I called first and spoke to the manager about their procedures for GF prep and baking of pizzas. She was knowledgeable and answered in detail about the separate food cart for safe toppings, separate oven for GF pizzas only, and what pizzas and toppings could be done celiac-safely. Dough for both kinds of pizza are not made in house, and they are rolled out with corn meal. My daughter enjoyed her pizza and felt well afterward. We will return here.

Pretty sure my waitress was new because she got very flustered once I mentioned the words celiac and gluten haha. Luckily the manager was nearby and stopped over to assure me he’d take care of everything. Pizza was okay, nothing special to be honest, basically a glorified frozen gluten free pizza, but it was nice to be able to eat out with my wife and not get sick.

Expensive, but man this is a great pizza. House pizza is loaded with two layers of cheese and a layer of toppings. The GF crust is thin, delicious and not dry/crumbly. Absolutely worth it!

I was skeptical about ordering gf pizza in fear of cross contamination. Our waitress explained that they have a gf station, they wash their hands before going to the gf station, change Apron, then prepare the pizza wearing gloves. She assured me how serious they take this. So, I tried the gf pizza they have a gf section on the menu. If you order the selected gf options you will be safe. It was a good pizza, I didn't have issues. The crust was hard like a cracker but, it had good flavor. I would go back again.

Went because I heard their gluten free pizza was great! Trusted the waiter when I specified it was a gluten allergy. Unfortunately it had to have been crossed contaminated since I got horribly sick like 20 minutes later. Worst gluten exposure I’ve had in ages š¢

Three of us have celiac and enjoyed two of their pizzas. The waiter was knowledgeable and indicated they have a separate prep area as well as toppings that are separate. He did indicate that they go through the same oven but they use specific trays to avoid contamination. None of us got sick and would go back.

I have gotten sick from their pizza. it tasted great tho just wish it was properly made. Rule of thumb just stay away from pizza places altogether if you are a sensitive celiac <3

I am having to revise my rating. I got sick here. I spoke to our GF community and lots of people are getting sick here. I spoke to the owner who said they take it seriously and would address it but the GF community that got sick said they were told the same thing. Just beware if you are a celiac.

Horribly sick. Even questioned the waiter and he reassured me salad with little brown crumbs was safe. Manager came over to 100% reassure me as well. Said it was the end of their pecans. They ran out. So I ate the dang spinach salad and some of my GF pizza. Left to go see the baby lambs in colonial Williamsburg and was racing to find a bathroom. Headache and blisters came next. Up all night at the hotel. Stay away.

By the time we got home daughter had vomiting and diarrhea won’t be eating here again
Waitress was aware of the needs regarding Celiac and confirmed any information she was not sure of with our questions. My daughter said it was her favorite pizza crust she’s had since her diagnosis a year ago - that says a lot given she has grown up in the northeast surrounded by pizzerias! Build-your-own pizzas allowed her to have exactly what she wanted.

Fantastic pizza chain, the restaurant took care of me so well and they have the best knowledge on not only just coeliac but all allergies & dietary needs. The kitchen at the back has all GF items separated & their menu specifically mentions avoidance on all cross contamination.
It may be a little overpriced but for a coeliac to be able to eat out and enjoy a meal, this is a great place.

Best Mellow we’ve ever been to. My daughter has celiac and a rice allergy. Our waitress was extremely helpful. (Can’t say they will all be as helpful). Our waitress wasn’t sure about a few items so she asked the kitchen staff, and even went so far as to check the ingredients in the balsamic vinegar. Much to everyone’s surprise, it contained rice.
Food was better than any other Mellow we’ve been to. I would feel comfortable coming back.

Can order any of their speciality pizzas on a 10” gluten-free crust. So delicious and honestly couldn’t even tell the crust was gluten-free (aside from the fact that it was thinner than my boyfriend’s regular pizza crust). They also have a gluten-free brownie on the menu!

Ordered pizza over phone. Was informed that all GF pizzas are prepared in separate kitchen space with a dedicated gf oven. They warned me that if I ordered a pizza not on the gf menu that they could not guarantee no cc. I got one of the gf offerings and it was great. While the crust was nothing special, the toppings were delicious and I did not get sick. Would recommend.

We went to this place reading other reviews but had an average experience. Tables were dirty with gluten all over them. When we asked the waitress to clean, she barely did. The GF pizza was okay- nothing out of the ordinary. The manager did say that they have a separate Gf Prep area, this was the only saving grace! Won’t be returning.
Pizza GF was amazing .. service was excellent also.. try it u will not be disappointed

My partner (celiac) was unable to eat anything here because upon observation he noticed (and I agree) that the kitchen did not have a true dedicated gluten free area. The throwing of the pizzas and reusing of the wooden pizza spatulas was causing regular flour to go everywhere. We were with a group of others that were not celiac. My partner talked to the manager and said “upon observing your practices, I do not feel safe eating here. Please take my pizza off the order.” The manager refused saying that gloves would be switched and all precautions would be taken. My partner said “I understand but I am very celiac and will be sick for a week with even a little cross contamination. Please do not make my order.” The manager refused and said they were making the order anyway and that they would take precautions. Order is made and I and my partner have observed all of the practices that can cause cross contamination, so he does not eat it. At the end, we ask to not pay for his pizza. Manager comes over and says “so you don’t want this?” And takes the pizza away. Everyone else is getting boxes for their food and other people would have eaten his order, but that’s neither here nor there. NOT CELIAC FRIENDLY and rude. All of the people that could eat gluten enjoyed their food. Consideration was sub par though.

Great to find a place that does GF pizza right! GF pizza options are clearly explained on the menu. I also talked to the staff and was told that they have a separate prep area, use separate ingredients, pans, kitchen utensils, etc. and change out their gloves when handling GF pizza, so I felt very safe eating here. I ordered the Kosmic Karma pizza, would recommend!

I ordered a hamburger with several mentions of no bun, can't have gluten. My well done burger came out on a bun. 10 minutes later I was assured that they started over from fresh and cooked a well done burger in less than 10 minutes. My digestive tract assured me they lied and glutened me.
After speaking with the owner I have 100% confidence in food safety at this location!
