Several items to choose from. Be sure to tell your sever!
Waite staff were very helpful. Came in & asked for GF menu, received it right away. I had Blackened Talipia w/o the blackening. It comes w/seasonal veggies & fried red potatoes. All very good. They have vanilla ice cream too. Try it if you ever get to West Memphis, AR.
Celiacs avoid ALL Applebees. Their nationwide website promotes their gluten-free options, but one location's failure disqualifies all locations. If we were not with people we had invited (here due to their website info), we would have left when the hostess said they did not have gluten free-my wife insisted they did and they did find and allergen list, but cross contamination had its worst effect on my wife that she has experienced in months.
Good gf menu
Applebee's does have a limited gluten free menu on their website, but their offerings are pretty disappointing. I went there for drinks and appetizers (not a meal, so can't comment on whether the GF meals are good) and couldn't get anything to eat because they don't have a separate fryer. No appetizers are safe, not even the chips and queso (because the chips are fried). I don't get the impression that they are allergy-friendly, especially because they list chips and queso and fries on their GF menu...but since these items are fried in a shared fryer, they aren't safe for anyone with more than a mild intolerance. I'd be hesitant to eat any of the food here.
Great GF menu....
Had the Margarita chicken minus the queso. Waiter was very knowledgeable. He explained that there are different allergy buttons he has to press when submitting an order and that the food is prepared with extra precaution. It was all very good! No gluten reaction.
I had one of my best experience at this restaurant. I had the gluten free Margarita queso chicken & shrimp and that dish hit the spot. and the service was vary attentive. my only complaint was that my mango tea wasn't up to my southern standards. :D I recommend this when ever your in the area.
It was an awful experience!!!! The manager and waitress were extremely rude very uneducated on the needs of a person with a gluten allergy and I left hysterically crying! They had a "gluten free menu" but when I asked questions the manager pointed things out on said menu and said the spices they use have gluten in them ... THEN WHY ARE THEY ON A GLUTEN FREE MENU!!! it was the worst experience ever and was even harder considering it was my first experience dining out after being given the news about my new allergy. I highly recommend NOT going to Applebee's on Arsenal street I will MEVER EVER go back
Waitstaff was not extremely knowledgable in gf, but very friendly and willing to accommodate. Apologized because the side normally served with my chosen meal is not gf and cheerfully substituted with one I could have. Gf menu/allergen list had several options. (List is available online, but they will print one off for you so you can be sure it's the most recent one). Kitchen staff and managers are very careful when any allergy order comes in. Food was good as always. 06/15/14 ETA: I ate here the other night and the server seemed very aware of gf and it was no problem at all. Excellent service and food.
After cautiously ordering with the very nice staff, we got our salads. My teenage daughter who has celiac got glutened with the first bite. A hidden crouton at the bottom of the plate. The manager apologized and they remade her salad but the damage was done. Avoid!
Best gluten free bun I've ever had. It wasn't heavy like most gluten free breads. Fries are fried is same fryer as other foods so you may want to avoid. Sever was very helpful and kitchen delivered my food by itself which was nice since it didn't sit somewhere that was in contact with Other products.
Update: I was sick as a dog the next day. Turns out the kitchen has no concept of avoiding cross-contamination. STAY FAR AWAY. They have many GF choices on the menu. The food was fast, tasty, generous and decent quality. I had the chips & queso, side salad (no croutons, separate prep), ribeye steak and baked potato. No problems at all. The only negative is that not all front staff is trained. The hostess told me they did not have a GF menu, but the bartender showed it to me, suggested ideas, and made sure the kitchen had correct instructions. I'd go back there.
