Most things here are gluten free except for the sauces and some of the nut toppings. They mark which sauces are GF and not. It's very hard to get anything cross contaminated. Staff are not too knowledgeable, but you can build your bowl yourself and watch them make it so you can pretty much direct it to ensure there is no cross contamination.
Owner was very knowledgable about items. He even called corporate to figure out why their seaweed wraps aren't considered gf (manufacturer won't guarantee it) and helped me navigate the menu. Took my allergy seriously. Great food. Will 100% return next time I'm in town.
On both occasions, the staff (different both times) knew what celiac disease was, communicated down the line to change gloves and how to handle my items, and took their time! The first time, the staff person took time to explain the menu and let me taste test the gluten free sauce options. I love sushi so this has been the closest thing to tasting similar without having to switch out the rice to brown rice! I got the poke bowl with sushi rice, ahi tuna, mango, cucumber, cilantro, green onions and sriracha aioli sauce! SO GOOD!
I have to demote to four stars because when they first opened, one of their "signature bowls" was mislabeled as GF and I ate it several times before realizing that it was the culprit making me feel sick! When I messaged them, though, the issue was fixed super fast on their website - like in 15 min. BUT besides that incident, I love this place and I eat here all the time. Now that I stopped eating the mislabeled dish, I never have a reaction here. Since most of the "signature bowls" have gluten, you're better off doing a build your own! Three sauces are gluten free and most of the toppings are too (minus the crunchy toppings).
They were really care and wanted to make my food turn out good. I have celiac disease and they really helped out. They are new, but they knew what they were doing. They were patient with my needs and were able to answer all my questions. Plus the food is delicious!!! If you are looking for a fast good Hawaii- American meal this is the place to be
I explained to the staff that I had a "gluten allergy" and they were kind. I had to ask each staff member down the line individually to change their gloves, but they were knowledgeable about which items contained soy sauce and which didn't, and each item had its own scoop/spoon. There are two different GF sauces to choose from.
Recently opened and clearly stated on the menu which items and sauces are gluten free or vegan. You can still enjoy poke even when gluten free! Just avoid the shoyu sauce and imitation crab mix. The classic sauce and aoili sauces are fair game! Delicious!
A very sweet worker told me that the fish itself is not gluten free....she asked the managers and chefs. Do not eat here if you’re celiac. It explains why I got sick after eating here even though I was told it was celiac friendly.
Good food and staff was accommodating to all my repeated questions. Everyone changed gloves when I said I had a gluten allergy (actually have celiac but easier to explain as an allergy). Same experience as the other review in terms of what I could and couldn’t have. Only things with gluten seemed to be Spicey salmon, a few of the dressings and the ‘crunchy’ toppings
Most of the items to put in your poke bowl are GF including all proteins and three of the sauces. Be careful with the crunchy toppings which are mostly not GF friendly. Staff are super nice and remade my bowl when I accidentally put gluten in it!
Server told me they have allergen list cheat sheets for the people behind the counter. She told me all proteins are gluten free as well as most toppings. She did suggest staying away from crunchy toppings due to cross contamination but said the nori is gluten free. They have three sauces that are gluten free as well! Everything was yummy and fresh tasting.
