Definitely better places around here if you're looking for just a restaurant. The upstairs restaurant has chicken meatballs and veggie balls that are gluten free. Fries are cooked in a separate fryer with separate oil but cross-contamination is still possible. Some items that seem like they would be gluten free (i.e. brown rice blend) are not, make sure to check
My family and I went to IKEA for breakfast. I asked if a specific item (the sausage) contained wheat. The worker looked up the ingredients (which I appreciate!) and confirmed that it did. I then asked if they could substitute the sausage with bacon in their breakfast meal. They would not. I then asked the manager... She would not accommodate my food allergy either. I left without getting anything to eat. This is the ONLY place I've run into this kind of ridiculous unwillingness to accommodate a gluten issue.
I couldn't believe that I could eat here without just getting salmon, but I could! The vegetarian meatballs are gluten free themselves, and if you talk to the servers they'll make sure you avoid anything problematic. Nice to know the next time I need to go pick up some random unassembled furniture that I won't need to bring a snack with me.
It was a nice surprise to be able to eat with my family at the Ikea cafe. I had some decent vegetarian meatballs and a really nice dessert torte. I will be sure to stop in on our next shopping trip!
Their salad bar and occasional soups are gluten free. They also offer additional gf salad options from time to time. BUT bring your own dressing. Note: They have a binder in their office they can pull out to show allergen info for any other entrée, however don't hold your breath you'll find anything other than soup or salad. I had 3 different employees give me conflicting info on their salmon platter (salmon, veggies and potato medallions). I trusted the final employee who told me it was gluten free (it wasn't listed in the binder). I had a really bad reaction that night and the day after that couldn't have been anything else I'd eaten (prepared all other meals myself that day and the day before). Summary: look at the binder or the of list they have on their website with nutritional info of the common menu items.
