Didn't have as many choices for fresh ice creams... attempted to serve me some of the ice cream from case because it was gluten free but it was sitting right next to cake batter ice cream (not gluten free), with some of that ice cream spilled in it! Yikes!! Employee was SO confused about a gluten allergy.... much better experience at town center.
The staff are more than willing to scoop your ice cream from a new container in the back. Just make sure the flavor is gluten free. I have them put the toppings on top of the ice cream instead of mixing it on the stone. I've never had a problem!
when i ask them to make it seperatly they are very good at it. when i take a chance and let them make it on the same counter i get affected. they don't have a good list of whats safe and whats not. but their web site is easy to read and figure out quickly what i can have.
FINALLY! Someone who gets "allergy" (or in my case cross-contamination from gluten from celiac). Not sure if I lucked out when I went but the guy seemed pretty attuned to keeping ice cream safe for me, including putting on gloves; opening up a new container from the back just for me; adding mix-ins from unopened container in back; and mixing in its own container. Then covered and out in a bag separate from my daughters cross-contaminated ice cream. GREAT job! Wish more places "got" it like this one!
I went in asked for the gluten free options. They have a list that tells you what has gluten. I had the cotton candy and strawberry. They also got my icecream from the back and mixed it in the back to ensure it was safe! They were very accommodating and aware of how serious a gluten allergy is!
Not only did the guy working there know exactly what celiac was, he also knew exactly what to do. He checked in the back to see if there was an unopened container of ice cream first, but when there wasn't, he asked if I was OK with what was already out, which was almost full. He used a clean scoop and skimmed off a large layer before scooping and put my ice cream directly into a cup instead of onto the slab. It was really good ice cream, too!
staff aware of gluten allergies. will help you determine which flavors of ice cream are safe. will wash hands scoops and use a clean cold tray on marble slab(you may need to prompt them) to prepare your ice cream. Be aware that small bits of toppings or another flavor of ice cream occasionally may drop into the ice cream cooler. So keep an eye out.
I'm a recently diagnosed Celiac, and still pretty nervous about eating anything not prepared at home, but my daughter really wanted to stop for ice cream. I had read that Coldstone was very responsive to Gluten Free needs so I gave it a try. All I had to do was mention that I needed to be Gluten Free and all 3 if the gals behind the counter offered to go in the back and get a fresh tub of the ice cream I wanted and got a fresh package of chocolate shavings too for my milkshake! They also grabbed clean spoons and a clean blender! Oh, and NO "Glutenation"! Happy Summer! 😎
