The staff knew about celiacs and was able to communicate what was okay to eat and what was not. If you have celiacs I would recommend calling not ordering online.
I have had Grotto pizza at other locations so I stopped here on a road trip. They had no idea whether the pizza was cooked in a separate pan and then, after I asked the server to find out, they said they were out of GF. Another pizza place in the same complex could accommodate.
Best gluten free pizza anywhere! And they have separate prep area and cutters. I feel very comfortable eating here!
I never leave negative reviews but this is the worst gluten free pizza I’ve had in the 10 years of being Celiac. Spongy texture and not good at all. Also, I’m not feeling super confident that they prevent cross contamination and also really expensive! $20 for a medium pizza.
Our Celiac daughter really enjoyed the gluten free pizza. We spoke wth the manager when we walked in and explained that our daughter is very sensitive to cross-contamination. The staff took extra precautions and made sure the pizza was safe. It was delicious as well!
Gluten free crust has a nice "crunch," and this last visit my mom and I had them do the "Margarita" pizza on the gf crust which was amazing! The regular cheese blend is something I miss, but it's just too much on my stomach which isn't 100% okay with lactose either. The fresh mozzarella on the margarita pizza was fine though and the tomatoes, basil and other toppings were so good! Will be ordering this gluten free version again!
Unfortunately non-compliant. Pizza is baked on same conveyor as regular pizza, therefore is contaminated.
Really impressive allergen list for all top 8 allergens (plus gluten) in all ingredients. Gluten-free pizza was one of the best crusts I've had. Decent thickness, perfect crispness, not at all soggy, good flavor. Would definitely go back. They have dedicated pizza cutters for gluten-free pizzas. Only topping you can't have is the meatballs which have flour in them.
*gluten sensitivity rating* I have been going to grotto for 3 years now. past two I enjoyed the pizza as a wonderful alternative and my family can enjoy the regular. they changed their frozen dough for a new one this year and it is GROSS. I also did have Tummy issues afterwards, but not too severe. there aren't many pizza choices in town, and this is the bottom of the list.
If you have any gluten problem whatsoever do not get the gluten free pizza here. The pizza is worse than cafeteria pizza. Spent half of my beach day in the bathroom. The kids who work there do not follow any kind of gf rules. No dedicated ovens or counters. Just a box marked GF.
If you want go pizza, do not tell them you have celiac disease. They refused to serve us because they were afraid we would sue them if we got sick. We asked the waitress and it seems they take all necessary precautions, we said we will order, and then the manager came out and told us we will not be served because we had celiac.
The college students bar behavior and volumous beef consumption that saturates the carpets, game surfaces and elsewhere make this an awful place for a celiac, let alone children. They are not well trained to prepare w/o cc and frank about it.
Crab soup is safe for celiac folks. It is amazing. Also the antipasto salad is a good GF choice. Got the GF pizza with pepperoni mushrooms and cheese. Everyone is eager to please. I really like this place. Have had no adverse reactions to the above items.
GF crust had the not so great GF taste but texture was decent. Only availble ib 9". Avg toppings, love mushrooms but theirs were obviously canned. If youre dying for a pizza go here but if you want a good pie go elsewhere.
They offer gluten free pizza crust but they have no clue what else including toppings are gluten free. Highly doubt the workers handle the crust properly. If you have a gluten allergy, I'd skip this place until they figure it out.
Pizza is good but not gluten compliant as of last visit 8/28/15. I inquired and GF pizza is made in the same area and same oven as the regular pizza. Didn't get sick but people with more sensitive gluten allergies probably would. Too bad because the GF pizza is actually pretty good.
Only had GF pizza and salads but delish!
I got the pepperoni 9in GF pizza and loved it. It was the perfect size and felt fine afterwards. Definitely recommend this place. This place is everywhere! It's like the Starbucks of this area, so you'll find one on almost every corner.
