All the waitresess here were uneducated about allergies. The menu doesn't mean you are getting anything prepared to your allergy as they do not have a designated cooking station to prepare GF food. Your food may not contain gluten but will be cross-contaminated. I spoke to the manager then the general manager to advise of my husband and sons high sensitivity to gluten and his response was their grill is at a high temperature, it would burn away the allergy. My response to him was, that's not how gluten works. Heat doesn't burn it away. Applebee's does not have a designated cooking station, is un-educated in the products they serve for allergy sensitivities and there is a good chance you will get sick.
Applebee does not have a gluten free menu. I called before going to this location to confirm a gluten free menu. I was told they have a gluten free menu. Once I arrived there was no gluten free menu. I was offered the ingredient book and hardly any irems marked gluten free. I watched my daughter eat, while I ate nothing.
They don't offer many gluten free options in there menu. Don't trust the Applebee's restaurant chain allergen list at this location. They use the same fryer for everything. So the fries and nachos are not gluten free. The service is also slow. The waiter didn't check on us much, didn't ask if we wanted Deseret, and didn't have check books for your receipt. Don't go here!
This restaurant does not offer a gluten free menu, therefore you have to search their Allergen list for your meal. I ordered the Fiesta Lime Chicken, which their allergen menu claims is wheat-free. We also ordered chips and salsa. This was put in as a Car side to go order. So we picked it up and left before looking at what they gave us. BIG MISTAKE. First, I had ordered chips and salsa and they gave us chips and spinach and artichoke dip, which is NOT gluten free. Second, our food was cold. Third, they did not give us silverware. And to top in all off, even after specifying I have a gluten allergy, apparently they we're not careful and I ended up having a reaction. I do not recommend eating here. Maybe things would have been different if we had eaten in the restaurant. But I won't be chancing it!
They can't guarantee safety with cross contamination. However the manager did say that chicken is cooked on a separate part of the grill. She also said she would open a new butter for a baked potato. Potatoes only are cooked in the steamer. My son still did not feel safe eating here & chose not to.
I would not recommend this place to anyone with any food allergy. Everything about the interaction raised red flags. Poor training. Poor service. Poor understanding of allergens. The only thing that was rehearsed by the staff was a limitation of liability statement where they tell you basically no precautions can be taken. It would be best if they just put the sign up that says we won't accommodate patrons with food allergies. Honestly that would be the real truth in advertising.
Great service, but they can't guarantee gf. that said, there are a few offerings that can help you avoid wheat. according to menu, house chips, fries AND sweet potato fries don't have wheat or gluten. some good for you stuff too. I'm not celiac, can't speak to that.
Waitress didn't know if they had a gluten free menu. She checked and came back with a binder. French fries were listed as being gluten free. I asked if they had a dedicated fryer. She checked with the manager and said NO they use the same fryer to cook wings and a number of other items. I ordered just chips and salsa because they are not very knowledgable
I was given a gluten free menu but when inquiring further about how certain items were prepared, many of those items were obviously contaminated enough to make someone with celiac quite sick. Be careful here. I let them know about it but I haven't been back to see if they do anything differently now.
Food is really good. Just tell the waiter you have celiac and she will bring you the allergy free menu
We went for dinner.... we were desapointed. although the server,Russ was great and helpfull, it is clear that this chain has not much idea about Gluten allergy.... their menu was difficult to read.... and many items even considered gluten free were not realy gluten free
They will print out an incomplete, somewhat hard to follow allergen listing menu for you. I wanted cole slaw, it wasn't on there and their packages didn't contain the ingredient list. I ended up having the ribs and rice. It was not only delicious but I haven't had any problems.
Scary! Opened silverware, BIG bread crumb on fork. When ordering, specified "gluten allergy" & server said "so u want us to go easy on everything?" Really. Talked to manager abt apparent ignorance, crumb on fork & stuff floating in my water. They brought another glass w matter floating in it. Poorly managed, untaught staff & less than ideal conditions. Worst restaurant in the 2 yrs since being diagnosed w CD. Too early to tell if they glutened me but need I say more?
