The reviews on here are from a few years ago, when I first went here. I do OK with cross-contamination and loved the selection of sandwiches. Back then, they told me they could use GF bread on any sandwich I wanted, so I had the Jalapeno Popper sandwich and loved it. Had no issues.

Yesterday we tried to eat at their second location at Broadway and Battery (doesn't show up on the map), and was told that only the Mousetrap (a plain grilled cheese sandwich) could be prepared with GF bread, but that we could add other items. I wanted the Jalapeno Popper (Local chèvre, Monterey jack, apricot-jalapeño relish) on GF bread. The cook and the cashier kept telling me I could only order the Mousetrap and add extra items. We walked out because we didn't feel they were listening to us, or explaining what they could do clearly enough and how much it would cost.

It might be that The Mousetrap (Tillamook cheddar, creamy havarti, Monterey jack) is made in a Celiac-friendly way on a separate grill. Perhaps they did answer criticisms of the past? I suggest you look at the menu and call ahead for clarification. I was really frustrated and that they had all these intriguing sandwiches on their menu, but said only the Mousetrap could be prepared gf. Whatever. We ended up walking to Fisherman's Wharf for a touristy Crab Louie Salad.

I never feel good after eating here, the gluten free bread does not make for a decent grilled cheese sandwich very greasy. I suspect cross contamination occurs here.

Owner is a celiac yet the staff is unsure about cross contamination. Great sandwich if you go when the owner is cooking.
