**High cross contamination risk. I have eaten here only a couple of times, but I did pickup each time. Yesterday I decided to go inside and get my food through the regular line. I was with my coworkers who really wanted to eat there or I would have left after what I saw. I watched as the ladies working the line scooped things directly onto pitas, touching them with the spoon multiple times. Also, as the pitas moved down the line, the edge rolled over the top of the food containers that were right next to the board. This would prob be ok for people who are strictly gluten sensitive, but for anyone with Celiac, it could pose a huge issue. I asked the first girl to change her gloves and please grab me a different bowl (she had already grabbed one before I was able to ask her to change the gloves). She gave me attitude and was not happy about me asking her to change them. Everyone one else also changed their gloves for me as I went through the line, but I couldn’t stop noticing many points of potential cross contamination. Will not eat there again for sure.

This place isn't gluten free. Had the basmati rice, grilled chicken, pickled onions and Greek vinegrette. Mixed it together and tested it with the nima sensor and came back GLUTEN. I'd be very weary of this place.

Cava is like a (more delicious) version of Chipolte but with Greek type food. You can choose a bowl or build your own. Everything is GF except the falafel and pita. The food was flavorful and healthy feeling. The staff changed gloves when I asked. I'll be back.

Cava is so great with gluten free! The majority of their menu is gf and they have gluten listed on all the ingredients. When I order online I just call and alert them of my allergy and they always assure me that they will change their gloves and make it right away to be sure it is safe. I’ve never gotten sick from here and they always make me feel very confident that my meal is safe!

They no longer has their gf labels on products… and staff isn’t positive but thinks most everything is gluten free… that is not reassuring. I am also having a reaction hours later from the “though to be gluten free” items. It’s a bummer cuz they used to label everything thoroughly.

Cava is a national chain that started in Washington DC and has recently gone all in on an expansion, and this converted Zoe’s kitchen is the first Houston-area location. Cava is a built-to order quick service establishment, just like chipotle. But the focus is mediterranean. Almost everything is GF except for the pita and some of the sauces. Love Cava

My wife and I are not celiac but we do not eat gluten or dairy. I really enjoy the food at Cava and I think the menu is very transparent about what is and is not compliant. However, I can imagine there is quite a bit of cross contamination based on the setup. Have not had a bad experience here yet!

Flower Mound location review!! The signage is very visible and clearly states what items are gluten free. You do have to be specific when you begin your order as the staff does not always understand they need to change their gloves before starting your Cava bowl. The food is excellent!

Cava has delicious food and used to be quite safe. Now that they’ve added the pita meals it’s not They warm the pita at the beginning of the line and then handle the pita and everything else. I went and had the girl working change her gloves- still I got sick. I knew better- watching them work.I’m afraid it’s out for me from now on.

Hello CAVA! I finally have a lunch spot in Athens! It is one of the build a bowl/wrap places like a Greek Chipotle. There is a menu online that details ingredients and an easily read allergen chart. The item tags on the barrier window indicates GF, vegan, etc. The selection is good. Fresh and flavorful. I feel like Oprah giving away free stuff right now = very happy! The first server on the line today was a bit inept (she was giving me white rice whether I wanted it or not. I didn’t. She won that round), but another server heard me when I said I had allergens to avoid and need recommendations. She seemed knowledgeable and so far I’m not sick. Yay! I had spicy lamb meatballs and spicy chicken on rice an arugula. Delicious! The GF meatballs were a treat. I didn’t ask but I feel confident the servers would have glove changed if I needed it. Everyone eat here so we can keep this place open.

I ordered a green and grains bowl with grilled chicken. I asked if the server could change gloves. She asked what allergy I have and I told her gluten. She gladly changed gloves and when my husband asked if she could scoop rice from the stored bins and not the bar because the rice was close to the pita bread, she did not only that but also the toppings. She said she recently had another customer with Celiac. So thankful for her understanding and willingness to take the proper measures to prevent contamination. For once, I didn’t feel like a problem. I wish I had caught her name. Definitely recommend this restaurant.

I heard this was a good place. I was super careful in what I ordered as there appeared to be several areas of cross contamination. They have knives in the hummus and other spreads. They spread directly from the bins onto the bread. They also scoop from there into the salads. I got the dressings on the side. I can’t speak to how it tasted because my gluten detection dog alerted that there was gluten in the bowl as well as in 3 of the sauces. I would not eat there if you have celiac disease like I do.

We eat at Cava all the time. If you avoid the pita and ask them to change gloves, you have a more than reasonable chance that you won’t get glutened. But tonight’s server insisted that we couldn’t get the white rice because rice has gluten. Not a huge deal but some room for improvement at this location.

I got as far as "celiac" and the waitress immediately said "no worries, I've got you covered" and went straight to handwashing and new gloves. She was very clear on explaining which few items were not GF, and like Chipotle followed me down the line while other servers stepped back so their food would not be held near mine. I felt very safe and appreciative.
I did return a week later and my server was a little less confident but equally enthusiastic and careful with the mildest of prompting on my part.

I have eaten here several times and have never been Glutened. Watch out for the location of the rice or lentils near the flatbread. I get the hummus, chicken or lamb meatballs (regular meatballs have gluten), and veggie toppings. Watch out for proximity of the veggies to the fried pita chips and avoid those located directly next to them. I get the lemon tahini dressing and no reaction.

The food was so delicious. I think I found a new favorite. They were so good at telling me what I could eat and checking other ingredients for my corn allergy. They also changed their gloves and took careful precautions from cross contamination. Most food is gluten free so there isn’t as much cross contamination risk.

Great food. Greek/Mediterranean-style bowls/salads. Their serving style is a create-your-own bowl, similar to Chipotle. Most of their menu is already GF (except falafel, tabbouleh, pita/pita chips, and desserts). They have an allergen page on their website that is very helpful as well.

Everything but pita and pita toppings is gf, cross contamination is a major issue. The same utensils are used to fill pita bread, and pita chip toppings fall into neighboring containers.
It’s unfortunate, a little more care (separate area and ingredients for gluten) and this would be a fantastic choice.
