The sandwiches are a huge rip off. $19 for two slices of BFree style bread with a few pieces of steak. My meal was the size of one McDonald’s hamburger! I know portion sizes go down with GF bread, but $19?! It didn’t include sides, either. Steak was inedible.

This is exactly the kind of place i was looking for. Quick and Very tasty! The Turkey salad sandwich was amazing with cranberries. I Was impressed by how hard the kids worked at lunch time. It ran like a well oiled machine! I highly Recommend.

They have gluten free bread for the sandwiches. I asked the lady at the counter if they can avoid cross-contamination and she said they can use a separate cutting board and knife. I observed the person making the sandwich change gloves as well. She said they have a worker with celiac who eats the food. I felt comfortable and the pastrami sandwich was great. You order at a computer and there's no place to put a note in, so I would let them know if you have celiac! I would feel comfortable coming back.

I got the turkey bacon avocado sandwich. The taste was great and the gluten free bread doesn't crumble. Lots of GF options.

I mentioned I have celiac and asked about cross contact. The person helping me immediately let me know that they take it off the prep line and have one person prepare the whole order using clean cutting board, gloves, knives and using new ingredient bins that haven’t been on the line. I asked about the toaster and she said it’s a conveyor belt toaster and they use foil to protect sandwiches. They seemed well informed and very happy to help. Like all fast food basically the allergy precautions take a bit more time. The food is delish!!

Had a Turkey sandwich on g free bread and a chickpea sandwich on g free bread and both were excellent. They advised that all bread is toasted together, so left my bread untoasted to reduce cross contamination risk. Recommend!

very tasty. when i said i had celiac they automatically jumped into explain their whole cross contamination prevention system (they get fresh ingredients, change gloves, etc). for their sandwiches, they don’t have a separate toaster but they said that they line it with tinfoil (i think it was a toaster oven) for celiac. i wasn’t sure how safe that was, so i got a bowl

Really good selection of GF options, all the sandwiches can be made with GF bread and they have several bowls that are GF. There is a chance of cross contamination, but I felt completely fine after eating here. They have plenty of healthy and vegetarian options and I would definitely go again because our food was very tasty!

I was looking for a place to eat to minimize cross contamination and they delivered on that! I asked an employee if they were able to minimize cross contamination and she was very kind and told me that they have separate prep items for gluten free. She changed her gloves to prepare my salad and I feel very confident about the safety of the food. Plus it's delicious!

Food is pretty tasty. However, their toasters, etc are cross contaminated. Bowls are your best bet. There doesn’t really seem to be separate kitchen space or separate storage of ingredients for celiac guests. My celiac kid and I have gradually just stopped eating here because we get slightly (to really) sick. If you’re just sensitive to gluten, (not celiac) it’s probably fine.

Hit and miss for celiacs. It’s shared equipment, so your gluten free bread goes through the same toaster as everything else. Sometimes it’s fine, sometimes you get a little wheat in your sandwich. If you’re sensitive to cross-contamination I can’t recommend. Salads and bowls are probably a safer bet.

There are plenty of options for gluten free on the menu. Any sandwich can be made with gluten free bread and all bowls are gluten free. However, the menu does state that cross-contamination may occur, so be sure to ask questions when ordering.

Homegrown offers GF bread and buns on all of their sandwiches (Udi's, IIRC) and a great line up of GF and nominally GF offerings. However, I deducted 2 stars, because why go to the trouble of having extensive GF offerings if you're not going to step up and provide cross-contamination protection for people with celiac? (Their disclaimer: "all gluten-free items are made on shared equipment" - IOW, "no gluten ingredients, but we're not making any promises.")

I experienced a total breakdown in allergen handling protocol that lead to me experiencing a moderate gluten exposure.

The cashier didn’t know what Celiac disease was (very surprising for how this establishment markets itself), then got nervous and flustered when I asked to speak to the manager. Against my better judgment, I backed off in order to calm them down. Hopefully this was an isolated incident, seeing as this location has very good GF reviews.

I am celiac and eat here all the time and never get sick. They do mention that some items may be subject to cross contamination, however.

This is a Seattle favorite. Sure it’s a little pricey if you compare to like... subway... but you’re in an expensive city getting quality fresh food so it’s really not overpriced considering.

We always enjoy our food and the service has always been top notch for us. Even one meal mess up that we took to go, they immediately refunded us when we contacted them.

Ordered a sandwich - was the only customer there, so I watched the preparation closely. They used the same knife to spread stuff on the bread that they used for gluten-containing bread. The knife they used to cut the sandwich was coated in crumbs as well. Gave the sandwich to a coworker.

I'm a celiac and eat here frequently. Just be sure to tell them it's an allergy and they have a separate gluten free preparation area. Sandwiches do share the toasting over so be aware of that if you're crazy sensitive, order the sandwich cold or get a salad.

My gluten free lunch go to place. The gluten free bread is delicious for sandwiches, and the salads are excellent. They even sell gluten free brownies- the very best I've tasted.

great restaurant! very good gluten free option. they do a good job of avoiding cross contamination (their menu does say there is a risk of it, simply because it's made near regular bread). I haven't had any major issues with cross contamination (possibly a little bit because I'm very sensitive to it), so I would rate this restaurant very well. their GF bread is also soy free (including soybean oil and soy lecithin). if you have any questions just call up their corporate office for the ingredient list. would highly recommend this place if you have gluten allergies (and soy and dairy allergies too!)

Great gluten free food. Homemade chunky tomato soup served piping hot, tasty brie & turkey sandwich and a gf brownie for dessert. Hoping one day they'll consider expanding to my area of NorCal.

I am just starting to go to restaurants again after be diagnosed with Celiac. I am very fearful of cross contamination. I chose Homegrown off this app for a place to take my mom to lunch. I had a few questions and explained in need a gluten free meal. They didn't seem like they had knowledge of how to accommodate. What was worse, after explaining I needed gluten free, the cook did not change gloves when she went to make my salad. My mom saw this and asked if she was going to change gloves. After the cook gave an annoyed look at her, she did change her gloves. The food was good, but after spending $42 for 2 for lunch, I expected a little more care in my food prep.

The gluten free sandwich I had was wonderful. My gluten eating boyfriend tried a piece of it and even said it was good. Annnnd they make the gluten free stuff in a seperate area so this celiac didn't get sick! There is a risk of cross contamination but they do a good job of trying to prevent it.

I explained I am severely sensitive to gluten (almost too emphatically) but it worked. Didn't get sick. The chicken cranberry (?) sandwich for about $12.50 is huge and delicious. Had three meals out of the full size sandwich (sold in half and whole sizes). The staff is very nice and accommodating. Definitely will eat there again.

Terrific place. It was so good, we ate their 2x. Both times it was delicious and staff very helpful. (I am not just GF but also allergic/sensitive to dairy, yeast, egg, mushrooms, chocolate, shell fish and most nuts.) Awesome experience!
