This place should be closed because of the poor quality of food. They have a separate GF menu but as others have pointed out the safety aspect is not very clear. I had the cilantro lime bowl with chicken. I had stomach ache most of the night. I would say avoid this place. Not sure about other Rubios but the “fresh mahi mahi” tacos that my wife got were anything but fresh.

I had the blackened Mahi Mahi with crema sauce and salsa verde on corn tortillas. It was good and I did not have any reactions that I’m aware of. The strawberry hibiscus lemonade was very good as well! Looking forward to trying some of the Alaskan fish next time! Thank you, Rubios! I wish all these places would make it more obvious by noting gf items on their menu, but I’ll take what I can get looking it up on google.

Have a gluten free menu however watched kitchen staff prepare food without any regard to cross contamination. Not for those with allergy.

Good fast food place to eat at! I got the Mexican street corn bowl with chicken and it was great! Chipotle sauce was gluten free and chips are corn. Lots of options that can be modified to be gf.

They person taking my order didn’t have much knowledge about gluten free but would make sure the cook was aware. I had a mango salad as thought it would be fairly safe. I ended up with a reaction.

I order the chopped salad with no tortilla strips all the time and have never had an issue

I’ve never had an issue from this location, even taking a risk and placing a mobile order. I order items that naturally come gluten free and should not come in contact with any other items unless there is cross contamination by gloves/utensils and even then I have not had any issues here. I’ve had a reaction from another location before when I had mobile ordered, so I will likely go back to ordering in person at all locations to be safe.

Shift leader was stoned and knew absolutely nothing about gluten and made zero attempt to help problem solve to help avoid cross contamination (such as using foil on the grill for the corn tortillas.) I’ve been to other locations with much more knowledgeable staff. This is not one of them. Eat at your own risk.

They had very unique gluten-free choices & enjoyed my taco plate totally.
Most recent visit the guy kept telling me flour tortillas are gluten free lol. The menu has tacos listed as gluten-free.. he would not listen to me that flour tortillas were not gluten-free

According to the website they have a “gluten friendly” menu. I stopped by today and the staff said, “the only GF items we have are the pre-packaged desserts.” I’m not sure why the advertise GF…very disappointing!

Big disappointment! You know it’s bad when your non-GF spouse suggests you eat somewhere else! I asked about GF options and the guy at the register was lost. I suggested that he ask the person preparing the food who was also lost. I overheard him asking the manager in Spanish and she was also lost. None of the staff had a clue what gluten was much less how to avoid it. Glad I asked rather than ending up sick for 3 days. This is one Palm Springs restaurant I won’t be visiting again while I’m here!

My go to fast food in San Diego! Almost all the tacos are made with corn tortillas. I go for the street tacos and ask for no cheese on the beans, and then it's totally dairy free too. I know the chips are made in a shared fryer, so avoid if you are sensitive.

The food is quite good, but I ate here so many times thinking it was Celiac safe because of their allergen menu... When I got sick the third time I should've freaking realized, but it took a cashier finally saying "you know this isn't Celiac safe, flour tortillas have been ALL over the grill" for me to realize it was definitely gluten. I know, dumb on my part, it was just the only place around for me so I ignored the truth.

On the rubios website it is VERY helpful at finding lots of food options you can eat on whatever dietary needs you have.
I really loved using the Rubios website to find my meal. It took in account my dietary allergies and caloric needs and found me the perfect meal for what I needed.

Definitely ask if you want them to change gloves or utensils. 4/5 times they did without me asking! I eat there a lot and have never been sick. They have a dedicated page on the online menu for gluten free items!
Tons of options, fresh and delicious. Much better than chipotle.

Nachos were good with the chicken
This location is not celiac friendly. The staff seemed unsure about precautions needed to accommodate someone with celiac. I decided to try it anyway after asking them to change gloves and clean the workspace. Big mistake. Definitely got glutened. Do not eat here if you have celiac.

Ate at Rubios in Oro Valley . Best shrimp tacos ! Must try if celiac .
NOT CELIAC FRIENDLY - SAFETY ISSUES
It's 11:10 of Saturday November 23, 2019. I just finished a long conversation with the customer service representative of Rubio's and they confirmed that they don't provide any gluten free finished dishes.
Cross contamination can't be avoided caused the way they manage food and cook food. In particular: RICE is FRIED in the same FRIER of the battered fish. It is absolutely a dangerous process as it contaminate a food that is gluten free and ADD gluten to it.
Don't trust managers that will confirm you they will do the best do avoid cross contamination, it is beyond what really they can do.
