Arlene’s Always Always Always had the most delicious and safely prepared GF food. They took on new ownership this season and after going back today, I can say it is NOT the same. It will be our last visit, sadly. We had 3 GF people in our party. They were Lacking knowledge in GF, food was bland, pancakes were raw , eggs Benedict were overcooked, and I was in the bathroom before I even left. My sister barely made it home. It’s a shame. Arlene’s was a real gem for the GF community.

Arlene’s has the most extensive Gluten Free menu of any restaurant I have ever eaten in. My breakfast was absolutely delicious. This is a GREAT restaurant for all people with gluten intolerance!

We ended up at Arlenes after starting at Jon and Patty’s. When they told us they make their gluten free pancakes on the same grill as everything else, we knew we couldn’t eat there. They directed us to Arlenes which has a separate gluten free menu and staff is very knowledgeable about celiac. Apparently someone in their family has disease. Everything was wonderful, lots of options

This place is a find!!! The gluten free menu is wonderful! Entirely safe place to eat. The staff is lovely! I had crab spinach and provolone cheese omelet. Their homemade gluten free bread and hash browns. I had a taste of banana nut French toast with fresh bananas yummy!
Yes
Arlene and her kids have Celiac disease so they know the struggle! They have an entire gluten free menu! I got the French toast and poached eggs made with the bread of the day (which is baked fresh by Alene!) and it was fantastic!
Cute little place with lots of GF options. All the years spent in OC NJ, we have never been to this restaurant (before knowing about Celiac). We will definitely go back.
Yes
Had nice GF breakfast which included large omelette, toast and potatoes. Nice little place with friendly service. Would go again if in the area.
Yes
While the food is not the best, the owner's kid has celiac so they do understand and offer proper options prepared independently. They are also open year round but only for breakfast and lunch. But in a town without many options, it's an oasis

Came here because of all of the reviews! I ordered an omelet due to some of the reviews saying cross contamination was an issue with the French toast. My father, who also has celiac, ordered the cinnamon raisin French toast and he was fine afterwards with no reaction. Arlene’s has an extensive gluten free menu! Will come here again if we have the chance!
Yes
Huge gluten free menu including pancakes, French toast, and bagels. Had the best fruit pancakes that I’ve had in years. Will be back!
Yes
Amazing amount of options for breakfast! I had the Eggs Benedict Florentine and it was delicious. It wasn’t really on a gf muffin, it was just gf toast but it was still great and I would order it again. Quick and kind service and a very clean place!
Yes
Got gf French toast today. Immediately felt sick. They must use the same bowl for regular French toast. I’ve had the gf pancakes before w no problem but they’re usually over mixed so they’re tough thought I’d try the French toast. Bad idea.
No
Very celiac friendly. Owner said she had celiac (along with a few close family members) so they understand GF and cross contamination. A lot of great GF choices. Food was great!!
Yes
One of our go to for lunch and breakfast, have been going here for 4 years Omelettes, burgers, chicken sandwiches....very knowledgeable.

I can’t explain how awesome it is to find a restaurant for breakfast that is so knowledgeable and caring regarding gluten free options and celiac friendly! The staff is excellent and very knowledgeable, the owner is very friendly and cares about her customers.
The breakfast is fantastic, very few places have GF toast and I got eggs over easy!!! I usually have to have an omelette so to limit the cross contamination issue, but not at Arlene’s! My wife ordered the cinnamon French toast( not GF) and she said it was amazing! So we have a new favorite place to go, can’t wait to go back for lunch!!!
Thanks,
Jim W.

Got the gluten free crunchy French toast and bacon and immediately got sick. Definitely not celiac friendly. Lots of gluten free options but I’m guessing it was the cross contamination that got me.

Had the French toast with almonds and banana made by Arlene and it was great. Returned later in the week and had the Caesar wrap both great

GF menu on website, don’t know if they have physical copies in store. Wait staff up to speed on GF orders & heard them called back to the kitchen explicitly as GF. No reaction to their GF pancakes (assume shared griddle however). Second time eating here & good experiences both times.
Consistently great food, nice sidewalk seating, most of all, never gotten cross contaminated. I try to stop in every time I’m in the area.
They have a whole gf menu. And their cream of chipped beef is better then normal chipped beef! We’ve gone here twice so far in 4 days ha and I’m sure we will be going once more before we leave to go home.
Arlene’s is my go to restaurant for breakfast and lunch. They have an extensive gf menu, separate toaster, and understand the needs of their celiac patrons. I had the crunchy French toast with fruit this morning and it was delicious!
Yes
Rare combination of a traditional diner setting and being very knowledgeable about GF!! Separate GF menu including sausages, french toast and pancakes. The blueberry french toast was more of a cake than bread, but still delicious!!

My son is an extremely sensitive celiac and we have eaten here at least a dozen times with zero issues! They have their own (large) gluten free menu and everything is delicious! It’s my sons favorite OC restaurant by far! Thank you Arlene’s!
They have a gluten free menu and dedicated cooking space. My husband has celiac. This place is a rare treat for us. We love the cheesesteak omelette and the crunchy french toast!
Came here twice today. For breakfast had a tasty egg and sausage omelette. Came back for lunch and they accommodated me with a gf and df grilled chicken wrap. Very friendly and understanding staff. Will definitely be back :)

Owner’ son has celiac. Fairly large gf menu. Knowledgeable. I have celiac. Not only could I get a safe salad, which was huge and affordable, but we could sit outside with our docile, wheat-free Yellow Lab.
Yes
Had blueberry pancakes and eggs. Both were great and portions are huge. Not too expensive either. Staff very friendly
Yes
The BEST service with the most extensive gluten free breakfast menu I have ever seen. We ate breakfast here 3 days in a row and it was a HUGE serving that was delicious!
Great place!!! So many choices and very friendly and VERY careful and knowledgeable staff. Don’t miss it!!! And don’t leave without one of their homemade GF muffins!
Yes
Love the gluten free pancakes. The atmosphere and people are lovely. Definitely worth a try
Great service and very aware of cross contamination. The owner’s son has celiac disease so they truly understand. I had French toast and chip beef (they make theirs with corn starch) and it was all delicious! Would absolutely recommend to anyone!

We went for breakfast and we're given an extensive gluten free menu with breakfast and lunch items. Meals were large and delicious. Gluten free Crunchy French Toast was made with corn flakes as "breading". Creamy chip steak was also very good. Owner has Celiac and understands severity of issue. Fryer is NOT dedicated gluten free. Be aware of upcharges for gf bread/wraps and other items.
Yes
probably the most gluten free options i've ever seen at a restaurant. owner was very knowledgeable and everything was absolutely delicious!!
Yes
Absolutely the Best GF food in Ocean City !! You must have the creamed chipped beef for breakfast !!!
Yes
The person behind the counter told me due to the small kitchen size that it can't be guaranteed Celiac friendly (cross contamination). I would love to rate them higher due to their friendliness and how good the food looked, but I want to just warn others who have Celiac disease and get mislead by the gluten free labeling for those who just choose to be gluten free or only have the sensitivities.
