I was told there were several safe GF options, including nachos and tacos, so I chose nachos. I then watched as the worker grabbed toppings with her gloved hands. When I asked her if that how she always does it, I was told “ YOU WATCHED ME CHANGE MY GLOVES!!”
I reassured her that it wasn’t her hygiene that was my concern, and I know she had fresh gloves, so I asked again if she normally does that, after handling burritos, and she said she does. I told her that’s cross contamination, and I can’t eat there. She got quite upset with me, even saying “lots of people with ‘that disease’ eat here!” While that may be true, that cross contamination will make me sick. Her lack of understanding also made me extremely concerned. I left without my half made nachos and won’t be going back.
I’m really sad to leave this review. Acton is such a small town with very limited options on where to eat. I was PSYCHED to have this option, and I’m hugely disappointed that it’s now confirmed to be unsafe.
This restaurant serves mexican food, tacos, burritos, mexican bowls, etc. Almost every ingredients you can put in your meal arr gluten-free (meat, vegetables, cheese, salsa, sour creme). They have a descriptive menu on their website with all the gluten-free options. The employees use gloves to pick up the ingredients and people often order burritos and quesadillas, so they do touch the gluten filled food. I often ask the employee who serves me to change gloves while telling them that I have coeliac disease, and they do so gladly. I went a couple of times and in different cities, and most of the time, the employees know about the gluten-free menu. Some even considered taking the ingredients from the backup pots to prevent cross contaminations, but not always. Like I said, I have severe coeliac disease (if I eat a small amount of gluten I get the worst stomach ache and potentially get sick) and I have never gotten any allergic reactions from this place. The food is very good too !
I checked the website for the allergen menu before going to Quesada. It was easy to access and read. I decided to order a burrito bowl. When I got to the restaurant, they refused to comply with a couple of my requests to try to avoid obvious cross contamination. I won't go back, and do not recommend if you are worried about cross contamination.
This location handled my celiac order well. You can get a burrito bowl or the hard shell tacos gluten free. I always get the hard shell tacos. Quesada has a policy that employees do not touch spoons to the flour tortillas so in general items on the line should be safe. Depending on the location and how they answer my questions, sometimes I’ll ask for fresh chicken/ toppings and sometimes I trust the line. Today I ate the chicken, and toppings from the line because I could tell the lady knew proper allergen protocols but always ask about cross contact!! Hard shell spicy chicken tacos are the way to go! (All sauces are also gluten free)
There are gluten free items on the menu - you can get a bowl or the hard shell tacos are gluten free. I had the spicy chicken - Hiren was very helpful in making sure it was made safely. He assured me the chicken would be safe from the line as they are trained not touch gluten burritos with the spoons but he still warmed me chicken from the back to be extra safe. He was also willing to get fresh toppings but I was only getting cheese and tomato and so I was okay with those from the line. I would eat here again.
Quesada is my favourite spot in town (Hebron way location is the best for gluten free). Staff are very knowledgeable, will change gloves and get fresh toppings from the back. You can get a burrito bowl or hard shell tacos and all proteins are gluten free. The queso is also awesome. Highly recommend!
Quesada is one of my go tos. This one is great. They put on clean gloves, wiped surfaces and only prepared my order. I discussed my concerns of cross contamination and they got food from a new container. Their website has all of the allergens and way to filter out gluten. I usually get a burrito bowl with either a salad or rice base. There are a number of proteins that are gluten free to choose from.
They have burrito bowls but wow are the cheap on the rice and toppings. Just enough rice to cover that bottom of the bowls. I had to ask if I could get a bit more to cover the other side of the bowl. Esp rice is cheap not like Chipotle where your stuffed trying to finish the bowl. I find it really salty but over all ok. Some where clean to get a fast bite.
