Rubies cannot be trusted! Every time I’ve eaten at any Rubios, I’ve been glutened.

According to the website they have a “gluten friendly” menu. I stopped by today and the staff said, “the only GF items we have are the pre-packaged desserts.” I’m not sure why the advertise GF…very disappointing!

Big disappointment! You know it’s bad when your non-GF spouse suggests you eat somewhere else! I asked about GF options and the guy at the register was lost. I suggested that he ask the person preparing the food who was also lost. I overheard him asking the manager in Spanish and she was also lost. None of the staff had a clue what gluten was much less how to avoid it. Glad I asked rather than ending up sick for 3 days. This is one Palm Springs restaurant I won’t be visiting again while I’m here!

Ample gluten free options. The bowls were delicious. They use corn tortillas for many of the taco selections. Everything was fresh and tasty!

My go to fast food in San Diego! Almost all the tacos are made with corn tortillas. I go for the street tacos and ask for no cheese on the beans, and then it's totally dairy free too. I know the chips are made in a shared fryer, so avoid if you are sensitive.

I absolutely love rubios. I normally get the loaded nachos.

The food is quite good, but I ate here so many times thinking it was Celiac safe because of their allergen menu... When I got sick the third time I should've freaking realized, but it took a cashier finally saying "you know this isn't Celiac safe, flour tortillas have been ALL over the grill" for me to realize it was definitely gluten. I know, dumb on my part, it was just the only place around for me so I ignored the truth.

On the rubios website it is VERY helpful at finding lots of food options you can eat on whatever dietary needs you have.
I really loved using the Rubios website to find my meal. It took in account my dietary allergies and caloric needs and found me the perfect meal for what I needed.

Definitely ask if you want them to change gloves or utensils. 4/5 times they did without me asking! I eat there a lot and have never been sick. They have a dedicated page on the online menu for gluten free items!
Tons of options, fresh and delicious. Much better than chipotle.

Nachos were good with the chicken
This location is not celiac friendly. The staff seemed unsure about precautions needed to accommodate someone with celiac. I decided to try it anyway after asking them to change gloves and clean the workspace. Big mistake. Definitely got glutened. Do not eat here if you have celiac.

Ate at Rubios in Oro Valley . Best shrimp tacos ! Must try if celiac .
NOT CELIAC FRIENDLY - SAFETY ISSUES
It's 11:10 of Saturday November 23, 2019. I just finished a long conversation with the customer service representative of Rubio's and they confirmed that they don't provide any gluten free finished dishes.
Cross contamination can't be avoided caused the way they manage food and cook food. In particular: RICE is FRIED in the same FRIER of the battered fish. It is absolutely a dangerous process as it contaminate a food that is gluten free and ADD gluten to it.
Don't trust managers that will confirm you they will do the best do avoid cross contamination, it is beyond what really they can do.

Tried it for lunch. As soon as we walked in, we saw a woman cleaning tables and just asked her really quick about gluten free options I explained about cc. She stopped what she was doing to take my order (she said she would do it so I wouldn’t have explain it again) she looked everything up and followed my whole order thru! Food was amazing! I’m bummed I didn’t get her name but she was awesome! Best fast food experience I’ve had since I was diagnosed.

I live with in a mile of This Rubio’s. They have corn tortillas tacos both meat and fish. I bought a large cup of rice and a cup of beans and 2 corn tortillas. My husband was having lunch at a bagel place and so I ordered takeout. I loved my lunch so glad I found this place. Very tasty!
I've had mixed experiences here. I would stick to the bowls as others have suggested.
Your best bet is a bowl. That has the lowest risk for cross contamination. I would still be careful
Good food. Cashier had to ask his coworker my questions which I appreciate. I did not get sick👍

Very good! They have an allergen menu you can ask to look at. Some staff is more knowledgeable than others on gluten free items and substitutions.
the guy was a little confused on the phone when i asked about gluten free options but as soon as i said celiac disease he knew what to do! he got me an allergen menu to look at and made it in a clean area. it did take longer to make because he wanted to make sure there was no cross contamination but i did not mind that at all! definitely recommend this place
Yes
Most of their menu items are likely gluten free. I’m was ok ordering tacos, but I’m not that sensitive. Staff is not knowledgeable about gluten.
I was assured my fish taco was gluten free. The shell was corn so it was gluten free. After we were on our way to the airport I opened my taco and took a bite. It had battered fish in it not the grilled! Either the cashier or cook know what gluten free is. Double check this place! I had a light reaction.
Lady at the counter was well educated in what was gluten free and safe. Great shrimp and grilled fish tacos (on corn tortillas)
Yes
Not knowledgeable but I ordered anyway and asked to change gloves. Although the first person said they did change their gloves, the bowl kept getting pushed down the line by people going straight from flour. Then the fish was added and touched by a guy who just made a burrito. After watching for a few minutes, there’s no way there’s no cross contamination. Got a refund.
No
I eat at Rubios for years and don’t get sick. Usually the two taco plate that already made with corn tortillas.
We were greeted by a gentleman who said " I don't know anything about gluten free."
