In an attempt to to save money in California and not spend $8 for each loaf of bread. I bought a bread machine. I’m wondering if anyone has found a fantastic gf bread flour that they can recommend. I need something that could give us bread for less than what we are currently spending. We are a family of 6 and I buy 4 loaves of bread every week for lunches and 1 dinner.
Everblack45 The best gf flour for baking that I’ve ever used is gfJules. Hands down, no contest. I use her recipe for rolls and bread and I will never use another flour. I buy it by the case for the best price. It’s so good I made room in our budget to keep it in stock in the house. No other flour I’ve tried comes close. I’ve been GF for nearly 15 years and tried everything. You can use it cup for cup in non-gluten recipes, and every recipe I’ve made from the gfJules site has been amazing. My non-gf friends and family ASK for my gf baking.😂 There’s an option on the gfJules website to try the flour, you can buy a “sample bag” to see what you think of it. I did that and was so blown by the result I’ve been a loyal customer since. I feel like this flour gave me quality of life back. 😆🖤 1 reply
jackie193799 The best bread floor is Steve’s gluten free bread flour. It makes the best cinnamon rolls too. authenticfoods.com 1 reply
ellabee Check out the loopy whisk she uses a mix of physillium, buckwheat, brown rice, and corn starch
Marie BREAD machine IMO I bought the bread machine some years ago however, the calculation for making my own wasn’t worth it $10 a loaf ingredients- plus mess & electricity = 540 g Steve’s GF Flour Blend $8 3 TBSp Sugar 5 TBSP Butter 50 cent 7’1 Packet Yeast $1 3/4 Cup milk $1
kylie33676 I use this bread machine recipe and it’s great. Custom make your flour as suggested here https://www.fearlessdining.com/gluten-free-bread-machine-bread/
TravelGlutenFree You can also buy bulk gf bread at Costco and freeze it long term
TravelGlutenFree Or you can also use wraps instead of bread
ruthimon King Arthur is hands down the BEST gf flour. Their AP flour is both gluten and wheat free. The bread flour is gf but does contain wheat. 4 replies
r97267 I use the bread flour from glutenfreeonashoestring.com It’s high in protein (unflavoured whey) and make’s delicious bread. You’d probably have to order Expandex online.
JenBiren I feel ya- and that is a ton of bread! I find the gf flours don’t save me much $ using the bread machine. Over the years I have greatly reduced my use of anything bread-like. We don’t really make sandwiches in our house anymore- just sometimes. For kids, we got thermos’s and sent them with hot food from home. Otherwise, I hope you find a good flour- if so, please post about it! 1 reply
ruthimon King Arthur’s is good as long as you aren’t sensitive to wheat
RTJSMommy Thank everyone for input, I really appreciate it. I tried a few different flours and found that Pamela’s bread mix is a good one. All I need to add is water, egg, and yeast. It is a sweeter bread though.
