Employees where very knowledgeable about Celiac disease. They have lots of options that you can eat and they DO have a separate area to cook your meal and a separate toaster. Awesome!
Always a must when we visit St. George. They do a gluten free French toast for my kids. They do warn about the cross contamination but my kids don’t ever seem to get sick from it. I get the quinoa bowl or the omelets. My daughter requested this last time to get their breakfast sandwich on gluten free toast and loved it. Everything is so fresh and delicious. My husband (who isn’t celiac) loves their biscuits and gravy and million dollar bacon.
I had a great experience here!! I went twice because I loved it so much. Everyone knows it’s difficult to find a gluten free toasted sandwich due to cross-contact, but I was able to get a gluten free ham and Gruyère sandwich toasted in a separate pan! It was so delicious. I’ve missed that sandwich so much I almost cried. A few of the servers are Celiac, so they understand the importance of cross-contact. I also got million dollar bacon and potatoes and had no problems.
I was unsure because of the mixed reviews but was gladed we have it a try! Our waitress was very knowledgeable and knew the French toast was not dipped in the same mix as the non gluten free bread. She also explained that there is a sperate area for the GF items to be made. It was delicious! I didn't get sick and will be back again!! My non GF hubby lived what he had also. Win win!!
They have a few items marked on their menu as gluten free (power bowls and they have gluten free bread).
I went twice during my stay and got
1. Power Breakfast Quinoa Bowl
2. Traditional Breakfast (sub gluten free toast)
Both times the waiters seemed knowledgeable about Celiac. Both times I also got a little allergy label with my food.
I thought both were good, the gluten free bread was okay. I did not react either time.
I explained to the waitress about my GF allergy and asked for my usual ( avocado toast with poached eggs ) I asked if the toast would be toasted in the same toaster as other breads, she said no, there’s a designated area for cooking “allergy” meals. I am not sure about other items on the menu that could be gf since I always eat the same item when I go here but it doesn’t hurt to ask the waiters, she was very nice and took my allergy consern seriously.
The only gluten free food is potatoes, eggs, toast, french toast. They have a gluten free menu that you have to scan the qr code with your cell phone. Upon looking at that the aforementioned food is the only gf items. Unless you like quinoa power bowls then there two of those. I did order a dragon blaze drink to go and it’s delicious no it’s not alcohol. Its made with dragon fruit. Our greeter and waitress were great but unfortunately we couldn’t eat here bc of low options. In my opinion this restaurant shouldn’t be on the gluten free me app at all.
I have been to First Watch twice in the last few months. First time I had the Salmon Egg Frittat. Second time I had one of the hash bows. Both were very delicious. I made sure the staff was aware of my gluten intolerance (Celiacs). Did not have any problems or side effects after eating there either time. I believe they are farore knowledgeable and accommodating.
They have allergens marked on a tiny print, complicated pdf online. So it’s difficult ordering. First time I was there waiter wasn’t informed. Potatoes were so spicey I couldn’t eat them. No butter or jelly for toast. Second time bar tender was well informed and said they prepare things sparely. potatoes were good second time and they gave me jelly for toast which made a huge difference. I will try a third time for sure.
This place is not safe. While I don’t have celiac, I am sensitive to cross contamination. They don’t have many GF options to begin with but I figured I might be safe with fruit and bacon (although I know even that might be a gamble). 2 hours later I was bloated and nauseous and the following morning woke up with my classic joint stiffness and pain and couldn’t put my wedding rings on.
Do not come here. I got a Parma hash bowl and I specifically marked no toast (cross contamination) and to bag separately. They put toast in the bag and put it AT THE BOTTOM of the gluten bag. I had to get it remade and they still put toast in the bag. They told me “everything was safe” but I got sick afterwards.
I have had so many delicious meals. They are very careful with cross contamination and I have never had any issues. They toast the gf bread in a pan since only one toaster. I have had the Traditional breakfast, Parma skillet hash, ham and gruyere omlette, bacado omlette, the works omlette, power breakfast quinoa bowl, Chickichanga made into an omlette, so no wrap, and Monterey Club on gf bread (amazing) with potatoes as the side. We go here quite a bit since it's safe an filling and delicious!!
I went there for the first time recently and absolutely loved it! Our server was super busy on a Sunday but still made sure to take the time to explain the gluten free items and even put gloves on when serving my gluten free toast separately. The food was delicious, I will forever dream about the million dollar bacon!
I thought a breakfast focused restaurant would have more GF options but no, not here. The bowls have gluten, the toast is CC, and even the omelettes are listed as containing wheat on their (online) menu. If you order strategically and make sure the waiter/waitress knows you have an allergy, you can come away safe.
They have gluten free toast (for no upcharge) and the menu has many naturally gluten free options. I had the AM superfood bowl which had chia pudding, fresh fruit, and homemade fruit compotes! Absolutely delicious and a great way to start my day! Food came out with an allergy stick.
I have gluten & dairy allergies and they were fantastic. My server was knowledgeable and after he submitted my order with notes for the kitchen the manager came over to talk to me. The manager's daughter has celiac so he is super passionate about allergies and cross-contamination. He explained the precautions they take in the kitchen & where there could potentially be issues depending on how sensitive I am. They do use a shared toaster to make GF toast, and he went into the kitchen to ensure mine was made in a clean pan under the broiler. He & our server checked in with me multiple times. A great experience & will definitely be back to this location.
Ate here this past weekend, and it was a great experience! The power bowls are GF and marked as such on the menu. I ordered the quinoa bowl. My waitress was able to put in a request to have the eggs cooked in their own pan to mitigate cross contamination. The flavor was decent; my waitress said the pesto chicken bowl is to die for, so I will have to try that next time. The waitstaff was very helpful in answering my questions about the menu and the allergy protocols here. Food was marked as being an allergy order, which was a pleasant surprise. I did not get sick and will definitely be back. Also the coffee here is delicious
Great breakfast place. Very knowledgeable about food allergies and cross contamination. My plate came with a pick with allergies on it. Their gf bread was delicious with their homemade jam.
Was told by waitress gluten free options. French toast was gf, omelets made separate. So I got an omelet with ham cheese and veggies, bacon, potatoes, and she was so excited for me to try the gf French toast. Well immediately after we left my stomach started to hurt, my day was ruined and ended up sick for a week. Never again! Beware! Don’t do it!!
Atmosphere was very nice. It's very nice that GF items are noted on the regular menu so you have the prices and full descriptions of meals right there and don't have to go back and forth between menus to find something you like. I ordered the hash dish. It had wayyy too much bacon making it ultra salty. I also ended up having some gastric issues. Two visits to the bathroom before I could even leave and had to stop at public restrooms twice on the way home. I would say that it is NOT Celiac friendly. I've been to two other locations in this chain and was fine from them. But this location? Needs more training and management over the team.
I used to feel safe eating here. The waitress said, we have been instructed to say we cannot guarantee your food will really be gluten free. We make no guarantees, ok? I said, "No, not ok. Her attitude makes me want to call management and explain how to keep a darn kitchen safe and how to tell your servers to speak to people to reassure them even if you can't "guarantee." Be specific if you go and talk to the manager.
