Salad/bowl place that has gluten free options marked as well as markings for vegan, nuts, and raw for people looking for different things. They were knowledgeable about the food and were able to answer questions - but there is bread everywhere so there is a risk of cross contamination *make sure to mention you don’t want the bread included
The staff were knowledgeable about what was gf and helped walk me through their cross contamination protocol. They also mark it as an allergy in their system and change their gloves. I ended up getting a bowl of soup as it seemed like the least amount of risk and it was really yummy!
Great place for fresh delicious meals and very accommodating. Most of the menu is gf - yay! When my 2 kiddos ordered dinner we didn’t specify their celiac bc everything they ordered was labeled as gf. However, they don’t tell you that they throw a piece of bread on top. Ugh. They were super accommodating and prepared them fresh plates. So - just be sure to tell them about your allergy. Everything was super tasty.
Last night my husband & I stayed over in Beverly Hills. I was hesitant to order as mixed reviews on this app. Their menu looked really good though so, I decided to give them a try & ordered for delivery. The restaurant listed all sorts of allergies (some I didn’t know of) to check off that one’s allergic to. Myself Gluten & Dairy. My husband & I both order meals to share. Both dishes were very good plus it’s the next day & I’m feeling great. I will definitely be going there again.
Don’t go to this place! They have no idea about preparing gluten free food. They put everything including the bread on the same grill next to each other…
The service has been inconsistent in the comments from the Management have changed. There was one woman named Angeline who took amazing care of me and extreme care when I told her I had celiac. However the manager at the time I don’t remember his name was less than kind nor accommodating. I don’t trust the safety enough to return.
Items that *do* contain gluten are marked on menu. Make sure they mark your order "gluten allergy" when they put it in the machine, and you'll be good. I just asked if the fries are considered gluten free, and was told they are but they are fried with other ingredients that contain gluten, so feel assured they know their stuff. I come here often and to other branches and am impressed by the attentiveness to my celiac disease. I did order gf meal once for takeout and it came with bread garnish on it, but I complained and they apologized and remade the whole meal, aware of the contamination issue. But apart from that one time I feel safe here, so long as I state the "allergy" clearly. Reliably good food too. Counter service, not table.
We asked if they had gluten free bread and were told they did not. So we chose items that were marked Gluten Free on the menu. The items were brought to us with bread on top. They kindly offered to remake the meals but we didn’t have time to wait. And at that point I’d lost confidence that they know anything about Gluten sensitivities and avoiding contamination.
This place has the best food and great prices. I was so happy to find a place that offers healthy but really tasty options. They have “plates” where you can pick a protein and two sides- I had the salmon with almond feta spinach salad and roasted potatoes. Good size portions too. We ate here two dinners in a row while on vacation.
I thought this place was safe for celiacs but it is not! Previously I have either told them I have celiac disease or a gluten/wheat-allergy. They even called down the line for everyone to change their gloves. Last time I went though, the chef called me up (after I’d already placed my order) and informed me that all their proteins are grilled on the same grill as their bread. So every protein is cross-contaminated. This is quite unfortunate because their chicken is so good. So celiacs be warned... don’t go here if you want protein!
I was really excited to try this place. However, I never got past the ordering phase. After 3 nebulous and frustrating conversations with the cashier, the chef, and the kitchen manager, it was clear to me that they had no idea what ingredients contain gluten and no idea what was in their food. It was upsetting, and I left so disappointed. I would rate them a zero if I could.
Love it!!!!! GF marked clearly and it is delicious!
Their menu has items with gluten marked and they ask if you want bread. I have other allergies besides gluten, we called before and they were willing to accommodate by making me a separate batch! We never said when we were coming but when we showed up they remembered the call and all my allergies. They marked the order and when we paid they repeated the allergies. They were very kind and considerate!
Love this restaurant. Food is delicious and everyone in my family gets something they really like. When we told the chef my son had celiac he got out all fresh cutting boards to avoid cross contamination. Update: after thinking about it the chef remembered that the steak was grilled on the same grill as the bread. He personally grilled a new piece of steak in a pan to avoid cross contamination.
I've eaten at other Tender Green locations and have yet to get sick so was very excited when this restaurant opened in the South Bay. Fresh food and knowledgeable staff, although not a gluten-free facility, they will help in selecting items on their menu that is gluten free. Delicious!
I was very disappointed in this restaurant today. My husband and I are just beginning our Gluten Free journey and figured this would be a great healthy choice for lunch. They not only didn't have a gluten free menu, but items on the menu were not labeled as such nor were the staff helpful when selecting items that were gluten free. Their response was simply "I think most of it is gluten free". That means nothing to someone that needs a meal that is completely free of gluten. After finally deciding on a chicken dish with mixed vegetables and a side salad and specifically requesting no croutons be added and assured it didn't come with it, when our meals came a large slice of toasted bread was placed on top of our meal. Ugh! You'd think after asking every question under the sun about what would be best to order they would have eliminated the bread knowing our concerns and restrictions. This was our first and last time. Celiacs beware... Best to not take the chance.
Check out their menu online -- they provide full allergen information. I often get the chicken cobb or tuna nicoise salads ... but make sure to ask for no crostini! The default, of course, is to include the bread.
I tried Tender Greens today and was a little nervous because of previous reviews. I must say I'm severe celiac and I had NO ISSUES eating here. The manager was so careful about the cross contamination. When I placed my order he made sure everything was clean and monitored the staff. I will definitely be back
Had the Thai octopus salad with a substitute gf dressing and it was delicious!!!
Tender Greens is not Gluten Free friendly for any one with Celiacs. They are not knowledgeable about gluten free food safety. They cross contaminate all over the place. They cut the meat and chicken same place as they cut bread. They put bread on my salad after I told them I am gluten free and have celiacs. They cook the chicken and meat on same grill as they toast the bread. They are not knowledgeable or careful. The manager just didn't care about being safe. I did get sick here. Will never eat there again. Not Gluten free and should not be advertised as so.
My favorite place in walnut creek
Someone reviewed here and said everything is GF except the sandwiches. Absolutely not true and I didn't find the staff knowledgeable and careful. Ordered a Thai chicken salad. Was originally told everything was fine as long as they took off the fried wontons. Waited 10 minutes and then was told the dressing had soy sauce which wasn't GF. So they picked another dressing that was GF and delivered the salad with wontons. They remade it quickly, but just didn't seem organized around GF eating.
