The waitress was super helpful and patient. They clearly mark which dishes are gluten free. I had the masaman curry and it was amazing. I didn’t see any alcohol I could have (besides wine) but the waitress informed me they can switch the vodka in certain drinks to Tito’s brand! This will be a regular spot for me when visiting Charleston.

Very good food. Excellent service. Helpful staff.
Visiting Charlotte and read reviews so I tried it. Limited menu, pad Thai, fried rice , 2 soups. Had chicken satay but couldn’t eat sauce bc they thicken it with flour. Staff is very knowledgeable If you like shrimp they have GF basil spring rolls, not fried.
Yes
The menu has gluten free options noted. The waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and was able to suggest items that were also soy free. I had the soup and some of my husband’s pad thai. They were very good.
Great food, clearly marked gluten free items on the menu, and they said marked down that i have Celiac disease!
Yes
Food was soooo good! I got the pad thai and duck salad (actually two servings of the pad thai)! The staff is knowledgeable and caring about Celiac. Would definitely go again!!!
Yes
Menu is clearly marked. Have eaten here multiple times without getting sick! Delicious!
Yes
Ordered take out and the hostess was aware to add “gluten free allergy” to the ordered items. Menu items were clearly marked that were gluten free or could be made gluten free. We got pad Thai and the curry which were awesome!
Yes
I have celiac and have been here plenty of times... haven’t gotten sick once. Easily done dairy free as well. Great place!
Yes
GF items are clearly marked on the menu. My waitress was knowledgable about celiac and said she would note that I had celiac to insure the kitchen took extra care to avoid cross contamination. I had the pad thai and it was excellent.
Yes
This is the third Basil resteraunt we have been to. They always seems knowledgable about gluten free and there are a couple options on the menu. Mike my hubby is intolerant and I am diagnosed Celiac. I have eaten at Basil 4 times and have had no issue so far. I do indicate that gluten free is not a preference but a medical need.
Gluten free options are marked on the menu, pad Thai and basil rolls are fantastic!
So many GF options of their menu! So delicious too. Staff is caring.
Yes
Delicious! The staff was very knowledgeable. We had amazing pad Thai and chicken fried rice. So many tasty options. Waiter was kind and understood celiac disease. For my birthday they gave me coconut sticky rice with mango! Loved everything. Will definitely be back!
Yes
The menu was clearly marked and the food was delicious. Highly recommend.
I echo Corey's comments and also agree the coconut chicken soup was awesome. Green curry was also excellent and there were a few dinner options to choose from.
Excellent food. The chicken coconut curry soup is incredible. The staff is completely knowledgeable about GF/celiac/cross-contamination.
Have eaten here multiple times with no issues.
Yes
Surprised by the options, even for my 3 year old. Fried rice to order, just how she would like it, and they seemed to know the severity of CC. No noticeable symptoms so, 5 Stars!
I am ultra sensitive and I get reaction from Basil. Not sure if it is the MSG or cross contamination but definitely not 100% for me.
Food is excellent here and the menu has several GF options that are cleay marked. The sauce that came with the Spring Rolls was not GF because of the Hoisin sauce. So, waiter offered to bring the sauce without the Hoisin in it. Waiter was very nice and accommodating. We had GF Pad Thai and GF shrimp fried rice.
Yes
Staff was very knowledgeable. They made sure allergy protocols were followed. Appetizers, curries, fried rice, and other dishes were available.

Excellent food and they really took my Celiac seriously

I am so thankful for Basil Thai. I had a coconut soup, an appetizer that was lettuce wrap style and Pad Thai. I loved the Pad Thai!
Very tasty food, great service. Menu clearly marked. Best of all I didn't get sick.
Great Pad Thai - clear menu
I ordered the Pad Thai. It might have been the best I ever had. Service was impeccable. Menu is well marked GF and staff was very attentive. Will definitely go back.
Plenty of options. Items were labeled as GF on the menu. I also have a dairy allergy and they were able to talk through options.

Celiac who has never gotten sick here. The Pad Thai is my fav but everything is yummy.
Fantastic Thai food for gluten-free eaters and gluten eaters alike! There are quite a few menu options for GF, and they all taste delicious! They staff is knowledgeable and helpful.
Good food but had a bad reaction after. I was so disappointed.
Everything was delicious. My husband had no reaction. We Would definitely go again when coming back to Columbia.

Gluten free food is marked on their menu. Contrary to another review, they use regular soy sauce for all the entrees (and didn't accommodate for us) and use gf soy sauce on the table which made it hard.
Very good. The main menu was clearly marked with many gluten free options. My table ordered Pad Thai, curry, beef satay, soup and Sweet and Sour chicken. All entrees came with an Asian coleslaw and white rice. The Pad Thai was awesome. The waiter informed me that they recently switched their house soy sauce used in the kitchen to a gluten free brand.
Amazing food. Great service. Best Tom Kai gah I've ever had!
Great Pad Thai. Gluten free marked on the menu.
The food is delicious. I have never been "glutened" here!
I have Celiac and I made sure to tell my server when ordering. I ordered the Pad Thai which is naturally gluten free but it apparently was not gluten free as I was very ill afterwards. My server kept trying to cut me off as if he knew what I was talking about.

I saw they had pad Thai which is my favorite Thai dish so I didn't even look at how many gf dishes they offered. I told the waitress I couldn't eat gluten, and she took it very seriously. My meal was great although the shrimp and chicken were both slightly over cooked. I loved the noodles, sauce, and sprouts, and was thankful for a safe meal which is so hard to find in Asian restaurants.
Yes
Great Pad Thai. Gluten-free items are marked on the menu very well.
One of my favorite restaurants in Columbia SC! GF options are wonderful. I had the coconut soup and the pad Thai - the beat I've had!
Noodle options are NOW GLUTEN FREE AGAIN
Yes
The first time I visited Basil Thai (9/2014) I was IN LOVE with the pad thai! Hands down the best I ever had. I recently visited Basil again (March '15), and the waitress informed me that their restaurant had just changed their noodle supplier and the noodles are no longer gluten free. Big disappointment! Sadly, it really limited the menu and I won't be visiting again.
Items are marked gluten free on the menu, Very helpful staff.. and the food was great!
Yes
They have gluten-free sake (its also kosher and sulfite free). The spring rolls are amazing, have them leave out the peanuts and hoisen (plum) out of the dipping sauce. Coconut chicken soup is amazing!
Lots of gluten free options. I had the shrimp salad and loved it
Yes
The coconut soup and the duck salad are great
