Our sever Zachary was incredibly helpful. He took my menu and marked what could be done GF and how it would be modified (roasted s fried). Zachary’s knowledge took the worry out of eating out for me and I really appreciate it. The food was delicious and came out timely. Definitely will return.
The server will mark up a menu for you. They will even ask whether you are sensitive to cross contamination and modify depending on that (eliminating things typically cooked on shared surfaces). The server even offered to get chips from bar taco if I wanted that instead of the bread they bring out.
One of my favorite restaurants! Visited during a trip to Yale after I’d just gotten back from Spain and it was phenomenal! The staff was the friendliest and the food was delicious! Definitely a must-visit place! I’m a very sensitive Celiac and didn’t get sick!
Waiter immediately went to talk to the manager, who went to talk the chef, when I mentioned my allergies. They marked up the menu noting everything I could eat and if any modifications were needed and asked about my toleration of cross contamination. When I said I was sensitive they said they could use a separate fryer for some of the items. Food was super delicious (chorizo, octopus especially) and the atmosphere is fun (but loud). Will definitely go back.
They have a lot of gluten-free options, I wish they had more “vegan gluten-free” options. If they did, we would go there more often. The staff is very knowledgeable and courteous. They work with you. Manager and staff are very friendly!
This is my favorite place in New Haven. I am celiac and eat here almost once a week. They mark up a menu for you and understand cross contamination issues. I always feel safe eating here. Tons of options.
Wonderful lunch. Excellent atmosphere, food, and drinks. Staff and chef were very accommodating of dietary needs. Just ask for assistance with the menu and they will take care of you. Best meal I've had in Boston.
Staff was extremely accommodating. The manager marked up a copy of the daily menu to indicate gluten free options. She was careful to exclude the items made using a shared fryer. Fantastic accommodations and the food was great too.
They have a GF fryer. Since it’s tapas and we (party of 4) order a ton of food I was hoping that when each dish was brought out, the runner would announce if it was GF or not but that didn’t happen. They brought out the mussels with slices of bread right on top. The manager then came over and was very apologetic. I do wish the entire operation had better communication practices. Food was delish as always.

Staff was very knowledgeable about gluten free (marked up the menu for me) however there were not many options. Could only have meat/cheese, salad, and tapas that were not cooked. Was looking for something more filling, very unfortunate
No separate gluten free menu, but our server made a point of immediately asking about any allergies or food sensitivities, and when I mentioned gluten he immediately suggested certain items on the menu and said he'd reiterate with the kitchen. Very pleased!
One of the best GF options around. They are very careful with allergic guests and sometimes have a manager oversee the order. They offer GF bread which is pretty good and have a knowledgable staff with extensive menu. Some of the best GF tapas are hangar steak, potato tortilla, fish a la plancha, garlic shrimp, cauliflower and chorizo w/figs. They do an excellent brunch as well, def try the GF fried egg sandwich.
Great food! Very knowledgeable staff. They highlighted a menu with gluten free options - there were many! Rare to find gluten free charcuterie. They offered a separate plate of olive oil for the gluten free bread. All in all a great experience.
Very knowledgeable staff. No dedicated GF menu, but they will mark the menu up for you. They understand celiac and swap out pans to avoid cross contamination. We eat there often and have never gotten sick. Delicious and safe!
Our waitress was very knowledgeable about what menu items were already gluten free and where in the kitchen they were made to avoid cross-contamination. The food was delicious, and the gluten free bread was amazing.
Great stuff. Full restaurant on a Wednesday night, so I sat at the bar. The bartenders asked the chef to mark up a menu with GF options, and there were at least a dozen tapas, a few salads, and more. Great service and delicious food.
I can't assess all locations of this restaurant chain but the one in Fairfield CT has plentiful gluten free options, particularly the tapas. The wait staff is generally (though not always)knowledgeable about celiac and make great suggestions as to appropriate choices. When they aren't helpful, the manager is easily summoned and accommodating. The food is good and there's great variety.
I became a Barcelona regular after attending my company holiday party here in 2013. Since then, I've been here easily 20 times over the past year, and have never once had an issue with GF. The majority of the items on the menu are naturally gluten free, and the ones that aren't do not pose an issue for cross contamination. The staff is generally speaking very knowledgeable about the menu, and if the waitperson does not know, they ALWAYS have asked the chef. GF considerations aside, the food and service are consistently excellent here, and while there is always a core set of staples on the menu, every week there are new specials and creations, none of which have ever disappointed. Can't recommend Barcelona enough.
