Upcoming family trip to Washington D.C. with our 9 yo Celiac daughter. Any recommendations for kid-friendly GF restaurants??
maryob1 Busboys and Poets has a kids menu and a dedicated fryer. Cava, BIBIBOP, and District Taco are local fast casual that do GF well. And, you can get a GF lobster roll and chips at Luke’s lobster.
misformeal Rise bakery!!
jcallen195560 GCDC - a grilled cheese restaurant - is a great place for kids and adults. It’s a block from the White House and has indoor and outdoor dining, with heaters and blankets when it’s cold. Be sure to let your server know your daughter has an allergy, and whatever precautions she may need. Management is very helpful! Almost all items can be adapted. Enjoy your trip!!
susan46338 Second the rec for Busboys and Poets! There is also a burger place called Hip City Veg that had gluten free stuff and was good!
alena2876 I’ve heard amazing things about a few places in Baltimore if you’ll be near there… Miss Shirley’s is one and Sweet27, Gangster Vegan Organics, and Harmony Bakery are all dedicated GF.
Tracy84 I agree with all the above. Of course, Hard Rock Cafe in metro center has gf options. Probably need a reservation but if your daughter likes rock/pop music, it might be fun!
kristin130021 We just went to Dc with our kids over Christmas. My two boys and I have celiac and get sick if we eat it so we’re good test cases. Il Canale in Georgetown in DC had amazing GF pizza! You won’t believe it’s gluten free. There was also a great taco place and bakery we found near adams Morgan. I’ll look them up for you.
kristin130021 Taqueria Al Lado for tacos and Mexican. Dedicated GF. My son loved the fish tacos but be careful with the beef and pork ones… if you have a picky eater they are more authentic / marbly. And Rise bakery around the corner for dessert.
SaraG Love Rise Bakery!
