Went there a few months ago to get dinner. I observed the employee that assembled the woman's order in front of me. She ordered some kind of wrap because she grabbed a flour tortilla. As she went down the line, she requested rice on it. However, instead of the employee using the ladle that was already in the rice, she proceed to go in with gloved hands that had touched the flour tortilla, to grab the rice instead. I immediately walked out and left. If you have Celiac (which I do), I would not risk it. Too much cross-contamination.

They're great about getting toppings from underneath and changing gloves. Sad to no longer enjoy the fried fish tacos but love that I can still eat here-its cheap, quick and an easy place to dine with others.

Was super excited to try this for lunch, sadly after a few bites I got very sick. The people there were unsure what was gluten free

This particular location of Blue Coast is great about gluten free. This location (and as far as I know, only this location) even has a dedicated fryer for gluten-free chips. They will pull what you want from underneath the counter rather than risking the regular line if you specify gluten-free. They also change gloves and everything. I always ask for mine in a to-go box so I don’t risk commonly used plates and such. But I will say some people at this location even start switching gloves when they see me walk in the door đ

I eat there so often and never have an issue. I know it used to be not as safe, but managers changed and now I never have a problem. They change gloves, wash hands, get new utensils, make sure those utensils don’t touch the other ones, etc. Honestly they’re pretty much the only place in cookeville that I 100% trust other than P Dilly’s. Even the newer people will go find someone to ask if I tell them I have a gluten allergy (which I say even though I’m celiac).

Not safe at all. I asked for tacos and the server grabbed flour tortillas, so I corrected her and said it was an allergy. Without changing her gloves she grabbed the corn tortillas and put them down right where the flour ones had been on the counter. One of the corn tortillas overlapped with a flour tortilla from another person’s order. Needless to say, my non-GF hubby got double the dinner.

A favorite for me (Celiac) and my friends! They have delicious pineapple salsa and fruit tea. Yum! Almost their entire menu is gf except the flour tortillas and fish tacos (fried fish). Servers will change gloves upon request. There is usually a decent line to order your food, but it is worth the wait for fresh and delicious food!

I ordered a bowl. The ingredients were fresh, portions were substantial and I did not react adversely. Will definitely visit again.

Honestly the worst thing about this place is the food itself. Their portion sizes are ridiculously small and slapdash, they're happy to forget your food and rude about giving you what they forgot, and the food is mediocre at best.
Would not could not recommend.

Most items on the menu are gluten free. They tell me that their chips are fried in shared oil (unlike some of the reviews below) so I stay away from them and flour tortillas. Just make sure you tell them every time you eat there about your needs. I get nervous that they change things often.
The bowl is a great option and it is very filling

When I let the servers know my daughter had celiac, they changed gloves and they got all her nacho toppings from new containers under the buffet so there was no chance of cross contamination. She is sensitive and has obvious reactions when glutened, but she had no trouble after eating here. We’ll be back!
This is from their website: DID YOU KNOW? That almost our entire menu is gluten free? That’s right! At Blue Coast we don’t want allergies to get in the way of our customers enjoying a meal, so we give the extra effort to make sure everything (with the exception of the flour tortillas and the baja fish) from the meats to the freebies are GLUTEN FREE! If you have an acute allergy, please note that the corn tortillas and the chips are made in a facility that also processes wheat.
Yes
When I asked if they have options for gluten allergy and they responded “no.”
Tried the grilled chicken taco salad with chipotle honey mustard dressing. Very tasty. I did not speak with anyone in the kitchen but their website has an allergen page and I felt comfortable eating here based on that.
Great staff; they try to be very careful.
Yes
The food here is great, but a change (laziness) in their food handling practices have made it so that I get sick from CC every visit. I discussed it with the owner, but nothing changed. I no longer eat there.

Food was not good at all. I wouldn't eat there even if I didn't have Celiac!

The staff is awesome and the gluten free procedure is amazing, but the overall quality and taste of the food is cardboard and dull.
Yes
The staff weren’t super knowledgeable, but the restaurant itself is almost entirely gluten free, as stated on their website. They do carry flour tortillas and their Baja fish contains gluten. But I had delicious carnitas tacos on corn tortillas with several fixins and no symptoms.
The Cabo bowls are great for those of us with Celiac! Never gotten sick here and I have been here several times!

They always know exactly what I’m talking about when I say “gluten allergy”— never been glutened by them! They also always change their gloves and use fresh ingredients for me.

More cautious than Jason's Deli - that's saying a lot!
Celiac friendly. Just let them know your Celiac before you order. They get clean utincles. pull from the fridge. Food is good. I had a taco salad.

Employee immediately took off her gloves and washed her hands thoroughly when I said it must be Gluten Free! She also opened new bags of cheese and Pico for my bowl! It was fantastic and I didn't get sick. Highly recommended!!

Ordered gluten free taco salad. They changed gloves, got a clean serving spoon wrapped in paper towel as they moved they assembly, pull ingredients from fresh containers in frig. I am not celiac but choose gluten free. So a little cross contamination would have been ok but I did not want to interfere with their process. Great job Blue Coast and its staff in Cookeville TN. Food was fresh and tasty! Will never go to Taco Bell again!

I told the young man I have celiac and he changed his gloves without me asking. He handled my order freon start to finish. And he didn't use the topping that were out. he pulled from the fresh untouched stuff in the refrigerator below. he seemed to totally get it.
Yes
went in asked them about GF options. They went over all their items. basically everything has to be bowl. none of the wraps for burrito or tacos are GF. I had a burrito bowl, no problem at all. they do not have a GF menu, with that said their menu is a board on the wall. would be nice if they could add GF or V for Vegan. I was a little nervous about eating there. one of their workers came out and talked to me, which made me feel better.
Sloppy handling of cross contaminants. Got sick. Not returning there.

They are not careful. Most things have a possible chance of cross contamination. Service unfriendly.

Delicious food and many GF options. In fact, everything on the menu is GF with the exception of flour tortillas!

Successful gluten free night at a new place for us. We had the nachos with chicken, rice, cheese and veggies. And their fruit tea was great.

Delicious and very friendly and knowledgable. They washed their hands and got ingredients from separate containers to avoid cross contamination. My burrito salad was overflowing so tasty! Definitely coming back! ..... Follow up: that evening I was hunched over in pain. Unfortunately there was cross contamination.
