Hi all me and my wife are driving route 66 next year from Chicago to Santa Monica any tips or recommendations would be highly appreciated
ansley Fun! Definitely good to make a list of restaurants in the towns you’ll be staying in, to have a map of dependable chains handy, and very importantly, to bring a cooler so you can always make a sandwich. In both Iowa and South Dakota, my partner and I couldn’t find any Celiac-safe options near our motels — there were nearly no restaurants at all, or they were closed for the season. The ability to make a sandwich was huge. Oh, and if you get the chance to eat at a great restaurant where you can order a salad, definitely get the salad. You’ll feel better when you’re eating a pb&j later that night. 2 replies

catatude You HAVE to go to modern bread and bagel in Santa Monica. Truly the best gf bagels you will ever have. They also have every pasty / sweet you can think of. 100% gluten free! 1 reply
