Fool me twice, shame on me.
We had 2 bad experiences here, about 8 months apart

Server was dismissive of my communication that I'm gluten free and was very condescending. (Should note that my husband and I have been servers for many years ourselves & are very gracious when interacting at food service establishments) I ordered rattlesnake tails off of the gluten free menu and they came out deep fried! I specifically reminded him GF when ordering, as well. When I told the server that I clearly will get sick if I eat this, he was VERY snippy and asked if I just wanted the manager to walk me through every single item on the menu. I never did see the manager. About 10 minutes after he insisted that it was fine and was so rude to me, he returned with a new plate, where they were grilled. He did not collect the contaminated plate from us and we had to ask someone else to clear it. Salad came out with croutons, I never got my soup. Margarita did not arrive until the bill did. Chalked it up to one terrible server.

The gluten free menu was gone & no one was knowledgeable about gluten. I ordered what I usually would - grilled salmon with green beans & salad. I learned afterward that the green bean recipe has changed and they are NO longer gluten free, and I was assured that they were. My salmon came out totally bare and overdone. (Not even salt!) Clearly the move of an undertrained cook who is being extra cautious - which I appreciate to a point, but it does not make me feel safe.
Spoke to management who was apologetic but did not offer to fix it or seem to have any knowledge of menu items either. We left without eating.
I will never return to this Saltgrass again.

My review is solely based off of the food available. The ridiculous weight time (45min became 2hr), no one answered the phone to make reservations, rude hostess, website didn’t support reservations, then told we need reservations…none of that is reflected in rating.
They do have a GF menu and it has plenty of selections. Our server, Gino, was knowledgeable and on it. Honestly, between Gino and the dinner, we quickly forgave the wait.
I had the Range Rattlers appetizer, 12oz Ribeye, broccoli, and mashed potatoes. All delicious! I was not glutened.
Bonus: Good drinks and nice wine selection.

What a delightful find! Our waiter brought us gf buns in place of the regular bread ( served with honey butter). I had Gulf Coast steak with grilled shrimp, baked potato and salad with ranch. Delicious!

Food is delicious but NOT SAFE for allergies. They don’t understand cross contamination. We’ve tried this location twice and both times they brought me food that was clearly unsafe. I ordered off the GF menu and the waiter didn’t know I needed grilled shrimp instead of fried. I also have a dairy allergy and went through the whole list of “I can’t have butter, cheese, sour cream… and if the grill has butter on it, it would have to be cleaned first or cooked in a separate area.” The first visit they brought me a steak with a big chunk of butter melting on top. The second visit they brought me a salad with 2 pieces of cheese in it. I asked for a new one, they brought me the exact same salad back with the cheese picked off. I started eating it and found more cheese under a piece of lettuce. No apology or offer to make it right.

There were many gluten free options, the wait staff was knowledgeable, and I was even offered gluten free bread (which was an udi’s bun). I had ribs and shrimp with garlic mashed potatoes and everything was very good. They also have tasty drinks and hard cider.

Hubby and I went for an anniversary dinner. Many had posted how great it was but we had several issues. We were seated in a booth with a very large party next to us and had issues just maneuvering to the seat. There was a vent over us so we had to wear our coats because of it blowing freezing cold air. He got ribs and shrimp and they were cold and overcooked, he ate them anyway as it took over an hour just to get a seat (we understood they were busy and did some shopping while we waited). I got steak and shrimp with baked potato and salad. I'm also allergic to garlic and the steak was perfect. My salad was good and surprisingly my shrimp was not overcooked like his. If you need GF, it's a separate menu. I was surprised to see an appetizer (shrimp jalapeno poppers). They were good but I had to be careful as it comes out on a bed of grilled onions which was not noted on the menu. I had to wait to order as they literally only have THREE GF menus (Isuggested they make more as I informed them of this app and their rating). I was disappointed I didn't get the GF bread that many had mentioned (asked and they didn't have). Our server was great and kept apologizing though I know many things were not her fault. Overall, would I try again? Yes, but not if it's so busy! I gave it a 4 because of the server and her knowledge of GF!

I ordered take out and left a small comment, Celiac- gluten allergy, like I always do. I got a burger family pack (came with 3) but there was no option for gf bun. I prayed it would show up not on bread. To my surprise they were all on buns but gf buns! They were soft and delicious! I cried at the notes on the food that proved they took great care in prepping. Burger was great! I ate it dry and it was incredible!

This Texas Salt Grass is hit & miss! Went 2 weeks ago and everything was great. Waitress was spot on about GF issues.
Went there yesterday, ordered a GF/DF burger ... on the GF menu ... they brought me a regular BBQ cheeseburger. I questioned the young man about the bun & he told me he entered it into the machine under GF. The manager did come out b/c I could look at that bun and tell it was not a GF bun. While the rest of the table ate, I waited for my food. Glory be, the bun was definitely different from what I was originally served & had been microwaved to the point I could not bite into it! For real! As I said, the meal before was fine ... except again they offered a GF bun as bread option & it was not as hard, but still wasn't worth the calories. My conclusion, skip anything with GF bread, otherwise a decent place to eat. Do ask for server with GF knowledge!!!

I ordered the salmon Cesar salad from the gluten free menu. The server caught that the kitchen did not make it gluten free by adding croutons. They didn't just pull the croutons off, the manager came and apologized and they remade the whole meal. Great staff that made for an enjoyable meal.

Called and verified if they have a gluten free menu. They do not have a gluten free menu however they have a "gluten sensitive" menu. Let the waitress know I was using the gluten sensitive menu. They let the kitchen know. They brought a gluten free bread and butter out. (It was a gluten free burger bun but I'm just happy to have bread) First place I've been to that had a appetizer. Ordered steak with side salad and loaded bake potato. Steak was a bit over cooked but tasted fine. Over all a solid meal.

I asked if the fries were gluten free and the waitress asked back "is it for celiac?"Always a good sign to me that the restaurant is knowledgeable when they ask that question. Unfortunately the fries were made in a shared fryer so we passed but they brought out some yummy gluten free bread and the menu items were great.

I did some research online, and viewed that they had a gf menu. When I got there and asked the waitress said they did not. I ordered the salmon and a baked potato, and didn't feel well afterwards. The best part of the meal was the wine. Terrible experience. Don't do it!

We tried this place on a whim and it did not disappoint. We got the potato soup, house salad with no croutons, 12 oz pat’s ribeye w/ mashed potatoes, and grilled shrimp. We explained to the waiter that I was gluten free and he did an excellent job of informing us what was gluten free and what I could alter. Another review said the soup was GF so we got a bowl and it was delicious. The steaks are all gluten free. The salad w/ no croutons was GF. My husband who is not GF ordered the shrimp and enjoyed his food. I’m not sure if it was GF or not. That also came with rice which I’m sure wasn’t GF. Overall it was a great experience. The food was amazing. Even our two year old ate the sliders w/ no bun and devoured the French fries. I’d definitely recommend as a GF option.

Spoke to a manager on the phone who they do their best (separate color-coded utensils, cleaning the grill, and using a designated area of the grill for GF) to avoid cc. Menu is limited (and due to Covid, three or four meals were not available on the menu), but enough variety to choose from. They use Udi’s buns (not the best out there) for burgers, but it’s better than nothing. The “traditional” burger was very good (I’m not typically a burger person, but it was delicious) and I got steamed broccoli on the side (shared fryer, so fries weren’t an option). No issues whatsoever afterward (sensitive celiac). Great stop along the Riverwalk!

I came here with my parents and informed our waiter of my gluten allergy. They brought me my own loaf of bread (the best GF bread out there), and I was informed the sirloin and mashed potatoes were GF. Our waiter was also extremely knowledgable with the menu options that were GF.

We went because this app said they have a gluten free menu, they dont. Hostess said our waiter would take care of us. They did bring out GF bread with butter, they were toasted buns but actually very tasty, we asked for more. Ordering is where it got sketchy, our waiter was 100% not knowledgeable with GF, I was researching the internet their items and told him this, he couldnt offer any help. He said the Ceaser salad without croutons would be GF so I ordered that as a side. 3/4 of the way through, I bit into a pc of crouton that was hiding under some lettuce. I look closer and realize there were crumbs in the salad and another tiny piece hiding. THEY HAD JUST TRIED TAKING THE CROUTONS OUT🤬 Manager and waiter profusely apologized and did make it right but Im warning you, this place is NOT celiac friendly

Customer service was excellent. GF menu had many choices of appetizers, salads, and meals. Staff was very knowledgeable about GF needs. They have GF hamburger buns and bread. The bread was very good and I did not have to ask for it. When I ordered, they assured me they would let the manager know and would accommodate my needs in the kitchen. I highly recommend this steak house!
