They have a dedicated fryer in the back for fries and tots! They no longer put buns on the grill and offer lettuce or GF buns now. Owners son has gluten allergy and they are up to date and required precautions

Awesome experience. Best gf bun I've tasted since my diagnosis. Also noticed the cook was very careful with my items wearing new gloves, etc. I was a customer even before my diagnosis but will be even more so now. So grateful to be able to have a treat once in a while.

At first the person at the counter said they had no GF. Then someone else stepped in and as it turned out to be safe I had a hot dog on a plate. No fries, no bun truthfully they had little knowledge of GF. They should not be on this site. NO GF rolls for hamburgers. Not happy!

Why is this listed here? Who got a gluten fre bun here? How? They literally don’t even have gluten free buns.

The only item gluten free is the burger. They do not have a gluten free bun and the gal went over the menu, there are no gf sides. Fries are fried with onion rings, etc. so not safe for celiac. Disappointing.

My husband and I are on vacation and sometimes it can be difficult finding a GF restaurant. I found this little gem on this app and they are wonderful, very accommodating, they charged their gloves to make my food. I ate the grilled chicken sandwich with gf bun and fries. So good! Highly recommend...

Called and they don't have a dedicated fryer. They do chicken fingers in one side and fries and onion rings in the other.

Server told me had nothing that could be prepared without contamination, and not just in a CYA way. Said there are buns on the grill and can’t provide a clean area. Very disappointing. We left without ordering.

They finished up all of the other non gluten free orders before even starting my order and made sure to wipe down the grill.
I really liked the gluten free buns they had, it was probably one of my favorite gluten free buns that has been offered at a restaurant. The burger was definitely bigger than I expected which was a plus.
If you do end up going here you might have a longer wait time then everyone else because my order was one of the last ones they did due to their concerns about cross contamination.

Good experience. Dedicated fryer for fries and chips. Cleaned off grill for burger. Gf buns.
Went for lunch and got The Classic with a GF bun and fries. They allow you to add/remove toppings or build your own. I was unable to eat breakfast and it was later than usual for lunch so I inhaled it. The patties didn't stay together because they are thin (comes with two). I felt they were a little dry and since I'm trying to be completely DF, I didn't get cheese. Maybe that would have helped? Fries were good but in my haste, I didn't ask if the fryer was dedicated. My stomach hurt a little later on but honestly that could have been from the way my day went with eating. I will try again at a later date.
The staff is super friendly and you can substitute a bun for a lettuce wrap instead. Also the tatter tots are really good. Especially with Old Bay on top.
The lady working there said they put their PRETZEL BITES IN THE SAME FRYER AS THE FRIES!!! The fries are NOT safe. I was so bummed. Gluten free buns were still on back order. We ended up leaving.
No
Still no gf buns. Told me on backorder for 3 months. Ate burger in lettuce wrap. Meh...
Ya this is bull crap they don’t have gluten free buns so this should be taken off and the staff didn’t seem to want to help me and my dad.

Fast food con ordinazione in cassa. Alla cassa, il personale è stato molto disponibile e preciso sul gluten free. Panino e patatine buonissimi! Lo consiglio! Cosa importante non sono stata male
Yes
They used to have GF buns but they don’t carry that anymore
The staff here was knowledgeable about gluten free needs and accommodated me. They were out of gluten free buns but I was able to get my chicken on a bed of lettuce instead. They offered me fries, chips or tots all cooked in a dedicated fryer.
Yes
Stopped in today because of the reviews.. in PCB on vacation. They do have GF buns but not currently because they have been on back order for 2 months. Everything looked and smelled good, but we ended up going somewhere else..
Separate fryer for breaded things, yea!! They willingly changed gloves and cooked my order carefully. When i'm in Beaufort this will be my stop!
Great place for gluten free food! I am more so allergic to soy and they do fry in soy as a side note. Great food!
Yes
They do have gluten free bun. Flavor of bun is good but easily fell apart. Overall good burgers.
Burger is not made in a separate area. They just clean the grill off. And microwave the gluten free bun. Said they had a separate fryer for just the french fries but unsure if they just fry the fries in it. Was not impressed.
This place was the bomb! Gluten free bun was amazing! Separate fryer for the fries. No reaction to the double burger and fries I had there yesterday and they were both soooooo good! Will return on this vacay and any future ones!
Yes
Yummy! We had burgers with GF buns and asked for plain tater tots. (The staff wasn’t very patient with our questions but it was worth it.)
Yes
We were excited to go here but upon arrival they had no GF buns left and informed us that they occasionally fry a slider bun in the same fryer as the “dedicated” fry fryer. Not safe for fries and not worth staying for a burger with no bun and no fries. One employee did not understand our request and the second employee was knowledgeable but told us it was unsafe.
No
This place is awesome! Great burger GF bun, dedicated fryer. Awesome service. The whole experience was great. Highly recommended!!
He claims it was the best burger he has had in several years. It had a dedicated fryer for fries but he didn’t eat too many after being stuffed from a giant hamburger. For the record. We had also just traveled 13 hours in a car and we were all starving. Still we will go here again.
Great chicken sandwich on GF bun, with separate fryer for fries. Menu doesn't tell the story, ask they'll answer.
Yes
This was my first visit to a Wayback and it was excellent. Kevin, who took my order, was fantastic. He clearly understood Celiac and informed me of what was gluten free and assured me that they would clean off the grill before cooking my burger. He indicated that the chips and fries were cooked alone in the fryer and were safe. They offered Udi’s GF bun if I wanted one. The food was very good and I had no issues.
Yes
I’m not sure why this specific restaurants on here...the last three times I went they said they didn’t have thebuns
I’ve never had a problem with their burgers. The first time I was encouraged to get the tater tots instead of fries. I ended up getting sick. After a while I decided to try them again. I ordered the fries and didn’t have a problem. Excited to have a burger place to go!
Yes
Udi’s buns and a dedicated fryer made this a safe place for us. When asked about the dedicated fryer, they stated they fry no gluten in it and filter that one first when cleaning to avoid cross-contamination. They couldn’t say that the milkshakes were gf and let us know up front that the veggie burgers are definitely not gf. Great food and affordable! Would highly recommend to a sensitive celiac.
Yes
Tasty tasty! Will accommodate any need. Even own fryer - so good
Yes
Ate there for first time this week and the burger and fries were really good. Staff was trained to avoid cross contamination. Great experience.
Yes
Was able to get a lettuce wrap burger when the Panera bread next door was no help at getting anything gluten free. The manager at way back burger was very knowledgeable the workers not so much. Fries are not because they are processed and may contain gluten but they do have a dedicated fryer. Also had them clean the milk shake maker and had a yummy chocolate milkshake!
Not celiac friendly, so poor rating.
No
Took great care cooking my burger in a separate area. Dedicated fryer and a knowledgeable owner.
Yes
They don’t charge extra for gluten free bun š this place is so great!
the best GF bun i have ever had!! dedicated fryer for their french fries and excellent burgers! very good prices especially for the quality of food.
Yes
Dedicated fryer for the French Fries is always a win in our book. They also had a gluten free bun, and the cashier told me they have a gluten safe area on the griddle to toast them. They were friendly and knowledgeable.
Yes
Beware the fryer. They say that they have a separate fryer but they fry a veggie burger which contains wheat along with the fries and chips. However they do clean the grill and change their gloves for your burger and have gluten free udi buns. The burger was very good and most of the toppings are gluten free as well.
Yes
They do not know what gluten free is at all.
They had udi’s gluten free buns and dedicated fryer for fries. Staff seems careful to avoid cross contamination. They cleaned the grill and changed gloves. Delicious burgers!
