Great chain restaurant!! They have a separate GF menu, but will also work with you to make other items GF if they are able. A manager came out to talk to me before anything was made and they modified a sauce for me on the meal I chose. Food was excellent!! I asked for rare steak, it came out too rare, but they ended up making me a whole new plate. It was perfect the second time. And the baked potatoes are huge!! My hubby is not GF so he had more options than me, but it was one of his favorite places we ate that week.
Waiter offered Gluten Free Menu Manager will come to speak to you to ask a few questions
Staff knew what celiac was and had the manager come and explain how they can accommodate. Basically you can have proteins and vegetables (no gluten free bread or pasta). They can bake everything in the oven so you don’t use shared fryers. I had the salmon burger (lettuce wrap no bun) and they gave my roasted carrots instead of fries! A bit pricey but it was really good and I didn’t get sick!
Their gluten free menu is limited and while I was bummed to not have any Cajun spices (gluten free seafood items are served “naked”) it was still really delicious! You can choose between brown butter or lemon butter. My server asked if it was an allergy and told me he’d speak with the kitchen, chef and bar to ensure everything I ordered was safe. I even added lump Dungeness crab. I’d definitely come here again! I’ll add pics of the menu.
The best GF option at this airport. While the menu is not marked the staff is knowledgeable and as soon as you say you have a gluten allergy, the manager comes out and walks through each component to ensure that you can eat it and also makes sure to tell you that it’s shared surfaces and fryer. Grilled salmon and shrimp is my go to but the salmon burger no bun is also a good choice. The manager did highlight that the spicy mayo may not be GF so subbed that with mustard.
My waiter said she knew what CD is and when asked to explain, she did not know. After giving her a hard time she called the Manager and she was very helpful and knowledgeable!!! I kept it simple had salmon on spinach. Highly condimenten and not too many options. Keep in mind that is pricey, but very nice for seat down meal.
I had the bartender as my server, who isn’t as knowledgeable on the GF food options (understandably!) so she brought over a manager to take my order. The manager did a great job of making sure everything was safe for me. You can get green beans, spinach or asparagus as your side dish. I ended up getting a salmon “burger” with bacon and chipotle mayo on top. I could also have gotten grilled shrimp. Does not seem like they have any good vegetarian options, but nowhere in the Texas airport seemed to!
Had a long layover at the Dallas airport and decided to try Pappadeaux #42 (at Terminal C, near gate 14). I asked the ladies at the hostess stand if they had a GF menu and she advised - No; however, the kitchen can accommodate. The server was very helpful; however, had a different story. They have no GF on the menu and the kitchen does not have a GF fryer or dedicated GF cooking space. Almost all items on the menu cannot be made GF - and I stress, cannot. However, I was able to enjoy grilled salmon with shrimp and a scallop. The server assured me this was prepared GF (and confirmed with the manager who also checked with me). No issues from the food and it was very good. Disappointed that they have very minimal GF options - with nothing GF listed on the menu. If going, ask the server to make sure they confirm with the manager.
They took my gluten allergy seriously. They don’t specifically identify gluten free items on the menu. The waitress said many dishes could be adjusted. In these situations I keep it simple and just got salmon and green beans. The manager came over to discuss what I ordered and understand my food allergy. The double check made me feel comfortable. She mentioned they would need to bake the salmon in the oven versus grilling it. Safety is my top priority so that’s ok with me. Food was very good. Nice to find safe options in an airport.
They have a separate menu but it is very limited. I asked server why grouper wasn't on the GF menu and kitchen manager said it was dredged in flour, but he was very accommodating and offered to cook it on a clean grill instead without the flour. Came with baked carrots, pistachios, shrimp and lump crab meat. Added a side of plain white rice and everything was delicious, even the creme brulee for dessert.
It was a terrible experience unfortunately. When we sat down I asked for the gluten free menu and let the waitress know of my intolerance/allergy. She assured me they would be cautious in the kitchen and sent the manager over to assure us we’d be well taken care of. After ordering they brought out my food with the fish I asked for but with the dirty rice. The dirty rice is not what I ordered nor was it even on the gluten free menu. The manager came over and I explained to him how my plate was mistaken and he then said “so you want broccoli not the rice” and I told him that it’s not the mistake of the order it’s the fact that it’s clearly not gluten free. They then sent my new plate 25 mins later which I understand maybe they were understaffed but when someone comes with an allergy I thought it would’ve been a priority and I would expect the manager to be informed with this kind of thing.
They just have a small gluten free menu, but it was delicious. The manager came by to ask about my allergy and confirmed that my order was gluten free. I don’t know about cross-contamination since I’m not celiac, but I was very pleasantly surprised by how seriously they seemed to take allergies.
One of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had! Upon arriving, I was excited that they had a gluten free menu -seemed promising. Although it was limited to mostly salads and steaks, which is fine. I told the waiter I had celiac and ordered the caesar salad with grilled chicken as an appetizer and a steak and baked potato for my entree. The manager came out shortly after to ask about my allergy which I appreciated. She informed me that their grill top is cross-contaminated with gluten and offered to bake my steak instead and give me the salad without chicken. Again, super appreciative of how knowledgeable she was. *This is when it got terrible* The waiter, knowing that I have celiac, put the giant loaf of bread in front of me when there were 6 other people at the table. Okay, not a big deal. Then the salad came out WITH the chicken I was just told I could not eat. The waiter goes back to get me a new salad. The second salad comes out with giant CROUTONS! I again, had to bring the waiter over and tell him. No apologies were given, just an eye roll and took it back. The manager brought out yet another salad and said “third times a charm” and laughed. I’m trying to be nice about it all but I get severely sick with any cross contamination and so it’s not really a joking matter to me.
The waiter was very rude, literally tossing things onto our table and did not seem to care about my allergy request at all. I did not feel comfortable eating here based on getting a SALAD wrong three times. This place was not worth it to me.
I’m in town for business and dead tired after a long day, so my coworker and I wanted to find somewhere close to eat. I figured worst case I could order a salad at Pappadeaux, but when I saw down the waiter asked if there were any allergies he should be aware of. He provided me with a pretty short list, but had a couple steaks, a few fish options, and salads. He also noted that because everything is scratch-made, there were a lot of substitutions possible, so the available GF options would be much more extensive. I ordered the naked trout blackened with brown butter. 1- it was huge! 2- it was delicious! To add to it, the place seems to run like a well-oiled machine, despite many large group tables (10+). They also gave us free dessert (crème brûlée) because we told them we had never been there before. 10/10 would recommend!
They have a separate GF menu, but it’s very limited. Salads, steaks, and three fish dishes without sauces.
When I described my issue with gluten they had the manager talk to me to get a full understanding and how to accommodate. My steak was made in an oven dish rather than a shared grill to avoid cross contamination.
Steak and baked potato were both very good.
The waiter offered crème brûlée as a GF dessert but when it was delivered to the table, it had a wafer in the top as a garnish. When I asked about it the dessert was quickly whisked away and remade without the wafer.
I ordered the naked fish from the GF menu along with the house salad. I am not celiac but did not get sick. The server was receptive and confirmed the dressing was gluten free.
We stopped in for dinner on Friday between flights. Our server was fairly knowledgeable about what was and wasn’t safe, but still sent over there for manager to chat with me. She checked with the kitchen manager that what I was thinking about ordering (shrimp cocktail, green beans, and white rice) would be safe, then returned with their suggestion of off-menu baked shrimp with the white rice and green beans instead. The food was fine, somewhat overcooked, but I didn’t have any reaction afterward and honestly was really grateful to get a solid meal instead of just snacks I’d packed, especially as our flight out of DFW was delayed by about 4 hours.
Server was helpful and informed the manager who asked a few questions and helped modify a menu item. Made me feel safe, fish was cooked in separate pan and baked with green beans. Very good food.
AMAZING service and food!!! I ordered the Chopped Salad with Salmon and OMG best salad I’ve ever had!! Everything tasted so fresh!!! It’sa pretty big salad though, so come hungry!!
The manager came over to ask about my allergy and I felt confident knowing I was being well taken care if of.
Great experience. Probably one of the few places a celiac could eat in the airport. Even though I am not celiac, since I mentioned “no gluten” the manager came over and double-checked everything before the order went into the kitchen. Had a delicious chopped salad with salmon!
Restaurant has an immediate GF protocol once you ask for GF menu. Server stated manager would be right over and would follow order to completion to ensure remained safe, and did. Order the house salad with Greek vinaigrette, naked salmon with lemon butter sauce and broccolini. Would recommend to anyone even if not on GF diet. Daughter who is not on GF diet dined with me, server had no intention of bringing bread until we asked for it/gave the ok.
Limited choices, very expensive, but food is delicious! Definitely wave the gluten-free flag in the waitstaff’s face! I ordered my food off the gluten-free menu, but did not say “I am gluten-free”, so my salad came with croutons?! I figured the menu sitting in front of me would be clear enough, but apparently you have to be more specific.
Was delayed so we stopped by here to eat based on the reviews here. I'm glad we did! Our portions were huge! My salmon was baked and the crawfish were prepared of too. Very helpful and polite waiter. The manager came out to confirm my meal selections. I highly recommend eating here!
I've dined here a few times and always had good experiences. The waiters have the manager go over your order to be sure everything ordered can be prepared gluten-free. Great, right? I think someone failed to go over the precautions with the people in the kitchen because half way through my salad I bit into a crouton! It seems as if someone in the kitchen said "Ooops - this isn't supposed to have wheat" and then picked the croutons off and missed one instead of just throwing it out and starting over. I was sick for a week and now I'm afraid to eat there again.
Asked if they had a gluten-free menu or gluten-free options on the menu. Was told flatly, no.
Being a patron prior to my gluten allergy this restaurant was a favorite. However this visit I was very nervous about ordering even though I called ahead and spoke to management upon arriving. The GF menu was extremely limited, the taste of the naked Atlantic Salmon (cooked perfectly though!!) was beyond bland, disappointing and my meal was missing an item. Most importantly service was poor and lacking in ever area from arriving to departing, however I didn’t get sick! Covid-19 has had a negative effect on this chain, hopefully they can improve. My husband’s non GF food was a 10 for him!
I've been to free-standing Pappadeaux restaurants and LOVED their food, so I was excited to see one in the airport. However, the waiter told me almost nothing on the menu was gluten free, including soups, salads, and the dishes I normally get at this chain. I commented the regular restaurants must adjust their cooking methods to make the dishes gluten free, and the waiter said no, the issue must be that I'm not really sensetive to gluten. As I have Celiac disease and am VERY sensetive to gluten, that was insulting. I ended up leaving without getting anything.
Awesome atmosphere, fabulous good, wonderful (and knowledgeable!) waiter! As a celiac, I know my options are limited and safety is sometimes a risky bet but between the Find Me gluten free app, the info and reviews I found there, and the great restaurant staff; I had an enjoyable layover and a marvelous meal ☺
They have a GF menu with many options. I let the hostess and server know about my celiac, and the manager approached to our table after we had ordered our mains. She asked whether my food could have contact with same surface where other stuff is cooked or not, etc. (I found it really considerate). Although the GF menu has a little disclaimer about cross contamination, I ordered a shrimp salad and didn't feel sick afterwards. My order took a hit longer than the rest, they apologized for it so OK.
Staff was very knowledgeable about GF menu options and food was really good.
Had a gluten free menu readily available.
They have a gluten free menu and prepare the food in a dedicated space. The manager took time to come over to review the order and ask if I would like my steak baked, since it would be grilled on the same surface as gluten-containing items. I really appreciated them taking the steps to confirm that everything was prepared safely.
When I asked detailed questions before getting seated, the hostess brought a manager out who was awesome. She went through all the details about the precautions they take and made me feel very secure that I would be safe there. Sure enough, I had no reactions after I ate there. They do have a limited GF menu (with a lot of salads), But our server said that they could modify some stuff outside of that menu, too. I stuck to a shrimp salad, though, and it was delicious.
Located in the southwest terminal, it has a nice atmosphere and specific gluten free menu, which unfortunately is so rare in airports. The manager came out after I had put my order in and just wanted to let me know that they were going to double check that all surfaces would be cleaned and that no cross contamination would happen. Such a good feeling, that management and the wait staff really cared and made it their priority!
I eat here several times a month. The shrimp cocktail, also crab and avocado cocktail and cobb salad are really good. I get the ribeye with baked potato and broccolini. If really sensitive they will do ribeye in a pan. It tastes better off the grill which they clean for me. Ask to speak to manager to be sure order is made gf.
This restaurant is mostly seafood, so the menu looks small and limited. It does have 5 to 6 options for salads, salmon, steak, lobster, and crab. I personally would not eat the crab meat due to imitation crab meat containing gluten.
Food is tasty, service is great. Having an option to eat at an airport is great.
Ate at Pappadeauxs and was so pleased. They have a separate gluten free menu and I told the waiter it was due to celiac. He acted like it was not a big deal, which initially surprised me. I ordered the half chicken breast with broccolini and mashed potatoes. It came with a wooden food tag that said 'prepared gluten free'. It was absolutely delicious. There was something one the menu for everyone: chicken, steak, fish, oysters, sides. They do not have a fryer. I will be back when I visit Dallas again!
Very limited selection from dedicated menu. Food was expensive but very good. I expected much more from a seafood place! Need to rethink some of their menu to make GF...just some easy changes, nothing complicated and they could easily add another half dozen or more items.
Fantastic! They have a very nice GF menu with a disclaimer about cross contamination, but many of the GF menu options are logically created to avoid it. I enjoyed the the Jumbo Shrimp and Lump Crab appetizer wirh my niece, then had the Caribbean Lobster Tail, that came with mashed potatoes and broccoli that had red pepper flakes. Excellent meal, and experienced no issues, and I'm a Celiac. The restaurant is quite large, there may be some wait, but it will be worth it.
While the food was okay I wouldn't return for several reasons. The service was horrible, the offerings of gluten free options were extremely limited, the cleanliness was questionable, and the ambiance and environment left a lot to be desired. It was so loud we had to shout to hear each other and the tables were so small we could barely fit our food and drinks. I would not recommend for a celiac due to the tight quarters of everything and lack of proper cleaning. My glass of wine was so filthy that I sent it back without touching it.
I had the redfish with shrimp and crab in a Leon butter sauce, sub the risotto for white rice. Staff was knowledgeable and happy to ask the kitchen for more info about modifying regular menu items, management makes it a point to come ask you whether or not your reaction is from ingestion only or cross contamination as well. Their gluten free menu actually also has quite a few options, not a skimpy few items.
Do yourself a favor and don't go here. First, their GF selection really isn't that great. Second, it's clear that the servers aren't well trained on the GF options. When I pointed out that my dish was wrong, our server insisted that a manager would come speak to me, which never happened. I was also told my dish would be re made but I was brought the same steak with different sides. Very disappointed.
Has a GF menu. Everything is so good.
A limited GF menu; however, the food tasted good and the wait staff communicated well with the kitchen area. Upbeat atmosphere.
I've eaten here a few times and haven't gotten sick. The staff are knowledgable and accommodating. The menu is limited, but safe.
Pappadeaux gets five stars just for the effort of the manager to start. We came to celebrate a birthday and they went the extra mile. The manager offered to make my catfish with cornmeal instead of flour. They even started a different work station and fryer for my gluten free needs. The management even allowed me to bring in my own gluten free bread to enjoy with my fondeaux!
