Amazing food. Had Gf Wiener schnitzel with mashed potatoes. Thanks to other reviews (ripped potatoes are technically gf but might end up in the fryer), we did mashed potatoes on this and also for the sausage dish. They were happy to sub them.
The gf white alps cake was also delicious.
Waitress was knowledgeable about what isn’t gf (any of the sauces for the schnitzel other than the spicy or cranberry sauce; goulash, etc) and what is (gf schnitzel, kabobs, sausages, etc).
Tip: do make reservations. We showed up at 5:02 and they seated us without reservations but they were full up and not able to seat walk ins by the time we left around 6!
Outdoor seating is lovely and they have built in overhead heaters.

They do have a GF free menu and the waitress was able to point out the safest items on the menu. I made my order confident I would be OK.
I ordered the regular Schnitzel with “crispy” potatoes. The waitress recommended them. The potatoes were delish, but I realized that they were “deep fryer” crunchy, not just roasted. I hadn’t asked about a separate fryer as the waitress had seemed pretty knowledgeable and I felt she would be aware of the issue of CC . I thought she would have steered me away from the potatoes if there was a issue.
I began to lose confidence, however, when she suggested I try a piece of my husbands goulash meat (which was swimming in spaetzle).
I didn’t finish my potatoes . . . And reminded myself to always ask all the questions when ordering.
Some slight GI issues the next couple of days

They have gluten-free items listed on their menu. The waitress was very helpful. I ended up ordering the goulash and pesto chicken pizza and both were fantastic. No reaction to cross-contamination and I am a celiac.

Cozy restaurant on the way back from hikes in Joshua Tree. GF schnitzel was really good, but make sure you tell them you have an allergy and request they make it in the pan not the fryer. Fryer is cross contaminated. Some menu items like the sausage platter are labeled GF but the potatoes are fried in the fryer. Great tasting food, just make sure you scrutinize and ask questions if you’re celiac.

I had a wonderful experience! The server was very knowledgeable, there were many GF options, and my meal was absolutely delicious. Options include GF schnitzel, pizza, sauerkraut, red cabbage, potatoes, and even dessert! I had the schnitzel, and my German partner was blown away by how authentic it was. Highly recommended!
