I was excited reading the reviews and made a call. I not only have to be careful with finding gluten free products, but I have to know exactly the ingredients in the gluten free products. I have an allergy to coconut and sunflower. Most gluten free products has the added ingredient of sunflower oil, which makes it trickier yet for me.
I’m so so so happy!!! Finally a place with a gluten free pizza crust without sunflower oil!!! No, I don’t like cauliflower crust.
I've eaten here many times both as carry-out and delivery. If you disclose that you need a gluten-free pizza, telling them to follow their allergen protocol has always been successful in getting me a delicious pizza that hasn't gotten me sick yet. Most of their toppings are gluten-free, but I usually read the allergen menu online before ordering to be safe. The place is generally very safe and clean and the gluten-free pizzas are baked in these disposable tins to keep them out of contact with other pizzas. And they have packaged gluten-free cookies you can order too. Over all I can't reccomend this place enough.
If you say you have an allergy (usually they ask when you request GF crust), they will wash hands, change gloves, and wipe down the counter before starting to work on your pizza. They have separate sauce bottles for GF pizzas, and they are typically able to get new containers of ingredients out if you ask for it. Pizza is in a shared oven but they keep it on a separate tray and let the person on the other end know it’s coming. And they have a designated GF pizza cutter. You can watch each step in the process to be sure your pizza will be safe.
Amazing customer service! Took many precautions.
I’m impressed about the steps that are taken to provide a safe space for preparing a GF pizza. They all wash their hands and change gloves. They wipe down all their surfaces. Put the pizza in a separate pan and run the pizza on the top shelf of the cooker. Overall a great experience.
I am a symptomatic celiac and have been very impressed with the allergy protocols in place at this and every location that I have been to. I have never gotten sick and have gone at least 10 times and even to different locations. Definitely give it a try if you want pizza!
Y’all! We just went to Azzip Pizza on 31 and stop 11! Not only did they take my GF allergy seriously ( changed gloves, wiped down all counters and sauce tops, and put my pizza in a protective pan), but they were super knowledgeable about what was and wasn’t gluten free and what I could substitute! When I was ordering, I mentioned that the crab ragoon pizza sounded so good but that I was SURE it wasn’t GF. The person taking my order told me that she could make it gluten free. I decided to stick to my order and got the biggest surprise when I picked it up! She went ahead and made it for me gluten free for free just so I could try it and have crab ragoon after nearly 8 years without it! So super impressed! We will for sure be going back!
They have a GF crust (you pick the toppings). When you tell them you have an allergy they wash hands, sanitize counter, wash hands again, put new gloves on, and get fresh toppings from the fridge.
They will also do the same with a dairy allergy. THEY DO NOT USE SEPARATE OVENS (hense the one missing heart).
There's not really a "GF menu" but they do have a crust, and you pick your toppings (meats, veggies, sauce), it's like a subway but pizza. So you know and can see what exactly you're putting on your pizza.
I’ve gone no fewer than ten times once I realized it was a safe restaurant - I have had zero issues! I’ve only ordered out and write a note about celiac as well as mark that I have celiac.
I ordered a pizza for myself online, said my GF request was for an allergy, and wrote a note too (just in case!). The food was delicious and I had no reaction whatsoever. Maybe my new favorite spot in town!!
While there's always a possibility of cross contamination, we had an excellent experience. All the staff was well trained when we said gf crust. They asked if allergy or preferance. I said allergy. They wiped things down, changed gloves, got a new sauce out of the fridge, etc. And it was delicious.
First time in 6 months I felt safe eating in a restaurant. I almost cried when I said I have celiac disease and no questions asked it was called out hands washed gloves changed counters cleaned. My pizza never touched the counter. Went into the oven by itself in a pan that protected it. 30 minutes in still feel okay.
Great experience right from the start! Staff knew what cross contamination was without me having to explain. Counters were wiped down and gloves were changed without even having to ask. GF crusts are made on their own dedicated pans and all toppings (with the exception of the meatballs) are GF.
