Gluten-Free at St-Hubert

We ordered chicken thighs and breasts for a whole group following a funeral and I chose GF options. I called after the order was placed to make sure that there was no cross-contamination and the woman said that she was herself gluten intolerant and that she would make sure everything was fine. They have a GF dedicated fryer for the fries. I took a chicken breast with fries (no sauce because there’s gluten) and a traditional coleslaw (gluten in the creamy one). I was still very sick in the evening…

They had an entire page dedicated to gf menu which was nice. There wasn’t too many options but staff was knowledgeable. You cannot have the creamy coleslaw because it isn’t gf which is a bummer but everything else was great.

They have a gluten free menu page at the end of the normal menu, and do specify that some food such as the creamy salad could be cross-contaminated, so to avoid it. However, the prices are only in the regular menu, so you have to go back and forth to find them. Also, they don't offer substitutes, they just don't give you the gluten items. So for the chicken and fries meal... You only get chicken, fries, and traditional salad. No sauce other than the ketchup on the table, and no bread. It isn't the biggest deal, but they could at least offer the ribs sauce or mayo or something. (Their classic BBQ sauce isn't certified gluten free) I am not celiac, only gluten sensitive, so I can't talk for the cross-contamination aspect of the restaurant, but when I did mention I was gluten free, they didn't put the gluten items on my plate, so to my knowledge, no bread or gluten was on my plate.

We had a great dinner at St Hubert! Our server was delightful and very knowledgeable about gluten-free options and the precautions taken in the kitchen, as well as anything that could pose a problem for me. Even though there is a limited time special of battered and fried chicken, there is a dedicated gfree fryer, so no potential cross-contamination issues.

I had a half rack of ribs with Cole slaw and fries and was delighted to see it also came with roasted broccoli and green beans. The ribs were so juicy and tender there was no need for extra bbq sauce (which is not gfree).

Given the choice, and based on this experience, I would always choose St Hubert over Swiss Chalet.

I work at the St. Hubert Express on Hunt Club & Riverside. Any of the original rotisserie chicken is gf, the salads can be made without croutons, rice and the fries are gluten free but not celiac safe. They have their own fryer but at the end of the night the oil that they are cooked in is strained through the same strainer as the other gluten oil. The fries are not cooked at a high enough heat to kill off all possible cross contamination. The creamy coleslaw is NOT gf but the traditional IS gf. Also the gravy does contain gluten. I hope this helps :)

Delicious rotisserie chicken with fries and coleslaw. Kids meals can come in a paper car that is cute. The server was very knowledgeable about what items were gluten free. Four stars instead of five because they had no gluten free dessert.
