Awesome place and many gluten-free options available backed up by manual with ingredients. They also have gluten-free sprinkles and toppings. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. My kids loved it!!!
Plenty of options labeled gf but unwilling to take preventative steps for cross contamination.
Called to ask about gluten-freeness. The man on the phone said cones were gluten free- it seemed too good to be true so we asked to double check. Apparently NONE of them were gluten free, but the fact that he confidently said they were was pretty unsettling. If I hadn’t asked again, I would have gotten very sick. We also asked if they could get the ice cream from a new tub in the back and they said no. I wouldn’t ever say this place is safe for sensitive celiacs.
The ice cream flavors that are gluten free are clearly marked on the labels located on the glass above the ice cream. We were able to get a scoop from a fresh, newly opened container and the server washed the utensils first. I don’t know if we got a nice server or if they have changed their policy from the earlier review. It was nice to have an afternoon treat!
Typical Häagen-Dazs shop. Server had no idea about gluten and offered only raspberry and mango sorbet. Likely thought it was the same as diary or lactose intolerance.
Server did not understand the need for a clean spoon, and then went on to add the gluten free scoops to the non-GF ice cream already prepared for my other daughter.
We stayed our little one has Celiac and asked if they could change gloves/scoops when he decided what he wanted. Without hesitation the girl stated she open a new container for him. He didn’t get sick which was a relief!
Flavors clearly labeled GF, but server would not open a new container to prevent cross contamination with dirty scooper She said she would “push aside the top layer.” Not sure if this is effective.
They took good care with our order and even scooped from back stock for my family with 3 celiac’s. We will be back!!! We went to the other ice cream place in Spanish Springs and they were not interested in keeping us safe from gluten. So this is our go-to place from now on. Thank you for caring about those who can’t have gluten.
Not a safe location. I explained my situation and even though the worker was visibly annoyed it seems like she understood. Thankfully my partner watched her scoop from the display tub full of haphazard cone pieces. (I had to step outside) first she lied then I explained that there were literal come chunks in it and she admitted it was from the display but she scooped from the side so it didn’t matter. I asked if she would take it from a fresh tub like every HD location. She rolled her eyes and said “I’m not going to do that”
Had many gluten free choices of ice cream, you just have to get it in a cup.
Great experience here for my celiac child. All flavors were clearly marked. I asked the server to use a clean scoop and all I said was “allergy.” They not only went to wash a scoop, but washed their hands, got gloves, and scooped from a brand new container. Will visit again.
We asked if they could offer a scoop of ice cream for my daughter using clean utensils and a new tub of ice cream from the freezer. Staff were not willing to serve us and said they “don’t do that,” despite the fact that Haagen-Dazs offers many GF flavors. Very disappointed they won’t take a few simple steps to support customers who have celiac.
Do not go if you have celiac. Rude. Wouldn’t get any icecream from back. “too frozen” I’ve never been told that before at any Haagen daaz. Pints all over on display but they say they scoop from main tubs. Had a no way we can do that for you attitude. My daughter was crushed. Haagen daaz itself is amazing just don’t go to this store.
Cashier was very knowledgeable about celiac, she handed me a special menu. They always use a new scooper and get ice cream from a new tub in the back. My son was happy.
The stuff are kids who doesn’t know about Gluten or even the ice cream they serve, they do not use dedicated tools or environment
Haagen-Dazs have a lot of ice-creams that are ‘manufactured without gluten-containing ingredients’ but as I’m dairy-free also,I was expecting sorbet at best - not my fave(!) I was surprised to be offered salted chocolate truffle non-dairy ice cream. When I explained that I was concerned about cross-contamination, the server herself suggested opening a fresh tub. She said it would take a while longer as the ice cream was frozen solid. She spent a good 5 minutes hacking out a cup of ice-cream for me with a clean scoop, which was so sweet of her! The ice cream was really good, you could not tell that it was non-dairy. They don’t use gloves at Haagen-Dazs, which is my one gripe, but usually they only touch the outside of the cup and the scoop.
This review is intended for the Hagen Daaz Shop in Disney Springs. The Belgian chocolate and butter pecan ice creams are delicious! I mentioned to the cashier that I was ordering for 2 people needing gluten free ice cream. The manager handed me a list of options. When I asked about how they prevent cross contamination with items containing gluten, he said they use an allergen dedicated scooper and scoop the ice cream from a new, unopened bucket of ice cream. I asked the server to change gloves, which she did without questions or any awkwardness. Very pleased and looking forward to more ice cream this trip!
Server was knowledgeable about gluten free flavors and pulled out the nutrition book to let us look through. She got a brand new unopened container from the back and a clean scoop. Very sweet and helpful and we felt confident ordering for our young celiac child.
Excellent service and very knowledgeable staff made this a haven for our celiac child during four days at Disneyland. They have a special protocol to prevent cross-contamination. They opened a new tub of ice cream and used clean serving spoons. Haagen Dazs has many GF flavors plus they have packaged bars that come safe in a box too. Went on two different days with different staff and response, friendliness and knowledge were equally strong.
