we left. It’s unacceptable by any restaurant, but especially one at this price point.
Nice little gluten menu and the staff is extremely accommodating. I normally stick to salads and a side of steak/fish and they ensure me they don’t season it with gluten stuff. The vibe is fun inside is fun as well especially on the weekends when they have live entertainment
Beautiful restaurant, very nice waiter, lovely experience. I thought I was safe ordering a blackened salmon, garlic mashed potatoes, and asparagus. I was assured by the waiter that it would be safe. It was definitely not. I was sick within the hour. I don't know if it was a cross contamination issue or if there was overt gluten in the seasoning, but suffice it to say, the waiter and kitchen staff were unprepared for a gluten-free customer.
I have eaten at other Mastro’s locations before, so I had some expectations as to what to expect, and this Mastro’s did not disappoint! While I still wish they had gf bread that they could bring out with the other bread basket, I had a delicious meal— fish, a baked potato, and crème brûlée! They have a separate gluten free menu and are happy to talk to you about preparation. Excellent!
Ask for Fifi! She was very knowledgeable about our dietary needs and her serving skills were on point! The gluten free menu has so many amazing choices for appetizers, seafood, steak, and the sides were to die for!!! They even have a selection of deserts!!! This is the perfect restaurant for a well rounded gluten free meal. We will definitely be back and will ask for Fifi!
No gf menu but they will make sure you get a good meal. I had pan seared sea bass, lobster mashed potatoes, truffles mushrooms & snap peas. Very expensive but a great place for a special occasion. They do not have gf bread which is def disappointing considering what an upscale place it is.
Chef Adrian and everyone at Mastro's Steakhouse in Thousand Oaks were amazing! They have a GF menu that comes leather bound just like a regular menu. The chef reviewed everything I wanted to order with me at the table and prepared a special GF rub since their house rub has gluten. Came and checked on me at end of meal, truly showed so much care and interest in meeting my needs. Everything was delicious and no reaction!
Biggest GF menu of any restaurant that I have been to. The service was outstanding. A whole basket of GF breads, different types. The warm butter cake was to die for.
large, delicious gluten-free menu. The appetizers, steaks, and sides were all delicious.
I ate here last month, I had steak and mushrooms and 20 minutes later I was up in their bathroom throwing up and crying of stomach pains. I was "glutenized". Our waiter did not seem to care and we have never been there again. I don't recommend this restaurant . If you are looking for a great steak house, my favorite place is Morton's steakhouse and Ruth's christ steakhouse.
