I usually get a small chocolate shake when bringing the kids here but recently noticed that the vanilla and caramel shakes were advertised as gluten free. I got a caramel shake and that evening had stomach and digestive upset that kept me up all night. I know artificial vanilla contains gluten which is why I always order chocolate. Not sure this was the cause but be cautious
Definitely would not recommend anyone with an allergy or celiac go here. I talked to them about allergy and they said they would clean off the machine and they said they had it all handled. Then half way through my ice cream I found multiple pieces of cookie dough. By far the worst reaction I’ve had in 12 years of being gluten free.
Came here all the time before my allergy, but was hesitant to continue. I now come regularly, getting a sundae with peanut butter cups. When you inform staff of your allergy, they will clean the ice cream machine, and grab fresh toppings from the back. I now feel totally safe here!
According to the website: Gluten is in many DQ products and cross contact may easily occur during product preparation. For those with gluten sensitivity, we recommend trying one of our manufactured novelties: Dilly Bars, Buster Bar Treats, Fudge Bars, Vanilla Orange Bars, or Starkiss® Bars, which can be found in clear, sealed plastic wrappers. These products are made without wheat, rye, oats, or barley in a facility that has limited cross contact risk. This does not include Dilly Bars or Buster Bar Treats in paper bags, which are made on the store premises and are subject to potential cross contact.
They now carry a Non-Dairy Dilly Bar that is gluten free and vegan. Made with coconut cream. It was yummy! But most importantly, I enjoyed it and I did not not get sick.
I am celiac and allergic to dairy.
It is handed to you in the original wrapping. They also sell them by the box in their take out freezers.
While on a long road trip, I stopped to get my kids some DQ. I couldn’t count how many protein bars I’d had in 5 days. I asked if they possibly had anything GF besides ice cream. They immediately said, we can do any burger without a bun. I said yes, but I have celiac and have to be careful with cross contamination. The great guy on the grill said no problem, he cleaned the grill, washed his hands, put on gloves, and made a tray separate for me so nothing would touch my food. They also handed me an allergy menu to keep. The staff made me feel completely safe, I could’ve cried I was so happy to eat ‘real’ fast food.
The worker that waited on my family was very helpful. She had a "cheat sheet" she made stuck to the register with all gluten free items. She also supplied us with a brochure with all the food allergies listed and showed me where to find the gluten free items in the brochure. As of 6/21/2023 they have a 100 sanitation grade as well which makes me feel even better.
Manager had no idea they have an allergen menu (online) and cell service is iffy to access yourself on site.
Snickers and turtle pecan cluster blizzards are listed as wheat free.
Banana and chocolate and peanut butter and strawberry and vanilla shake listed wheat free.
Smoothies and julius.
Site says to be sure order a plastic wrapped item
Called to see if they did gluten free ice cream cakes. Got a rude answer and the website in general says that gluten free cakes can be had at Dairy Queen. Not in Marietta GA. I called three stores and all of them said "We don't do that." Then quit advertising that you do! I won't even go here for ice cream any more, or take my grandkids that can eat gluten.
We came in to ask about GF options. The manager/owner (who is almost always there when we are) came over to check the ingredient list with us and shared a list of their GF products. The girl behind the counter also assured my daughter it was no problem to take the time to check because they’d rather she take the time and ask so she can get a treat she likes. We asked about blizzards and they told us they have a separate machine they use for people with allergies and will be careful of cross contamination, and we should just let them know when we come. Over all a great experience and we could tell they cared and took the time to reassure my celiac daughter.
Was so unsure about ordering ice cream, but I told the girl at the register that my daughter has Celiac and she immediately said, "No problem. We can wash hands and clean everything. I got you!" Was very impressed as I watched her prepare a dish of soft serve like it was a gourmet meal. She even warned me about taking a spoon since they aren't individually wrapped. No reaction, just a happy girl!
We got a wonderful gluten free ice cream cake here for our daughter’s birthday. The owner made the cake herself and while it’s not a GF facility she said she cleaned all equipment and made the cake first thing when they opened, before making anything else. She also called corporate to make sure ingredients were GF (she knew from experience they were, but wanted to be extra careful). The cake, which was mostly ice cream, was beautiful and delicious.
Great experience! Sam walked me through all my options and ensured me the fries were cooked in a dedicated frier. Also explained that the rotisserie chicken nuggets were safe. Also many of the dips and dressings were labeled gluten free. Sam was a former Disney chef so he gets it!
The new Dairy Queen is so knowledgeable about gluten. I got some fries and they were super careful about cross contamination. They are in a separate fryer and don’t contain any gluten ingredients. The dilly bars and several other ice cream treats are gluten free. Very happy with their customer service!!!
I have never had a problem with their blizzards using a gluten-free mix-in like Reece’s peanut butter cups. The staff at this location was definitely incompetent (didn’t know how to use the cash register and took more than 30 min to make 5 blizzards) and knew nothing about celiac or gluten, but they did change their gloves and cleaned the blender machine for me before using it on my dessert. Check the menu online for allergy info. For the poor service the manager did refund our money.
You can order certain Blizzards and shakes and ask them to clean the mixer beforehand. I don't get sick!
Has good salads and dressings that are gluten free. The DQ soft serve is GF. Most dessert items are GF except for those with cookie dough, cookie pieces or brownies
This location did a great job with providing me gluten free - Instead of a blizzard, I got the toppings layered in with ice cream to avoid cross contamination. She even grabbed brand new toppings to avoid any risk of cross contamination. I felt safe here and they did an amazing job.
