Ordered a custom bowl of rice, arugula, steak and corn. Plain and simple. Tasted great and had no issues afterwards. That being said, similar to a Chipotle, the possibility for cross contact is high here given the small kitchen space. While I didn’t have issues, those that may be more sensitive, likely might. Try to go at a less busy time where you could more throughly explain your order and ask for the proper accommodations, etc. Be smart!

Dig the food here, mostly the bowls, like chicken and rice. Have to work with the manager to navigate the menu. Lots of options and fast.

After one good trip I thought this was the only place I can eat safely near Emory campus. Got the bowl and ask for a glove change, but I was sick as a dog! There was a lot of throwing of pitas.

Servers immediately changed their gloves when I told them I had Celiac. There were very few things that were not gluten free. I got a bowl, and felt safe. It was delicious! Will definitely go back again.

They said everything but the pita bread is gluten free. I've been twice and have enjoyed the food without getting sick. I've tried the steak and chicken bowls. Both were delicious. The workers are friendly and knowledgeable.

I was hesitant at first because I don’t like hummus and tahini, but it was so good! The chicken in a basmati rice bowl was amazing! I asked them to change gloves. There is a QR code you can take a picture of to make sure which items have gluten, it made me feel much better.

Most of their food is gluten free. They have an allergen matrix and will change their gloves and take precautions for cross contamination. I have celiac and I haven’t had a reaction.

I've been to this location twice. The first time was great. They understood the need to avoid cross contact and did everything accordingly. Food selections were plentiful and it was delicious. The second visit wasn't as easy. I asked if I could have the kids meal without a pita, and was told yes. I explained the allergy and asked her to change gloves which she did. Right after she put my lettuce in my bowl she picks up a pita to put in the warmer. I reminded her no pita and asked her to restart a fresh bowl with fresh gloves. She looked confused by the request, but did it. When we got to the dips, I asked to have it scooped from a fresh bin and she kept thinking I wanted it in a small side cup. After trying to explain what a fresh bin was several times to no avail, I just skipped the dip altogether. Then she passes my bowl to the next person on the line, which of course they handled right after doing someone elses pita. So ONCE again, they needed to restart my bowl from the beginning with new gloves. It was clear the girl who was serving me didn't understand the protocol or wasn't trained properly on it. By then there was a big line behind me, I was getting anxious about the hold up so just had them give me the bare minumum to get out of there. Once I left and looked at my order, I noticed they used the wrong base in remake #3. I was so frustrated I didn't go back in for a correction.
Since most of the menu is gluten free, and had a great first experience I will give it a decent safety rating, but you have to stay watch very carefully as your bowl goes through the line.

The staff was so amazing about avoiding cross contamination. They changed gloves, utensils for scooping the toppings, and used dressing and some veggies from the back to make sure it wasn’t cross contaminated. I didn’t even have to ask them to do any of that which is very rare. The food is also so good, and there are a lot of options! They have an allergen menu online. I have celiac and am very sensitive, but I didn’t get sick at all. I have only been once so I’m not sure if the staff is always so accommodating. There are pitas made on the same line with the salads. I would definitely still make sure they are being careful.

Only things with gluten on the menu are pita bread, pita chips, and falafel. Great food, but last time I ordered online for pickup I bit into a pita chip a few bites in. I spat out my food and had no symptoms, but I’d only order in person and still eat with care. They made me a new bowl when I brought it back though

Had this location cater to a work event, and it worked out great and I didn’t get sick! We did a build your own bowl, so we just ordered ingredients, and tried to mostly get items that are naturally gluten free. Their menu has plenty of gf options and the food is fresh and delicious!

Ordered the Harissa Avacado bowl. I checked online that it was safe before going and told the person making it that I was celiac, confirmed it was gluten free. He said yes. No glove change and I watched him make a pita for the person I was with right after my order, smearing the hummus onto the pita and touching the spoons to the bread. NOT SAFE for CELIAC.

This is the only place on Emory campus I can eat safely!
When I informed Kendoll that I had celiac disease he quickly agreed to change his gloves and took my bowl all the way through the minimize chance of cross contamination.
Kendoll even warned me about the pickled onions being likely to make me sick since they are right next to the pita chips in the toppings area, and I was disappointed because those are my favorite. He got me some fresh ones from back!!
I am elated to have found this place. Word to the wise avoid the lentils, which according to the cava allergy guide are not gluten free.

Delicious. Have an online pdf of all the allergens, very detailed. I like the build your own greens/grains bowl. Definitely use the same gloves reaching in tubs so I’d say there is cross contamination.

Not celiac or cross contamination safe :-(. I was super disappointed as the menu has a number of gluten free options but the dishes are made up along a line of ingredients so the serving utensils all touch everything. You can choose a bow or a pita and that is the issue. I didn’t ask of they could make up a bowl with new ingredients like some sandwich shops will do for gluten free. I may call ahead next time and see but they were so busy I didn’t want to cause a delay for others. This is one of my husband’s favorite places to eat (he doesn’t have a gluten issue). We walked in saw the situation and walked out.

I requested clean gloves which was not a problem. I then requested fresh hummus from the back due to the high risk of cross contamination with those spoons they use on the pita. The guy looked at me like I was crazy and asked me to repeat myself. I did, he finally did it but helped everyone else out first. The guy then left and someone else had to take over mid -preparation. I got the harissa sauce on top and didn’t feel great after. I only ate about half of the bowl. Maybe if you go in when it’s not busy it’s better but I probably won’t be going back to this location.

This Cava location is online ordering only, and there was no place to indicate a gluten allergy. But once I placed my order, I went inside and got someone’s attention from the back and let them know I have a gluten allergy. The server was very careful with my order and even packed it in a separate bag from my husband’s. Overall, great experience and I will be returning!

I originally liked this place a lot after eating here a few times with no reaction but the staff started getting really irritated with my requests and simply just not listening to me (i.e. telling them to change their gloves and then turning around to touch the pita… then having to ask them again to change their gloves). They usually give me a hard time there now and I’ve noticed when I go with friends there is a lot of cross contamination happening before the food ever hits the line. I’m super bummed because this place tastes so great, so I learned to make it for myself at home instead :)

For a fast food chain this food is great. I always get a bowl with their chicken saffron rice, and switch up my toppings. Their garlic sauce is to die for. It reminds me of a Greek version of chipotle. Food tastes fresh always and has so much flavor! I have ordered this numerous times and have not gotten sick. They have so many different options on how to build a bowl.

Cava’s in general are very celiac safe- there is only one gluten containing item on the menu and that is the pita. There is an online pdf available for allergens if you also avoid other things. This SPECIFIC cava has the best vibes and the staff is very kind and doesn’t make you feel like you’re annoying đź‘Źđź‘Źđź‘Źđź‘Ź before I even finished my sentence of “I am celia-“ the employee was taking off his gloves and walking to wash his hands. He took out the allergens menu and checked everything I was choosing as we went down the line. I love this place but I will say they are pretty sloppy with the pita chip topping so I would recommend asking if they can bring out a fresh tin if you want something that’s in one of the tins beside the pita chip topping. I go here regularly and always feel really safe and taken care of and it is SOOO YUMMY
