This is worth noting for any hermits who want to dine in the comfort of their own home. I've ordered from Asian Outpost several times (and everything's generally pretty tasty for their having a pan-Asian menu), but this was a bit of a bummer.

Friday night, I was looking to get some takeout for my sister and BIL (who has celiac) who were visiting from Cincinnati before we hit the town for the evening. I was feeling pretty sanguine about our chances, given the good reviews, and we put in an order for pad thai using their online ordering system, taking additional care to note on the item and on the order that the dish was intended for someone with celiac and asking them to be careful.

Unluckily for him (or half-luckily for him and the rest of us), his half-hour waiting period had elapsed as soon as we'd pulled out of our parking garage and he bailed to take care of business, never to return. The rest of our party would go on to complete an escape room, and he was fortunate enough to escape the bathroom and pass out on the bed for the rest of the night. My sister and husband stopped razzing me about trying to kill him after an incident-free brunch the next morning, but I'm still feeling guilty.

Hate to give this a complete thumbs-down for celiac-friendly, but so it goes. You're probably in good hands when having dinner on-site, but I would proceed with caution where it comes to delivery and pick-up orders. Or at least try to phone them in, since I couldn't say that the order notes get read.

Celiac friendly?
