Acqua at Peck Slip

Nice night in NYC, last for this trip, quick meal and time to walk and enjoy the weather....

Well not after eating here, walked to restaurant, sat outside and ordered a bottle of wine, told server “I am celiac, need meal to be gluten free.”

When placing order “would like the caprese salad, octopus, and the seafood pasta dish, all gluten free.”

Bread was brought to table and I asked not once but twice of server if the bread was “gluten free” and again stated I was celiac and needed “all to be gluten free.”

Ate some bread... chewy like most gluten free bread... ate the salad and the octopus. Stomach a little queasy but chalked it up to not eating since breakfast.

Pasta comes out and I as the runner if this was the gluten free... nope. Server came to apologize that she put it in wrong. Now I am worried... “Is this bread gluten free???” Oh no it is our bread and not..... WTF!!!! Took my emergency Imodium and stood up to put jacket on... asked for rest of wine to go and the pasta ASAP. COULDN’T do my full reviews unless I tried the pasta.

About 1 min later I am running to the bathroom.... yep F’d by another restaurant who doesn’t train servers and staff correctly. So now I sit in my room... all the issues with celiac going full blast!

WISH I COULD GIVE THIS PLACE A ZERO OR LOWER!!!!!!!!

One of my favorite places in NY for atmosphere. Staff was helpful with GF options, double checking with chef. Best caprese salad I've had. So glad I can still enjoy since diagnosed celiac.

I ordered online and asked for gf pasta... They called me to advise the sauce I chose was not gf and talked to me about what I could have instead. Very impressed they took the time to check!

Gluten free knowledge is really good. They have Pene GF and Pizza GF the pasta is really good texture wise and flavorful. Nice find!

The gluten free is not obvious from the menu, but tell the staff and they will work for you. They used GF pasta and the kitchen adapted a dish for me. Were very friendly and helpful.

And the food was lovely!

Yes

Don't have a specific gluten free menu or facility but for gluten intolerants with other food allergies they were very helpful and accommodating. Fantastic tuna steak!
