Abel's Ice Cream

Absolutely fabulous! Currently have 2 flavors that are gluten, dairy and soy free ice cream. Has a coconut base without coconut flavor. Just had mint chip which was absolutely delicious. Was willing to open a new container so there was no cross contamination. What fabulous service.

My mom is celiac. We saw the good reviews on here. Unfortunately, when we went there and asked which ice creams were gluten free, we found out them at none of them truly are. The employee lifted out one of the tubs, and the label said that the ice cream is made in a facility that also contains wheat. He said all of the ice cream comes from the same place. Due to this, there is a cross-contamination concern, so my mom did not feel comfortable getting ice cream from here.

Awesome experience! One of the best places we’ve gone! Very knowledgeable about celiac and cross contamination, opened a new container with a clean scoop, gluten free cones better than the regular ones. One of the safest places I’ve felt letting our daughter with celiac have food.

This place was incredibly accommodating. The gentleman working went in the back to clean the scoop and opened up a new tub of ice cream after I told him I was Celiac. They have many GF flavors, GF cones available, and will either open a new tub of ice cream OR scrape down an open tub to reduce cross contamination. I was very pleased with my experience.

When we went they were out of gluten free cones, but they do normally have them. I asked about a couple of flavors and whether they were gluten free, but the girl helping us didn’t really know. I had the snickers ice cream and it was delicious. I didn’t have a reaction but it was a hope and a prayer based on her knowledge.

Amazing gf and Df options with gf cones. They washed a scooper and opened a new container after confirming what exactly my daughter’s allergy was. They even labeled the container ‘gluten allergy’ Would highly recommend

Staff very knowledgeable about GF options. Offer GF ice cream cones! Staff offered to clean the scoop and even open a fresh ice cream tub for me to avoid cross contamination!

They have gluten free ice cream cones and were very knowledgeable about gluten. I met the owner the 1st time we were there and he checked the ice cream flavors we wanted to be sure they did not have any gluten in them. I was surprised that we had so many choices, most were gluten free except the ones made with cookies, brownies etc. Best ice cream place we’ve been to in Sarasota area so far! Plus they are right next door to GF Bakery!
