Pancheros was an excellent choice for dinner. As indicated by tonight’s restaurant manager, all ingredients are gluten free with the exception of the flour tortillas. I had no issues.
Pancheros is very similar to Chipotle but, IMO, tastes so much better. All of their ingredients are gluten free except for the tortillas. All of the ingredients are already separate. I’ve never even had to mention “gluten free” to them and I’ve never had a problem with cross contamination and I eat there a lot. They offer burrito bowls and a lot of toppings. Panch is one of my favorite places to eat.
Pancheros was a good take out place. Similar to Chipotle, the staff will change their gloves when asked and they will serve you. Anything with corn is non gf. There is a small chance of cross contamination but it would only be if they use the wrong scoop. Otherwise very good take out.
I came here with some friends and it was so good! They have a gluten-free menu where everything is marked gluten-free except the chips and tortillas. It is similar to Chipotle and great!
Rice bowls are the best!
We eat at Panchero's all the time. The only item on their menu that contains gluten is the flour tortilla. They always cook the meat on a separate grill from the tortillas. Obviously we always get burrito bowls so I don't worry about asking the staff to change gloves but I am sure they would if you asked. The food is tasty though they can get busy sometimes and they might get low on certain items.
They will not change spoons for you to help prevent the likelihood of CC, would not recommend
I ate a rice bowl with beans, veggies, queso, and guacamole. I ate it with my own tortilla chips that I brought with me. It turned out well. I enjoyed it.
I went here during state softball with my team and was nervous to eat here but the manager or one of the employees was super helpful and took control. I got a bowl with rice, chicken, queso, guac, and salsa. But you do have to tell that that you have Celiac/GF and ask them to change their gloves and get fresh ingredients. If you tell them this, they should get spoons and can scoop the meat from the bottom of the pile to avoid recently touched meat. Then, they got the backup queso and fresh guac and salsa. It is a little more work and requests to eat here but it was delish and I didn’t notice any reaction.
I had a terrible reaction here. i got a chicken bowl (with extra chicken), rice, cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes. it said online that the chicken was Gf, but i also saw other reviews saying that the chicken is not. It must be the seasoning or marinated in something but i would not recommend to anyone avoiding gluten!
The Waukee location has employees who know how to handle gluten free and what items you can have. They change gloves, use a clean utensil and go down the entire line. The rice bowls with almost every choice of toppings is gluten free. So good!
I’m celiac. I let the girl working know that I was gluten free so she changed her gloves and everything. I didn’t even have to ask she understood food allergies because she is diabetic. However, my son used to work at a Pancheros and told me the chicken marinade has gluten. I looked it up and he was right, the steak is ok. In order to prevent cross contamination they need to be willing to change their gloves and it would also be great if they were required to use a utensil to scoop meat because I witnessed them touching dough and then putting that same gloved hand in the steak, they also had no clue that the chicken had gluten. So I ate it twice š¬
Staff is conscientious about switching gloves and getting fresh containers of toppings if there is any concern.
Awful service. Have been many times previously, with great experience. When we walked up, we asked the man to change his gloves, get a new rice, chicken, and utensils for both because we had a wheat allergy (actually celiacs, but people usually get that better). He said "excuse me?" So we repeated it. He said "seriously, are you kidding me?!" He muttered something under his breath. He then told his coworker to "deal with this", like we were a nuisance. As his coworker came over (who seemed quite nice, and shocked with this man's behavior), we said "excuse me!?", And he replied, word for word, "get your food and get out!" We replied "that was extremely disrespectful, we won't get our food, but we will in fact get out". we walked out. We were suprised, because pancheros has always been a great gluten free option for me, and have always accommodated to my needs. We did not catch this man's name, but he had a gray beard, rectangular glasses, and was almost completely bald.
Very similar to Chipotle except at the end of the line they take a big community spatula and mix all of your bowl/burrito ingredients up. Was totally not expecting that. So much cross contamination… I didn’t dare eat the bowl. This place is not Celiac friendly.
Most ingredients are gluten free...only problem is all the cross contamination...even with new gloves they dip the same spoon into the food that they just dragged across a burrito! I wish they were celiac friendly but they are NOT.
I’ve never gotten sick here and I emailed the corp and they said all meats are gluten free
Almost everything is gluten free, other than the wraps and desserts. I’ve heard mixed answers on the chicken marinade, so I just steer clear of that. The rice bowl with carnitas, queso, and guacamole are my go-to every time!
All menu items are GF except for the flour tortillas & the meat is marinated in flour. Chips are GF!
I ate steak, rice, black beans, guacamole and salsa...terrible reaction from gluten. The meat must be marinated in flour as review states below. I an gluten intolerant and extremely sensitive...would not recommend this food. Has a hard time finding accurate information, but my body basically told me there is gluten in the products. 3 day recovery from this experience...
Manager very knowledgeable and willing to answer my questions. Large selection of gluten free choices.
Panchero's is NOT able to accommodate a gluten-allergy. The manager informed me that ALL meat (beef, chicken, pork) is marinated with flour. He brought me the packaging and I confirmed that the marinade has ingredients that are not gluten-free. I ended up having to eat a veggie bowl with rice and beans which is obviously not fulfilling for a meal. I will obviously not be dining at Panchero's again.
I can have almost all they have to eat. Obviously not the fresh made flour tortillas. But all meats and veggies etc are gluten free. Just make sure they change their gloves.
