Menu notes their famous crab fries as being gluten-free
I was so excited to find out I could still have the crab fries! What a treat. The fryer is dedicated and the staff was kind. We flew through the airport on Thanksgiving and I couldn’t believe they were open but was so happy that I even got an extra order of the fries to take with me (and of course tipped well).

Order crab fries with cheese, aioli, and crab meat, crab nachos, and steam clams with butter. The waiter seemed knowledgeable and food was good. Didn’t get sick.

Love ordering from here. One of the few places that has gluten free wings and they are great! Also love being able to enjoy their fries. Have ordered here many times and haven't become sick.

Not sure where the bad reviews for Chckie & Pete's are coming from. I'm celiac and absolutely love the wings and crab fries, which are all gf anyway, no special accommodations needed. It would be a shame if anyone not from here didn't try it! Just be careful of Chickie & Pete's stands, like on the boardwalks and stuff, but the restaurants are good to go
Yes
Sometimes great, sometimes just fine. Crab Fries and Sweet Crabby (the BEST) fries are safe, as well as their wings and any steak/sandwich without the bun. As far as protocol, the wait staff is hit or miss. I have never had an issue but have had to stress the severity of my “allergy” many times before. Veteran servers have been vigilant and fantastic. As well as having been told they didn’t have a gluten free menu the first time we asked (hostesses were clearly not trained), and accidentally being given barbecue sauce for fries (we caught it within one bite and was an honest mistake at the airport location. Unfortunately I had a mild reaction). I miss getting a real steak but nice to know I can still go to an iconic philly establishment and get their fries at sports events.
Yes
Gf menu. Separate fryer. My son never had any issues here. I was told the owner has CD
Yes
No specific gluten free menu but they are able to modify a few things. I got a burger with no bun. I did not get sick.
I gave 4 stars because we went there twice during our stay. We went for lunch one afternoon and that visit was a good experience, but when we went around 12 am the next time the service was terrible.
My son is very sensitive and has never had an issue. Separate fryers.
Yes
Staff kept telling me the wings are gluten free, but when I asked if anything with gluten was cooked in the same fryer they said no. I had a weird feeling so I asked one more bartender who didn’t seem so frazzled and she said the boneless wings were cooked in the same fryer as the regular wings, aka cross contamination. She was super helpful in suggesting the fries and nachos which were safe for me. I’m very grateful for that one bartender but the other bartender and waitress who weren’t listening and had no idea what I was talking about were frustrating to deal with.
The fries are gluten free they are in their own frier. I’ve been here a bunch and they are always helpful! They have a lot of options
Yes
They have RedBridge beer, gluten free fries (which we get without the seasoning because it tastes better), cheese burger without the bun.

I've eaten here a few times and never had any issues. I let the waitress know I had celiac and she checked everything with the cook to be sure I was safe. The fries are cooked in a dedicated fryer and I never had any problems with them (though everything else fried goes into a shared fryer). If you don't mind a burger without a bun, there are a good range of options on the burgers. You just need to communicate clearly with the staff. Go and enjoy.
Yes
I will start this by saying: It's really just a bar. So I keep my expectations low with the staff knowing (or caring) much about my allergy. With that said, I have never had a reaction to Chickie's crab fries, which are GF and cooked in a dedicated fryer. It's quite a convenient option for me as they are available many places (concert venues, airports, ect) that don't have much GF food. This is a huge deal and I thank them for that.
Secondly, I only go to this restaurant when I don't want to miss a night out with friends. I go for the bone-in buffalo wings, which do not contain gluten. Sometimes I'm okay, and other times I'm not, so cross contamination is a concern here.
Crab fries are gluten-free and cooked in a dedicated fryer. Bone-in buffalo wings are gluten-free. I have never had a reaction. The owner of chickies is GF and vocal about this.
Yes
Not sure why they are even listed here had two items gluten free nachos n wings n I did not trust that.
No
Love it here! I have been many times and have always had great experiences! Occasionally in other locations I have been told they don’t not have a gluten free menu but if you just look online, there clearly is one! Everything is delicious and a variety of things to choose from! I will be sad when we move away and can’t come here anymore!
Was a favorite for my daughter, but there was an issue on our last visit. She only eats the fries with the cheese. Not sure what happened, but guessing some kind of contamination with the fryer. So disappointed as it one of the few places we like to go.
Wings & fries have dedicated frier. Eat her many times and no issues
Yes
First of all, there is not a separate GF menu. The waitress was not very knowledgeable. There are very limited offerings. Very disappointed.
They told me they don’t have a gf menu. No options.

Celiac kid can feel normal here. Never had any problems and have gone several times
Crab frys are gluten free at chicken and petes all is well

The gluten-free cheese steak is just a cheesesteak served on a plate without a bun. But it cost a dollar less than the regular sandwich. They have one kind of gluten free beer, Redbridge. They said the crab fries are gluten free. As far as gluten-free meals go, it's not bad.
Yes
You definitely have to ask questions and really explain your situation but overall good place for some gluten free junk food. The crab fries are done in a dedicated fryer (always ask). I also love their wings, crab nachos, cheesesteak nachos and shrimp. Also the mussels are amazing just be sure to remind them NO BREAD.
Staff was very knowledgeable. Fantastic gluten free wings. Separate gluten free menu.

A sports bar with good GF choices. This was my first time to a Chickie and Pete's, but surely not my last. We sat at the bar and asked for a GF menu. I asked the usual questions and the bartender had all the answers. Including that they have a separate fryer. She even offered some cider choices as a drink.
Being able to eat fried food in a sports bar is like a slice of heaven. Just the fact that any of the appetizers were GF would have been enough for me. We had cheese steak nachos, crab fries with cheese sauce and buffalo wings. All were very good and were nice hearty portions.
A nice bonus is that their GF menu has "naturally" GF items, there is no upcharge.
Yes
Good fries. They have a gluten free menu as well. I'm worried it's not really done in a dedicated fryer.
Boo - don't bother!!! Not Celiac Friendly and few GF options.
No
I love the crab fries here and have never had an issue. I ate here last night and got wings off gluten free menu and have been sick the last day. Do not get the wings!
Very limited menu (basically only meat) and Unknowledgable staff (my waiter asked the manager about dedicated frier and took 20 min to get back to me with info.... It was NOT busy) more expensive than it seems: the $18 crabs legs don't come with a side dish, that's extra Many things come with weird sauces and seasonings that aren't in the menu description.
No
very good gluten free menu choices. staff is very good about cross contaminants. bone in wings, crab fries and crab are all gluten free.
Yes
very good with celiac. great menue and care for cross contamination
I absolutely despise this place. The staff is so rude in general, but I've actually been screamed at while at my table for taking too long to order when they were busy.
They do not have a dedicated fryer so the only options for me (I have celiac) were steamed clams, crabs, lobster, and burgers with no buns (though I would not really be sure I would trust getting the burger because they have zero training for cross-contamination. No side dishes available for gf or non-gf people. Left hungry and paid $13 for a bowl of steamed clams. The food we are was very tasty, but disappointing for someone who has celiac and can't have cross contaminated food. Would not recommend for someone with celiac unless you want to leave hungry.
No
Love that the crab fries are gluten free!! Also have a gluten free menu if you ask for it. Got a chicken cheesesteak and it itself is great but weird having it not on a bun and just on a plate..
Fries are good but most other food on gf menu is cross contaminated.
No
I was fed gluten here after ordering off of their GF menu and being very specific with our twit of a server. After I notified her that the boneless wings (which there menu states are all GF) came out and I took a bite, she said "Oh they are new, so our menu is wrong." Not only was every order in our party of 3 screwed up, but we could never find our server to get things fixed. We eventually realized that she kept sitting down in the corner of the restaurant, because we were her only table.
No
They have a gluten free menu and a dedicated fryer. All of their fries and their gluten free fried food goes into the dedicated fryer. I had the crab fries, crab legs and gluten free buffalo wings. It was amazing!!!!
Yes
We had the crabfries and wings. So much food, and it was all amazing!

How can this restaurant say they're offering a separate GF menu and then list burgers as being without the bun -- and sandwiches without the roll?? --seriously, how lazy can you be? it's sooo easy to procure GF buns and rolls -- so why would a place of this size with multiple locations go to the trouble and expense of printing GF menus and then not stock something so simple...? crazy...waste of time. what's the fun of eating crab fries with a burger without a bun -- tough to pick up. waste of a trip and an amateur approach to doing business. it's a pretty far distance from my house, so it's disappointing -- just know this before you go.
No
I ordered take out and told the person the whole order was gluten free. Plus, after ordering each individual item from the gluten-free menu I said "the gluten free version." When I got home they had croutons on the salad and bread in the bag. My daughter's meal was ruined and she had nothing to eat.
No
Staff is amazing and very attentive! I had crab fries and a salad!
Yes
I have Celiac Disease this was my first time eating here. I had buffalo wings and crab fries; delicious! I didn't get sick! I'm so happy, after five years living in Northeast Philadelphia , I can finally eat out! Thank you so much Chickie's and Pete's!!!
I recently called to place an order here but when I asked about a Gluten Free Menu, the person had no idea what I was talking about. I don't know if they have a new manager or not or if they changed their menu. But I no longer recommend this place for those with Celiac Disease. š
Yes
The wings and fries are gluten free! They also have seafood. I've gone here quite a few times and I've never had any problems! Enjoy!
